The specials are generally exceptional and highly recommended. The coffee and cakes are also above the usual standard for coffee shops. The higher than average pricing reflects the quality, but it's worth it. The one star is lost because the basic menu is, well, rather basic; toasties, sandwhiches, salads, baked potatoes etc but not much else. The specials are what make this place stand out, but if the specials are sold out then I always find myself a little disappointed. The staff are always attentive and never obtrusive. And the icing on the cake is that there is free parking at the location.

It's not the cheapest place to buy, but then you get what you pay for sometimes, also it is well staffed with people who are usually able to assist with your queries. Prior Park is more than just a garden centre - there is a good pet section (including stocking more unusual items, such as foodstuffs for reptiles), a really nice food section with reasonably priced organic and local food, and all sorts of homewares, including plenty of unusual gift ideas. What I visit weekly for though, is its excellent cafe. There is an indoor seating area with air conditioning, or you can sit outside on a sunny terrace. Again, not the cheapest in town, but the quality of the food and drink is very good; they always have a range of scrumptious cakes, plus a standard snack menu of sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes. There is usually a home made soup of the day, plus a couple of main course options. I had pea and mint soup yesterday and it was delicious, so good that I passed my compliments to the chef. It's a good venue to meet people for coffee; a real bonus is that there is ample free parking for customers, which is a rare and precious thing in central Bath!

Everything about this cafe scream "quaint" and "lovely" with doilies on the tables and brightly coloured cupcakes adorning the counter. The shop assistants here are welcoming and warm, and quick to serve you up a piping hot cuppa and a sweet treat. It's quite a small cafe so its not the best if you're trying to have a quiet chit chat as your conversation will be overheard, but it makes a welcome change from the chained outlets in Bath.

Last time I visited I got a slice of vegan lemon loaf and a vegan falafel and hummus sandwich with peppers, rocket, and sweet chili. I appreciate they had some vegan options, but they were both underwhelming. You'll see in the photo: the lemon loaf was clearly underbaked. I nibbled on the top bit with the icing which was citrussy, but the rest of it was somehow quite dry. The sandwich was mostly bread with very little filling; I ended up sort of scraping everything off each slice with a spoon and got maybe three or four spoonfuls. I like the location, I like the seating options outside and in (especially a the big window in the front - great for people watching!), and the staff seems friendly enough. For me, the coffee and food are just a little lackluster.

Sometimes it's not open because they have staffing problems, sometimes (somehow) they're completely out of things, but usually there's a strong cold brew waiting to assist you on that two hour ride back to London, and sometimes there's even an unexpected vegan treat or two as well (currently there are these chocolate muffins with a caramel center; a while back there were these little banana loafs drizzled with toffee that were so moist and so flavorful and - yes - I'm still thinking about them!). It's small, it's not always the cleanest, and you can't order ahead of time. Truly, this place exists to help the tired traveler with a little sugar and caffeine fix!

I walked in and started to approach the deli case in the back, and the person working yelled as she approached me, "What do you want?!" (No greeting other than that.) I asked if they were open (it was around 10:30 or 11am, and there wasn't anyone else in the cafe). She was so aggressive with putting my food in containers, and then when a couple walked in behind me she yelled at them, "STOP RIGHT THERE. YOU NEED TO WAIT." They looked confused and ended up leaving as she rang me up. Maybe it was an off day; maybe someone was supposed to be helping her and they called out; maybe she was slammed with orders. But... I see on other review sites that folks have had a similar experience here. Maybe the Abbey Deli location is different?
