My…read morefirst visit was about 9 years ago to help me figure out the right running shoe and orthotic combination to help get someone with 2 protruding discs in their back and who was never a runner through their first ironman. It worked and 9 years later I still recommend SoleFit to anyone from the Ottawa area that think they may benefit or want to learn more about orthotic. My recent visit was to help me figure out why my calf muscle had partially atrophied at some point in the last 3 years and how to help regain an unexplained loss of flexibility in the same ankle. After a detailed history since the last visit with Ryan and an examination of my mobility, Ryan provided an extremely educational explanation of the intricate biomechanics of the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the foot and the interrelation with the nervous system and why it is so important to follow a holistic program to recover and maintain mobility. Ryan demonstrated different strategies that I can use at home in concert with various therapies (flossing, ART, massage, stretching) and then performed and amazing treatment on my ankle. Two minutes later I could feel a stretch in my atrophied calf for the first time in at least 5 years. I am so thankful to SoleFit for this tremendous service. Once again, I recommend SoleFit for any person with mobility issues or seeking orthotics. Thank you Ryan!

This is the first place I've ever had physiotherapy at and I'm extremely impressed. It's located…read moreinside Carleton University and the price is very reasonable compared to other physiotherapy clinics that I've heard about. They obviously specialize in sports related injuries, but I'm pretty sure anyone can make an appointment if they have a physician's referral. If your health insurance covers physiotherapy, you'll be glad to know that they are registered so you can claim it. I injured my shoulder 4 years ago and this past summer it became aggravated, most likely as a result of cycling. A friend first recommended seeing a sports doctor at the medical clinic also located inside the university, which I did, and he recommend physiotherapy treatment while waiting for an MRI appointment. Out of convenience, I visited the Sports Therapy Clinic here. I've had about 10 appointments to date and feel 100% better than when I started. During my initial assessment, it was also determined that I likely had a pinched nerve in my neck which was contributing to my problems. So I'm being treated for both my shoulder and my neck at each appointment. My physiotherapist is friendly and professional, and doesn't hesitate to constantly remind me of my poor posture to help me improve. She explains everything about what's going on in my shoulder and my neck so I'm fully aware of extent of the problem. When I'm hooked up the electrotherapy machine I usually watch others receiving their physiotherapy treatment and I can see that everyone here knows their stuff. My appointment times are almost always right when they're supposed to be. Only once was it a little late. I highly recommend this clinic. There is plenty of parking, but you will have to pay at one of the machines. I think $4 gets you just over an hour. Don't try to get away without paying -- I always see the parking patrol checking cars. :)

I went to visit Dr. Wise at Wellness House this past Monday following a week of debilitating lower…read moreback pain. I waited to go because I live 60km away and I couldn't sit in the car to drive. My husband finally took me. Dr. Wise did an assessment of my situation (he knows my back - I am not new) and said that the muscles were in severe spasm and that he needed to proceed gently. He asked if he could do some deep needle acupuncture and explained how it was different than regular acupuncture. He warned me that it would hurt, but that it was the best option for the circumstances. The treatment didn't hurt nearly as much as the spasms in my back. He also taped my back and showed me a very simple stretch to do at home with a broom handle. I love the way they keep things simple so I don't have to buy additional equipment to do the exercises. He also recommended alternating heat and ice and told me I should expect some relief as the day progressed. By that evening I was feeling a great deal of relief and the spasms were settling. The next day was even better and by Wednesday I no longer needed to take pain relief. It has been 76 hours since my treatment and I am feeling MUCH better. My back is still healing so I am being careful, but I can't thank Wellness House enough for getting me in right away and for the expertise offered to me. I have had terrible experiences at other places in the past, and I refuse to go anywhere but Wellness House even though it's a long drive from home!
