The store has been open for about 2 months and is inviting and nicely laid out. The product is definitely good quality and I feel like I will get many years of use from it. The assistant manager who walked me through the selection process was knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful, as were all other members of the staff. The two notable cons are stock availability and delivery. The store carries quite a limited amount of product on site so be prepared to order and wait for it to be brought up from the U.S. Even the process of salespeople checking what stock is on hand is time-consuming (think 15 to 30 minutes) as they appear to be short-handed on staff manning the chaotic-sounding storage area. Finally, I was disappointed that the delivery options were: (a) haul it off yourself somehow, or (b) pay an additional $250 to have it delivered. So I took a few hours off work and brought a U-Haul a week later, even calling ahead as requested so the purchase could be retrieved from the back in advance, but I still waited an hour after arriving as they tried to find a missing box. Sigh. In summary, you really need to like Pottery Barn and have the patience of a saint on the back end to do any kind of significant shopping here.

You don't come here to get a lot of money, you just come to get a few bucks from something that would just sit idle in a drawer somewhere. I wonder sometimes while looking at various engagement rings the story that was behind them being pawned ? Oh well, whether you need some extra cash or just like looking around at some old treasures. You won't find Monopoly here, but you will find the popular games that many of the large toy stores don't carry like Dominion, Munchkin, Catan, etc. On the back wall there is a solid selection of Ravensberger puzzles and in the front corner of the store has a healthy comic book rack. The far side of the store contains Warhammer paraphernalia. They have three tables set up with terrain along the far wall. The majority of the Warhammer stock is 40K so if you're a base player, you'll find the selection limited. I overheard the owner talking to some customers that he likes to hear what people are talking about before he orders stock in so if you want something, ask.

The issues were primarily…read morewith the Shawnessy store in Calgary, from items missing to incredibly rude and disrespectful staff. When I inquired about my missing items at the Shawnessy store, the store associate actually raised her had to stop me from speaking, then demanded I empty my bag so she could see that I wasn't hiding the item. Another occasion, the store manager demanded to see the email from Michael's showing items were ready for pu up and when I showed a text version, she refused to accept it and demanded the original. When I explained that it was identical and that I didn't have the email on my phone, she said there was nothing she could do and walked away. I left feedback with the Customer Care line and received a call from the district manager for Calgary and Manitoba. I missed the call but returned her message within 2 hours. After 2 days of not hearing from her, I sent an email to her. I received a response after 2 days after that telling me that if " i wanted to connect with her, I could contact her during a few windows when she was free": The onus is not on me to chase her down, she stated in her initial phone message to me that she would " like to make it right". Ignoring me, then finally telling me to work around her availability is not making it right. Clearly, the poor service culture at Michaels does not fall far from the management tree. There is a reason why online companies like Temu offering similar products for a fraction of the price of Michael's are doing booming business. This type of shoddy customer disservice should not be rewarded by giving them business. See less
