The gaps between the sod pieces were 1/2 inch or more therby evaporating the water that is on an aitomatic sprinkler. I had to rehire another Landscaper to Re Install the grass after preparing the ground and leveling with 25 bags of 2 cubic yard of potting soil. Until today, Manuel has not returned my calls. Not recommended to hire this business. It was good I had to get another Landscaper to check the lawn, otherwise my investment in the grass installation could have all been lost.

We had him remove 2 trees and three stumps, grass removal, at least 100 linear ft of concrete planters, random plants, a lot of pavers, and cut our patio slab open and replace it once we updated our plumbing, gas, and electrical. New sprinkler heads, valves and automatic water system set up. Alejandro was so professional and friendly. He came out and provided a quote, was there bright and early yesterday with a colleague. He left after discussing what would happen and told us to reach out if we needed anything. His one guy spent all day digging out, flushing and replacing all the sprinkler heads. Water was turned off for only about an hour as he replaced all 5 water valves. Then Alejandro came back at the end of the job to set up the automatic water system and test everything one last time. My folks are elderly and have been neglecting their lawn and so many sprinkler heads were completely buried, and the water timer was at least 30 years old. I would use Hidden Gem Landscaping again in a heartbeat!! Already recommended them to friends for other projects. Tried to offer them a tip since they replaced way more sprinkler heads than what we discussed and thought would need to be replaced thinking that the price for parts at least would adjust the initial quote, but Alejandro kindly refused.

If his crew lacks experience in doing a task, he has them just leave it as is and simply tells the customer/me, what I'm asking for "is not possible and he doesn't have time nor the money to try and fix my issues". Every time I'd call for an issue, he'd be upset screaming and threaten to take his people off the job. One day he will be pleasant and easy to work with and the next day he can be disrespectful and unprofessional. On top of everything else, he will be deceitful. He promised me "Duramax" Vinyl fencing. He provided me an invoice specifying Duramax was purchased. Once the job was done, I had already lost all trust in this man and grew suspicious, so I called a Duramax rep to come out and inspect the product....I'm glad I did. The fence he used was a cheap product manufactured in China. I went as far as calling the company shown on the invoice - AG Fencing Supply. They told me they do not sell Duramax and do not sell to contractors. I spent thousands of dollars for peace of mind a "licensed contractor" would do a good job without having any issues - I was so wrong.

This company is unprofessional and unreliable…read more Unfortunately, our pine tree was stricken by the bark beetle and died very quickly. I'm concerned for my family's safety since it's a very large tree and sits just behind our house. We're anxious to get the tree removed and had scheduled Jose and his crew to cut it down over the weekend. When they arrived the first thing Jose said was "the tree looks bigger now!". He spent about 15 minutes looking at the tree and discussing it with his crew and then told me that they would not do the job. He made up an excuse about a cable up high cutting into a branch making it unsafe to go up higher in the tree. I explained that it was not a cable cutting into a branch. What he was looking at were two separate support cables installed years ago by Davey Landscaping (a very reputable company). The cables are in fact making it safer to work in the tree. Even after I pointed out his error he said "well we're not going to do it " and left abruptly. I think he and his crew felt the price Jose quoted was too low for the job, but rather than saying so and having a conversation, he chose to make up a story like a child. Sad

I think he takes other methods as well. I needed some tall hedges topped, and 2 tall trees topped and thinned. I needed one tree, which was dropping unwanted leaves into my neighbor's yard, cut completely on one side. Joe managed to do it without the tree looking too odd - though it is an odd request to cut off half a tree. I would definitely call Joe again for tree services.
