They don't allow you to resell tickets so I basically ate about $200.. very uncool of them since things in life come up that can't be helped. REVIEW: "Ragtime" (2025 Broadway Revival) at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on May 22, 2026…read more It turns out the third time is indeed the charm as this is the third Broadway production of the show since the debut of the well-regarded 1998 musical. The previous versions apparently collapsed under the weight of production bloat and runaway costs, but this ambitious show wisely started as a stripped-down Encores concert and from there, was built into a more fluid production befitting the rotating stage at this large scale venue in Lincoln Center. Based on E.L. Doctorow's sprawling 1975 historical novel, it's still an ambitious work with multiple storylines as the show follows three families of diverse social backgrounds and economic means in the early 20th century. Their lives intersect in ways that echo the racism, anti-immigration, and class warfare prevalent of the time. That the themes reverberate now enhances the emotional power and political relevance of what was deemed a period piece. Terrence McNally's book focuses effectively on the key elements of the rich source material. The music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens lend dimension to songs that advance the narrative without contriving the challenging circumstances facing the characters. What was truly impressive was how a huge ensemble cast was showcased in ways that complemented each other seamlessly under Lear deBessonet's assured direction. The spotlight is on the three principal players. As kind-hearted Tateh, Brandon Uranowitz brings poignancy and humor to his character's immigrant journey. In the late Marin Mazzie's classic role, Caissie Levy gives Mother a textured strength that moves to the foreground with her solo number, "Back to Before". However, it's Joshua Henry's stirring turn as pianist Coalhouse Walker Jr. that stays vividly in memory. His soaring vocals were a revelation to me. This is my fourth time seeing him perform on Broadway, but his versions of "New Music" and especially "Wheels of a Dream" were transcendent. His duet partner on the latter, Nichelle Lewis as Sarah, is solid though overshadowed in the role that gave Audra McDonald her third Tony. Allison Blackwell as Sarah's nameless friend almost steals the show with the Act One closer, "Till We Reach That Day". The limited run is scheduled to end on August 2. The seating is perfect for even me. Good room for my knees not too feel cramped. The sound system is excellent and clear. It made perfect to hear each instrument. Excellent parking lot. Can come in the back and front to get in the venue. They sell snacks and beverages prior to the show in the lobby. Great date night, girls night, if looking for a comedy show, music concert, or play type event. Check the calendar and buy tickets on line or at the box office prior to the event. This charmingly intimate theater offers 4 shows a year for 'grown-ups" and also has shows for children and families. The theater has table and chairs and you could be sat with strangers if you are by yourself or two people. Luckily my friend and I were able to snag a two person table. We had got VIP tickets so we were the first two rows. There is a 25.00 min spend here on food and or drinks. They do have specials too. As soon as we sat down the waiter asked if we were ready we were. I got the wedge salad and my friend got the cob salad. They both came out very quick. I wish though that they could turn the lights on while we eat because it did not really sit right with me that I could not see what I was eating. From the lack of light it looked like the lettuce was turkey or like old lettuce. There was bacon on top too. I asked for no bleu cheese and dressing on the side. 19.00 for a wedge is wild but it was big so I guess it makes up for it, also I mean it is NYC! I also ordered a French 75 which was nothing special. The stage and sound in this small theater was fine nothing special. It is an intimate theater that is for sure. It was my first time here. I won't be running back to see a show here though unless it is someone or something I REALLY want to see.

I recently had the chance to attend the opening preview night of The Maids here and I was…read morethoroughly impressed by the whole venue from the warmth and professionalism of the staff, the offering of drinks and snacks at the bar before the performance, and also my amazing seat which was 3rd row middle center - the perfect view. All seats looked to have great views in general, perhaps the side view seats a bit harder but with the way the staging is set up it's easy to be able to get a good view. The acoustics are also great, amplifying the actresses voices well and thus is also located right under the Brooklyn Bridge, so lots of fun restaurants and things to do in the area before a show. Highly recommend if you want a different change of pace from the Broadway lights.

The cast, crew and audience were all excellent. Plus its a whole lot easier and less expensive than the other theater options. The seats were all close to the stage and the experience was very intimate. The set was really good. The theater was quite nice and the parking, EZ. It's definitely worth checking out.

All the food and drink lines were very long. Think the fest could've used a lot more servers. However, once you were waited on, the food was served up quickly. In fact, my bf literally waited 30 minutes in one line just to get drinks. We shared a Bratwurst platter w/Spaetzel & German Potato salad $12 + Potato pancakes, & applesauce $8.00. The Bratwurst with mustard was super tasty! The Potato salad was EXCELLENT!!! Pancakes were somewhat greasy. Someone in the food line said that the pancakes were much better last year. By the time we finished eating, we noticed the dessert line was gone. Went up and spoke with someone and they told me that the desserts go very quickly. (It's something we have to remember for next year to order dessert first). A Big Shout out goes to Don Bittlerich & Die Heimatklänge who performed wonderful German Polka music. There's parking on the premises. However, the club has a wonderful shuttle from a local Acme mall parking lot. You don't even have to wait long for the shuttle coming or going. My husband just became a member so we went for a Friday night dinner after a long work week. We…read morewent early because I was starving and got a seat at the bar. The friendly bartender got us our drinks and the young waitress gave us a chance to get settled before taking our orders. I had the DC Burger, a tasty patty cooked medium rare with sauteed onions, mushrooms, and Swiss. Hubby had the wurst platter with mashed potatoes and gravy and cabbage. We both cleaned our plates. The other folks at the bar were friendly and happy to swap stories. I was even reunited with a family friend I hadn't seen since my wedding! I'm looking forward to many more lovely nights!
