The Good: *All their ice cream bases and most add-ins are made from scratch in-house. *Great location along the Belfast Ha'bor Walk. *Small but mighty selection of ice cream and some sorbets. *Housemade waffle cones are the right call. And for $1.50 you can't go wrong. *Blueberry ice cream was fantasticly smooth and filled with fresh Maine Blueberry flavor. *Friendly service *Reasonable prices for a ice cream shop in a touristy area. The Meh: *Seasonal The Ugly: *Street Parking only in Belfast, so be prepared to drive around aimlessly on busier days. Conclusion: Delicious i creams made the right way and at a reasonable price.

We needed some of that creamy goodness at that point, and Wild Cow didn't disappoint. My wife ordered a 2 scoop waffle cone of Maine Blueberry and some type of peanut butter variety. I went with a 2 scoop of Apple Crisp and Almond Toffee. All the flavors were fresh and flavorful, this was quality-made ice cream. No lines to speak of that day, but it was early October for our visit, I'm sure the Wild Cow does a brisk business during the Summer peak. A strong 4 Star rating.

I get nervous when I hear about a gelato shop. Am I *really* going to get gelato? The kind I've…read morefawned over in Europe? The reviews and mission at Freya's appeared promising, so I decided to give it a go, especially since the product is made in-house. Unfortunately for our group of four, there was only one flavor of gelato left an hour before closing time (and good for Freya's). My spouse went for that gelato--coffee--while the rest of our group went the sorbetto route. There were four flavors remaining: strawberry, passionfruit, guava, and lime + jasmine. I had tastes of everything, including the gelato. Sorbetto-wise, I was especially impressed with the strawberry, and the passionfruit was a close second. My only nit pick is that the guava was icier than the other three sorbettos, but the flavor was still punchy and refreshing. As for the gelato, it was European quality. Huzzah! I was so mad that I hadn't gone earlier in the day for more of a gelato selection. That taste of coffee really left a good impression. I'm thrilled to report that the folx at Freya's know what they're doing with their gelato and sorbettos. If you're snobby about your gelato, rest assure! You'll be really happy at Freya's.

You would struggle to find a cafe or restaurant with a better view, as this looks out over a harbor that is basically what you'd picture in your head for being in Maine. The menu included buckwheat crepes both sweet and savory and some gelato, so I indulged and got a crepe with gelato on the side. Even the sweet crepes use a buckwheat base, which I liked. The earthy flavor makes a useful contrast with the sweetness. Their house caramel sauce was buttery and toasty in flavor and combined well with bananas, so say nothing of the smooth stracciatella gelato I mixed with it. I couldn't have asked for much more.

Get there early and you will probably see lobstermen unloading crates of lobster from the nearby harbor. It's not waterfront, but in the late fall you can see the bay through the trees after the leaves fall! Bonus! We ordered a traditional Maine style mayo lobster roll and a buttered lobster roll for comparison. The traditional Maine style mayo lobster roll was absolutely perfect! Just enough mayo to bind the fresh, plump, tender sweet cold water lobster meat. Oh and no fillers, just lobster meat (mostly tender sweet knuckle/claw meat, mmmmm) and just the right amount of mayo. Same for buttered lobster roll, just the right amount of clarified butter as a binder. No need to overpower the fresh delicate flavor of tender cold water lobster from Maine waters. Both lobster rolls were presented on an over stuffed buttered and grilled hot dog style roll. Plated with fresh, hot ,skin on shoestring fries and some house made slaw. Delicious! Both rolls perfect! Hard to tell which one we liked better. Maybe slight advantage to the traditional mayo style, just cause thats the way we like it. If you cant decide, We recommend you get one of each, split with a friend, and judge for yourself. Either way you wont be dissapointed. The Bayside store is not just a lobster roll place. Its a great old world style small market with something for everyone. You can get just about anything from breakfast, to a burger, to fresh house made soup, to a great selection of local craft beers! As soon as you walk in through the swinging screen door you feel automatically welcome. Seems like the place where there is always fresh hot coffee on and friendly staff to greet you. There are relaxing benches and some hightop counters to relax and enjoy your meal or a cup of coffee. Weather permitting, there is also casual and comefortable outside seating. Oh and the staff was so pleasant and welcoming. Makes you want to come back and be a regular! Highly recommended! 5+++++ We will return! Again and Again!

A few picnic tables outside for eating lunch or enjoying your ice cream. Easy in, easy out parking. The young ladies working the register and the deli were very friendly. I admit I haven't quite found my sandwich there yet. But I will keep trying. Lobster roll didn't have any (?) flavor but the McCrum fries and the Cole slaw were amazing. Be sure to upgrade to the basket. Enormous pile of fries, you can share among a small family! I hear the burgers are very good so that will be my next try off the menu. Cute place, friendly people, great selection. Definitely worth the stop.
