I was very happy with my full head of light blonde hair and thought I had finally found a great business. Second visit I had a very different experience with George. My hair did not turn out to my liking. I asked him to tone the white/gray color on the top of my head to match the light blonde on the rest of my hair. He responded with a flat out NO! in a dismissive tone of voice! I asked him to trim my hair up to 1 inch. He took off at least 2-3 inches more. Friends have made negative comments regarding the color. Will not be returning as I no longer trust the type of service or like the rude treatment I received. Guess the honeymoon is over! Looking for a more dependable salon with expert stylists who know how to give their client what they ask and pay for!

I was thinking of not even going in at first, but I was there so thought how bad could it be? One of the girls was named Nancy and I forgot the other one's name. The girl who did my hair looked about 18, talked the ENTIRE time about her personal life to her co-worker and was really obnixious bragging about all the weddings she does and how great she is. I brought pictures with me thinking how can she mess this up. I asked for LOOSE curls. I could tell half way through she had NO CLUE what I wanted and my hair was schlacked down with about 2 cans of hairspray with pin tight Shirley Temple curls. I should have just told her to stop what she was doing. She kept going on and on about how great it looked..uhuh. Next was the makeup girl who I asked to use the lightest shade foundation on me since foundation tends to turn orangey on my face. Well, she used airbrush makeup, which left my face looking totally greasy, and ORANGE, with eyeshadow that was put on way too thick. I was then put on the spot where they assumed they would be getting my business and started asking me what time they should come to my house the day of the wedding. There was NO WAY IN HELL I was using these two. This was a trial I had to pay for, so I paid, went home and wiped all the crap off my face as fast as I could.

AI is an old fashioned barbershop located in the New Dorp section of the borough. The proprietor Joe Pugliese is an old friend, and I pop in once a year to visit. Joe employs seven other barbers, and all of them are "characters." AI accepts appointments Tuesday through Friday, and walk in only on Saturdays. All of the barbers are highly skilled, and a bit too talkative for my taste. Joe has been cutting my hair for many years, and I can't say that he is very talkative. Instead he focuses on his work, and his work is very good. I got an excellent haircut from Joe, and an animated debate from one of his patron's. I'm not sure when I will return, but I hope that it is soon.
