What there is no mistaking, however, is that Canuck Amusements has a massive selection of party decorations. No matter the theme they've got you covered (Weddings, Anniversaries, Bachelorette parties, baby showers, etc.) Besides their huge assortment of party accessories they also offer customized trophies and engraving, balloons, darts and accessories, bingo supplies, costumes, toys and trinkets and more.

I came in looking to rent a helium tank. All they had were the big tanks for $80/day. A big tank is totally not what I needed, way to big in fact. The guy helping me suggested one of the disposable helium tanks... but those are crap. The balloons last for like 2 hrs before they start floating down to the ground. 3 if you're lucky. Anyway, this is where the staff member launched into an explanation about what makes your balloons last a really long time. He took me over to their helium tank and proceeded to show me the extra latex coating they use to coat every balloon (which apparently helps the balloon stay afloat for like 3-5 days). I was thankful for the extra info, and for the fact that he didn't try and talk me into renting the tank anyway. He did apologize for not having what I needed and suggested maybe trying Praxair for my own tank if I were going to use it often. Anyway, customer service like that can be hard to find. You'll see me checking out Canuck again sometime for other party things!

I played bagpipes professionally (I wasn't good, but I *did* get paid!) for nine years, then…read moredrifted in and out of my Militia unit's band until finally just kind of stopped playing. Eager to get my bagpipes back in action for several years, but unwilling to put in the work of refurbishing my pipes. Then someone recommended Bill's services, which are advertised on the Highland Shoppe's website. It was worth every penny. My pipes are oiled, hemped, new blowstick, moisture trap, bag, reeds, they sound like a million bucks (or as close as my fumbling fingers can get). Bill and Jeanie both treat customers extremely well, very pleasant to talk to. And of course the location of the shop is a bit off the beaten track, but in a very stunning (and appropriate) setting that was really kind of a treat to visit once I was there. Anyone trying to get back into piping after an absence and wondering about the refurbishment service, I would highly recommend it.
