Techniques is a great barber shop I've been going there for years (Aprx 13). Depending on the day you can catch a quick flick on the Flat screen or Listen to classic Hip Hop/Old school as well as New Tunes. It's recommended to make an appointment as walk in are sometimes accepted but for these barbers better play safe then sorry call ahead. They do Adults/Kids, designs if requested, straight edge shaves, fades, facials and more just need to ask. read more

Best fade on Staten Island. Owner even found and returned the EZpass i has left there. He didn't have to find out whose it was but he did. Was driving me crazy for weeks - just didn't remember where I left it - then at my next he he's said 'hey Bobby, I think this is the EZpass you left here.' Amazing turn of events because I almost called up cancelled i would have had to wait 7-10 days for a new one. Great cuts, great guys at techniques read more

Great barber shop! Vinny is the man. If you like a chill atmosphere with an old school hip-hop feel than this is the place for you. I could have stayed for hours even after my cut. Your best bet is to call ahead first, cuts are around $15. read more

Great barber shop! Very trendy and the place really reminds me more of a city barber shop with the cool music, tv, and great barbers. More especially, my barber, Jesse! He's excellent, smart, funny, and extremely professional. That being said, if you want a great haircut, in a relaxed atmosphere, look no further and schedule an appointment with them and you'll be very happy with the results! read more

AI is an old fashioned barbershop located in the New Dorp section of the borough. The proprietor Joe Pugliese is an old friend, and I pop in once a year to visit. Joe employs seven other barbers, and all of them are "characters." AI accepts appointments Tuesday through Friday, and walk in only on Saturdays. All of the barbers are highly skilled, and a bit too talkative for my taste. Joe has been cutting my hair for many years, and I can't say that he is very talkative. Instead he focuses on his work, and his work is very good. I got an excellent haircut from Joe, and an animated debate from one of his patron's. I'm not sure when I will return, but I hope that it is soon.

I only get gel manicures. My issue is, they charge $23 extra for chrome. I have never heard of this, not even anywhere else on the island and chrome isnt even that expensive to purchase. So honestly, that is why I stopped going, I like getting chrome often and to charge additional $23 is absolute robbery in my opinion. I decided to try a pedicure, which I was hesitant about. The chairs seem so unsanitary as they are cloth, and also stained. Basically, when it comes to sanitation idk how thats even allowed. they do not recline so it's not comfortable sitting there and the bowl your feet go into is small and your feet are not submerged or sitting in water like most nail salons. The girl I had did my pedicure completely backwards. She did my nails first with dry feet once she finished painting them (gel pedicure) then put them in the water and massaged and then I left. It was such an odd experience. Although she did a nice job. But maybe thats her style and im just used to the original way that every single nail solan does. She also had to push up my chair herself just to make it easier for her to reach me. That doesnt seem fair to her-- reclining chairs have modes to make the chair closer to the tech. Like its so strange that they dont have this.... I feel like they prioritized the aesthetic over practicality. With all the sweat, friction, and skin contact in that area, the fabric is bound to harbor bacteria. I honestly don't see how it can be properly cleaned and sanitized after every use.
