Situated on the fifth floor of Fisher Mall, parking isn't a problem, and restaurants are an escalator and a few steps away. We visited Playland for a three-year-old's birthday party, and we brought a three-year-old with us. There's a spacious function room for these exact purposes, and it can fit around fifty people comfortably. As party favors, the kids were given Ride-All-You-Can stamps, so I guess they have some sort of kiddie party package that's inclusive of the function room and the entertainment area itself. We were also given cards to use for the arcade games--standard ones like the claw machine things and shooting stalls. Kids that are 4 feet and above can ride by themselves. Any shorter than that, and they require an adult companion. My three-year-old nephew had a blast in the brightly lit mini-ferris wheel. The helicopter ride was spinning, but its arms didn't go up and down at the time, and that really took away from its appeal. I do hope they fix it soon. It's a great ride to stir a child's imagination as the front seat has a steering wheel, and they can pretend to be pilots. Overall, we had a great time, and it was a great venue, but the arcade could use some work.

Kidding aside, the fact that every mall has one makes them ordinary and not at all special. The reason we're talking about Fisher Mall's arcade aptly named Playland is because they have something else going for them aside from your run off the mill video games (which they have plenty of). What makes them different is that after going up a flight of stairs, you'll be greeted with a full sized basketball court. I was actually surprised when I learned of this because it is such a strange place to put a court in. What's more is that beside the court, there are a couple of billiard tables and dart boards you can rent out too. A slight problem with the court is that a concrete pillar gets in the way. Whenever I tell people this they get turned off so I attached a photo with a slipper and a pen for scale. I'm high-tech like that.

Despite rapid…read moreadvances in technology and the rise of high-quality personal gaming consoles and PC games, there's always a bit of room left in one's heart when it comes to playing a favorite arcade game. In this case, the Power Station at the Rockwell Powerplant (that's a lot of power right there!) holds a special place in my heart. Powerplant Mall, being located in a business area like Rockwell is a strategic place for meetings and gatherings. This is where Powerstation personally comes into play. Whether I'm early or someone is running late for a meeting, or I'm simply waiting for my significant other to have her class conclude at the next door law school, I can always head to the arcade to kill some time. I actually also treat these instances as an opportunity for stress relief. I highly suggest my favorite first-person shooter, Razing Storm: the Complete Destruction Machine Gun Game. As the name suggests, there's nothing sophisticated, just all-out mayhem! I like how the gun gives you the sensation that you're actually shooting a real gun (sort of). After an hour or so of continuous play, your dominant hand may feel numb. It's even more fun if you tag a friend along, or the person you'll be having a business meeting with. Talk about establishing rapport!

Trying to beat all those old games I couldn't when I was young really makes me feel all those hard earned dollars my parents spent was wasted but now I'm an adult and have a slightly better advantage and I lose my own hard earned dollars. This time zone is in a good location in bgc high street. Right after or before you eat you can play here with the kids or with yourself. This location has a good selection of toys and a few karaoke booths. Only problem here is the staff is kind of slow. Lines can build up and sometimes on the busiest days they only have 2 people working with about 50 customers in the store. Games also breakdown a lot. Everytime I go here I notice there's a few games offline But still a good place to go to spend quality time with the kids

All of my friends are in college now, and we still like to frequent the nearest Timezone for a good time. Wherever we are, no matter which mall we find ourselves in, there will almost always be a Timezone somewhere. I guarantee it. No mall is complete without Timezone. And while we might not be as cutthroat competitive as we used to be on who earns the most tickets or who gets to purchase that giant stuff toy, we make sure to play all our favorite games to de-stress ourselves. (Except when it comes to air hockey. All bets are off. We are crazy competitive with air hockey.) Games like Mario Kart and DDR. Or my personal favorite, Silent Hill. Or whatever horror-themed game lets us shoot zombies or equally undead beings on a rampage. Then a crowd gathers around us for some reason, and we keep adding credits and reviving ourselves either until we beat the boss at the end of the game or bleed to death onscreen when we run out of tokens and can't rush to the loading station in time. Then we lose, and the realization sinks in: "Crap. We spent all that money on video games...Oh well." Timezone is fun, plain and simple. To this day, I still keep my Power Cards in my wallet.
