Dari Bee is a fairly simple ice cream shack along the bike path. They have tons of different kinds of ice cream, frozen and regular lemonade, and plenty of other sweets and treats. The service is always very kind and the ambience is great, especially in the summer. There are tons of people passing by because it is right on the bike path, if you are biking the entire path, it is a great place to stop and refresh. I will say it is a bit more expensive than it should be, but that's probably just because the economy sucks right now, the ice cream is also not as good as it was 5 years ago. read more

I use to love coming here. But in recent years not so much. Haven't been in awhile so i thought I'd try it again. I was looking do forward to a large hot fudge sundae. Quite disappointed by the lack of quantity and workmanship. The cup was filled just a little higher than half way, maybe 2 scoops ? Hardly any fudge or nuts and the cherry was bad. All this for almost $8. They use to make great sundaes but now probably just care about the profit and not customer service. That will catch up to them. Also the picnic tables need to be replaced. Located right on the East Bay Bike path so an easy stop if you are our riding your bike. Plenty of parking if you are driving to Dari Bee. They also offer plenty of flavors of hard ice cream. Tried this place for the first time. Service was ok. I tried the ice cream of the day, white chocolate with raspberry swirl and pieces of chocolate that have raspberry filling. While the ice cream was good it was definitely not worth the high prices for the amount you get. read more

Just finished my cappuccino crunch in a sugar cone - yum yum yum! It had some toffee and chocolate bits in it and I added chocolate jimmies. Got to say - it hit the spot! The girl who waited on us was all smiles and very nice. This place is cash only so come prepared. No public restrooms that I could see. They have Hershey's hard ice cream as well as soft serve ice cream and yogurt. It's right on the bike path and has picnic tables to enjoy your frozen treats! As for some of the reviews on here - I think the people complaining about the water situation should buy one out of the machine on the side of the building or plan ahead and pack the water you will need for your day on the bike path! I've been trying out a bunch of places along the East Bay bike path, so I stopped at Dari Bee the other day just for the sake of completeness. As you can probably tell from the ramshackle appearance, the ice cream here is pretty average. They serve Hershey's hard ice cream and soft serve. The prices are low ($3.50 for a small), so it's a cheap way to cool down and satisfy any small children you're toting around. But as for me, I'll spend a little bit more to go to The Daily Scoop down the road and have real homemade ice cream. read more

This place is amazing, if what you are expecting is chocolate milk when you've ordered a chocolate shake. I asked the older woman, who I assume is the owner, if there was anyway she could add an extra scoop of ice cream or something and she laughed and said "we don't make thick shakes like mcdonalds. If you want it thicker you need to pay for an extra scoop. Do you want to pay for an extra scoop?" After I said no (because I was already paying close to $7 for milk) she said "okay then, next" and wouldn't even give my money back. Please listen to all the negative reviews on here and stay away from this place. I hate people who are so miserable with their lives that they treat others like crap. The Dairy Bee is in a prime spot for ice cream along the East Bay Bike Path with a small parking lot and benches. All they need is good ice cream. The hard ice cream is Hershey's - just OK, obviously nothing special there. When I go out for a cone and notice they're dishing boring ice cream, I'm just as psyched for the soft stuff (sprinkles!). But out of the Dairy Bee machines comes nothing but that gritty, off-tasting nastiness. Perhaps that's why they push those weird gel flavorings with your soft serve. Still, this place is always jammed with happy lickers on nice days (and nights) - maybe the nostalgic ice cream experience is enough to trump lame ice cream for some, but I'll go somewhere else for it. read more

Dari Bee is right on the bike path so points for convenience. Hershey's ice cream is fine by me. I like the coffee or the black raspberry with jimmies. Prices are cheaper than Newport Creamery but more than Riverside Creamery. Plenty of picnic tables for sitting and plenty of parking as well. I've never tried to get them to fill up my water bottle from the tap (it's not their obligation to keep you hydrated) but they are a business and being on the bike path, I'm sure they make a good amount of money from selling bottled water. You're lucky they even offer that because some ice cream stands don't. I get a sample taste of something just about every time I come here, for the record. read more

Also they serve real bubblegum hard ice cream and it makes me so happy. This use to be one of my fav places. Each year it goes down hill. I asked for the simplest ice cream. Soft serve vanilla in a cone. W rainbow sprinkles on bottom, middle and top. I said i would pay extra. I just wanted extra extra rainbow sprinkles. Not only did i not get that i could barely see them in the cup. W the benefit of the doubt i thought they were hidden. Then she told me my total 4 and change. I gave a $5 and the exact change so i would get a dollar back and i got back 30 cents. Wtf? After I just empty my wallet of change into the tip cup. This shop benefits from its location on the East Bay Bike Path yet they refused to fill my water bottle when I asked. I was told they only sell bottled water and will not fill from the tap. They will never get my business because of their unfriendly attitude and I hope other bikers boycott this shop. I was also told by someone who had stopped there that they refused to give taste of their ice cream. Talk about being customer or potential customer unfriendly. When I rode down to Barrington, the very friendly people at Daily Scoop not only filled my botttle but also put ice cubes in it. read more

I biked there today with my son. We bought ice cream and the server refused to fill our water bottles. We were experiencing a heat advisory with temps in the 90s! They have lost my business for good. I must add that this experience provided a sharp contrast to what we experienced when my husband and I biked to the Daily Scoop in Barrington on Father's Day. My husband got free ice cream because he was a father and they asked if we wanted ice when they filled our bottles -- plus the ice cream is way better. I highly recommend coffee oreo. read more

Along the same lines with another review, they refused to give me any water without paying $1.75 for it! It was unexpectedly hot and I was running on the bike path and I waited in line to ask for a sip of water, since I had brought none with on my run. I came here with my sister yesterday, and after my sister ordered she realized she didn't have cash. Instead of pointing out the ATM across the street or saying sorry, the lady said, "OK, I can put it back, BUH-BYE." Was denied 9oz of tap water. Here is how it went: At about 12:30 in the afternoon this past Sunday I stopped off the bike path and (panting) asked the woman setting up if she could please refill my water canteen. She condescendingly said "NO, WE DON'T DO THAT". Now let me tell you, It was an 80 degree day and I had just run 18 of 20 miles I had scheduled for a training run in preparation of a marathon I am running through which I have raised THOUSANDS of dollars for Diabetes research. Emotionally and physically drained I walked away crying and thirsty. What fun! After stopping at The Crescent Park Carousel, we stopped at Dari Bee for Ice Cream! The selections posted on the windows were endless! The girls at the window were friendly and helpful! The amount of ice cream for the value was more than expected. I have The Soft Serve with a Chocolate Dip! I got a large...it was huge and it was AWESOME and I ate every scrumptious bite, as did my family! Now, change of pace! I read some comments here. Some are so ridiculously negative! If you are out for the day on your bike...supply your own water for your journey. If you were on a picnic, you would bring the necessary amount of food. Would you expect the picnickers next to you to supply you with food should you run out...lol, I don't think so! It's not others responsibly to hydrate you. FYI, i believe I saw bottled water on their menu board! Also, " they don't allow you to sample ice cream", does a restaurant allow you to " sample food"? Does a Grocery Store , allow you to " sample food"? Get serious people! And to remark about" brand of ice cream"! Unless you're their local competitor, who would ever make that an issue or point that out...Shame on you! Go to Dari Bee if you're looking for a great family experience and great ice cream.
