Like all of Lacock this is rather picturesque It might be a café but it's still a bit posh. When we…read morevisited it was pretty full. The large room inside is nice, with old beams and decorations like an old saddle, but the windows are only small and a big queue up the middle did make it feel rather enclosed. Outside there are tables and chairs. We might have made use of them as the day was warm, but the only ones available had small tables to the side of the chair, which would have been awkward to eat at. Food is ordered at the counter. They have cakes and drinks there that you can take immediately, and a range of simple fare such as toasties, soup and baked potatoes to order. Though the big crowd in was some excuse I did feel our food was very slow to arrive. There were long gaps between things coming out of the kitchen. Maybe they were short on staff and/or cooker space. The cakes (which we ate first for some reason!) were absolutely delicious: light and buttery. Definitely recommended. I also had a Wiltshire ham rarebit. The food is well presented with generous portions and a big salad on the side. Unfortunately my lettuce had clearly come out of the bottom of a bag of ready prepared leaves and nobody had noticed that the darker leaves were actually bruised to mush in places Everybody's salad looked fresh otherwise. I was a bit puzzled when my rarebit arrived as at first glance I didn't see any ham. Turns out the 'Wiltshire' doesn't just mean it was local, but is a special type of ham, tending towards gammon. Instead of the usual bits of ham I actually had a huge slab of the stuff under the cheese! Though the price was more than you'd normally pay for toast with ham and cheese, with that portion it was well justified! And very tasty Overall my impressions were very positive. Food was fresh and of good quality, though they were clearly cracking a little under the pressure of a busy period, leading to slips such as my salad. I enjoyed my food and would return again.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating. They serve light meals, desserts, and drinks. I had a lemon drizzle cake and it was really good! We sat in here for a while on a really warm day and enjoyed a drink and some sweets. The only parking for this place is at the Lacock general car park. There isn't any WiFi which would have been nice for us tourists. This place is totally a tourist town, so some WiFi would make sense. Friendly service and a small selection of items makes this a nice place to stop on your way into and out of Lacock.

If only I could leave a minus star review, I went to park in here at 4am this morning, found a spot…read moreto the far right hand side as you drive in, reversed into a bay, then went to see the night attendant to see about paying, from the moment I mentioned I was in a 3.5t van with deep sleeper he almost chased me back to my spot, accusing me of wishing to rob other drivers of their loads, he took a picture of my reg plate & banned me from site, I've been a Class 1 driver for 31yrs, had businesses in both Transport & Security Services, had he bothered to check ! I was also loaded after coming back into the UK from the Netherlands, my curtained sides were also TIR Corded with back doors sealed & padlocked off, I also work for a local haulier with signage marking the name & Bristol England on the doors...Banned he says, Banning or not, no way on earth would I be back, what an absolute disgrace you are to a truck stop that I have been in many times before & up until now favoured over other locations, a wee bothy & a bit of power gone to your head mate, but know this...the mighty do fall !
