They bought a dozen new picnic tables - never used yet due to the virus. The food menu is average bar food - but closer to American in my opinion. Big space. Awesome new bar with partially the same owner as the bar it was before. Good choice of beers, IPA's, locals and even their own Dapper beer. Served for the brave. Incredibly bad service: asked the waitress if she could return in 5 after I checked the menu, she didn't. Then after playing 'attract another waitress' for about 10mins we finally ordered a drink & food. The drink took 30mins to arrive and the food 45+. The food was ok but the fries were laughable at 1cm in length... Basically . We got the dregs. Another 25mins-for-a-beer later we gave up took our bill inside personally (didn't want to wait any longer for the clueless waitresses), paid & left. I couldn't really say why it was so bad. When Kade 58 closed down it only took around a month until Dapper re-opened. On the one hand that's great, because they have a big terrace next to the canal and it would be a shame not to use it once it's a proper spring. On the other hand there is still construction work going on that brings some limitations. When I arrived at 13.30 and wanted to see the lunch menu I got to hear that the kitchen will need some more 15 minutes until they're ready. That was fine with me because I arrived late but I wouldn't have wanted to be one of the early guests waiting for lunch for two hours. The guys on the table next to me ordered shortly before me. We had to wait about half an hour and then I got my dish before them. Horeca no-go. I tried the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and it was really good but unfortunately only lukewarm. Dapper is still in the warm-up phase so consider that when you come here. However, the service is nice and quite quick serving the drinks. I'll certainly come back and rate anew as soon as the processes are well-rehearsed. read more

We are visiting from Seattle, walking around the neighborhood and randomly picked this place. Loved the ambience. Staff are so attentive. And my husband and I agreed, their spicy ribs is the best ribs we've had so far. Prices are reasonable. Beer selection is good. read more

Loving it :D Coming here in the afternoons to work from their terrace. The very friendly and efficient server comes around a lot. It was a bit distracting at first actually, but I asked if it'd be ok to work from the (barely occupied) terrace without ordering much and she said no worries, she just wanted to give me attention. I just saw the reviews about service and had to comment. I'm not going to sit here and say it was the BEST I've ever had in my life, but it was absolutely fine. Plus, the vibe and atmosphere would have made up for it if the service WAS bad. As a tourist in the city, I noticed that locals are a bit tired of tourists (understandably, I live in LA). But the two waiters we had (both locals) warmed up to us quickly and gave great recommendations on beer. Side note: tell people what you like and you'll get good service. I gave them 4 stars because of food (get pumpkin soup), atmosphere was hip with nice lighting and exposed kitchen (not too loud) and friendly service (they told me their Spotify playlist so I could follow it). PLUS, very affordable for what you get. Only con: Their beer could and should be filled higher to the rim of the glass. Both of our servers poured a large head of foam, though, so I'm guessing thats what management is telling them? read more

Cool bar with plenty of outdoor benches for sunny days and plenty of indoor seating too for the cool evenings. Love the dark lighting and touch of using candles on top of the tables, servers are friendly and drinks are great. Have yet to try the food menu, looked and smelled great though! Girlfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night and they were moderately busy. Sat at the bar and ordered some drinks right away. With 11 taps (I think) and probably a couple dozen bottles, ranging from American IPAs to classic Belgians, their beer selection is quite good. Was told we had to order food from a front of the house person, which was no big deal, as that's pretty standard. Got our burgers and fries before I could finish my second drink (kinda slammed the first 25cl of their house Dapper lager). We both thought the food was quite good, especially the veggie burger. Chatted with a couple of the bar tenders over the course of our meal, who were quit friendly, and one of them even came over to shake my hand and wish us a good night when he clocked out. Not sure what was up when the other reviewer came here a little while back but they seem to have it together now. I'd go back for sure. read more

Inattentive and amateur service, mediocre food at most. Waiters are chitchatting in almost empty restaurant and won't pay you any attention unless you somehow manage to get it. When it comes to serving, they bring food on wooden boards dripping oil that will most certainly end up on your clothes if its up to the waiter. Do not recommend the place. read more

Service is a disaster. Of course in Holland they pride themselves on terrible service so maybe folks are giving more stars for it. Sat down immediately then 30 min and several attempts at flagging down a server (who would look at us and then walk away wordless). FINALLY ordered... Then another 45 min later attempted to flag down the server to find out what happened to the food. Finally flagged someone else down who went to check and guess they realized they needed to start making it. So came back and said would you like something to drink while you wait (since there is no native Dutch words for sorry or excuse me). Of course in any clued in place they'd throw that drink in as an apology, but we're in Holland. The food is actually ok, and the outdoor seat is nice when sunny. However there are far cozier spots on the canals and for those that actually don't want to spend hours waiting many, many better choices However, if you want to get a feeling of the frustration of living in Amsterdam and the Nethetlands with workers that don't care and service when even at it's best is worse than bad American/UK service try this place. As an aside I was glancing at the other outside tables and saw no one getting much better service than this level. But of course the Dutch I guess think horrific service is cozy (gelezig if I've spelled it right) Oh and the belligerent attitude isn't welcome either. Seriously please us locals a favor and avoid this place as maybe if enough local restaurants realize even half good service is a good thing maybe things will change (oh yeah the Dutch changing their ways. The girl serving the food was very friendly and she returned after a few minutes with the correct order. The burger was ok when it finally arrived and they have an amazing selection of juices and soft drinks but well they are almost as slow as Hesp which is saying something. .. They said they didn't expect the Sunday to be so busy so they only had one chef... don't wait at your table to pay your bill just head inside otherwise you will be there all day....
