Summary: I contacted Dan's Superior Service to replace two igniter switches on my stove top. It took this company 4 months and $1,000 to complete what should have been a simple repair. Zero proactive communication from Dan or Gene and a serious lack of transparency on pricing structure. I was surprised by each invoice. The stove works now, but only after months of me managing their process. I wouldn't recommend Dan's Superior Service to anyone expecting a professionally run operation. read more

Searched everywhere for someone who could repair a viking range, and finally was recommended to call Dan from the parts company. Even though he is 2 hours from me, he came by on a Saturday in between other jobs and helped me fix what would normally have been close to $1000 in new igniters, and two trips. You could tell Dan really knew his stuff and was also willing to walk through and show me some of the tricks of the trade including using an unused circuit on the igniter which saved me having to buy a new one, and adjusting the spark (things?) so that they lit on the first or second try instead of the 200th. I sadly have to echo others comments here. Extremely poor follow through on promises. We initially had a good experience and Dan knows his Viking products and made a good repair and was a nice guy. However we needed an additional part and it's been a year of waiting. I would call and be told oh it's on back order and then silence. We understood Covid part delays etc but no excuse for the part not to have arrived now. Then you call again and the lady says oh let me check and I will call you tomorrow and never does. Voicemails go unanswered. So we will have to find an alternate company who can service Viking as it's clear we will never hear back. Maybe they pick and choose the work they do and our remaining repair isn't worth it for them but would have been nice to have been told that months ago instead of being strung along. read more

I set up an appointment with a woman on the phone to have my oven worked on. She was friendly enough and helpful. I had to wait over a week for my appointment, and move some things around to make sure I was available. On the morning of the appointment, they simply never showed up. My wife and I both called and left voicemails to try to find out what happened. To this day they have never called back. I have different company coming tomorrow to fix it. Definitely recommend Dan ( who owns the business) he's extremely knowledgeable about the Viking brand, he was able to come by the same day after speaking to his wife who handles all the bookings. He always has new parts with him in his truck rather than order the part and delay the process. He even mentioned that my fridge had a recall part that needs to be ordered and he'll be able to fix it without any problems. Would definitely recommend him to anyone with a Viking product. read more

I strongly suggest you avoid using this company. They do not respond to messages left on voicemail. When you do speak with the owner she will tell you she needs to research your order or question and then does not get back to you. This happened to me on numerous occasions. This guy is a complete crook. Very unprofessional. Came to fix our range hood and took our $400 after claiming it was fixed only to have it quit working worse then before less then an hour after he left. Then it took months for him to respond and his response was that it was not his fault. Professionals own up, don't make excuses and make things right by their customers. "Customer is always right" used to mean something, but not with this guy! He wouldn't own up to his failure to resolve the problem and would not refund any part of the fee he charged. Steer clear! I really don't like to write poor reviews but this one is truly warranted. Dan is a nice guy but his wife handles all of the arrangements for ordering parts and scheduling appts and she's just plain nuts. She'll talk your ear off about personal stuff and then not follow through on the reason for your call. Dan came out and assessed our problem (supposedly) and said he would order the part and return to do the install. Weeks went by and we did not hear from them. We called several times to check on the status and each time we were told by Dan's wife that she would check on it and get back to us and never did. I finally called the Viking company directly to see if the part we needed was in stock and in fact it was and has been in stock this whole time. I believe she never actually ordered the part. After speaking with Viking, I called her back (a 6th time) and told her that the part was in stock. She said she doesn't order from the East coast, only the West coast. I asked her why, if the West coast location did not have this part for 6 weeks, she wouldn't go ahead and order from the East coast location and that I would pay the difference in shipping costs. She yelled at me, told me to find someone else and hung up on me. I wonder if they are ordering non-approved Viking parts and that that is the reason she got very angry and abruptly hung up on me. I know Dan keeps a stash of used parts in his truck to use on jobs so who the heck knows the quality of the parts they use. So, I've been without a working oven now for 6 weeks. I've cooked all of my holiday dinners for family (from before Thanksgiving and beyond New Years) in my toaster oven because of their lack of competency to get this repair done in a timely manner. Especially infuriating since the part that we needed has been available all along. The worst service I have ever received. Steer clear of them. read more

Dan seems quite capable and experienced but that's where it ends. Trying to get something as simple as a call back was incredibly difficult as we left multiple messages before a call back. Then, once you are able to speak with the company the woman on the phone was incredibly rude and condescending. Ordering a part took over 3 months for them to complete. I got tired of waiting, went online, ordered the part myself and it took only 5 days for me to receive it. There are many good service companies in the area and while I do believe Dan is very capable and likely good at what he does... it is not worth your time to try and deal with this company. I scheduled with Dan to have our Viking range serviced for a 9am service call. The morning of, he didnt show, so I called and left a message verifying the appointment. His scheduler called me back an hour later to let me know he was running slightly behind because he slept in. I let her know a call ahead would have been appreciated as I had to rearrange my own schedule to accommodate. She confirmed my appointment was set for 9 and he'd be here around 10:30. Dan called at 10:40 to let me know he was 15 minutes out. I let him know I'd appreciate a discount given the time waisted that I waited for him. He explained he wasn't late because they give customers a window of time they'll be there of 3 hours. I let him know that his scheduler isn't telling customers that so I wasnt aware and that would have been helpful. He then said see ya soon and hung up on me. I went ahead and cancelled my service with them as it did not seem to be a good experience with a high end Viking repair company as far as customer service. Not sure how his work is, but there is a total disrespect for customers time and very little responsibility taken for wasting it. read more

A Gem! After having a horrible experience with another company we are so grateful to find Dan. He is courteous, honest, came after hours to help us, diagnosed the true problem and also saved us around $900 in unnecessary expenses. He took a very stressful couple of months (with the other company) and in less than an hour made us so happy we wanted to hug him and make him a family member. Rory came out to service our brand new refrigerator that was inexplicably not cooling during this most recent summer heat wave. 90 degrees and my food is spoiling, so I was really hopeful that they could fix this quick. No disappointments here! In fact, over the last year we have worked with many vendors as we've remodeled our house, and this was quite possibly the best experience to date. Rory took the time to fix our fridge and then walked me through the use and care of the other appliances we purchased, and it was very educational and professional. I learned a great deal. He even tightened up a loose fridge door handle. Even though they are based somewhat far away from Seattle in Vancouver, WA, I would definitely call them again (we were put in touch with them via our appliance warranty department). Horrible service!! They can't keep there appointments, never call when running late or if they are not going to make it. I thought going directly through appliance store and Viking directly would expedite. They straight out lied and said they were waiting for parts before they came back. We had them call out to service our refrigerator that was not cooling. Unfortunately they ended up breaking one of the shelves in the refrigerator which we noticed after they left. We had to take them to small claims court as they promised to fix it but never came through. We ended up winning in court and have a new part on the way. Not trustworthy. read more

Wow... we were connected to Dan via our Home Warranty. He did some work on our KitchenAid dishwasher about a year and a half ago. He had many excuses for why he couldn't diagnose it right and it took three attempts. IT needed a new control panel... he ordered the wrong one (we have a beige dishwasher, he ordered a white panel) but frankly I just didn't want to do deal with it any longer. Two months ago our fridge was on the fritz and our dishwasher also needed some replacement brackets. I called our home warranty and Dan's "Superior" Service was assigned to me. After three weeks of not hearing anything I called them and we set up something. I was out of town and so my husband was there to explain the situation. It went just fine (although Dan was grumbling that he didn't make any money on these types of service) and they said the parts were on order. A month later and I hadn't heard anything so I called them and discovered that they hadn't ordered the parts. The office manager was apologetic and said something about staff turnover. So then she ordered them and called me a day or two later and said that she had them in her hand! Great! So we scheduled for Saturday between 10-11AM. I tried calling his cell and the office number and left messages but didn't get any feedback. At 1:30PM I got a call from Dan saying he was 15m out. I said, "Unfortunately I can't be there for 45 minutes - can we do it then?" (because I was visiting my dying friend). He said, "I'll have to reschedule but I'll keep your work order in front of me to see where we can fit you in. Please call the office on Monday and we can reschedule something. We tried to. No answer and the voicemail box was full. So I called his cell phone and explained the situation and asked that he come out. He said maybe this next weekend. I reminded him that it had been two months already and a month of that was due to their error. He said he'd call the office and see what could be done. The office or Dan called my husband back and he tried to figure out a solution. During that time they said "we don't service KitchenAid any longer" but we will figure out a solution for you. Then... get this... Dan called the home warranty and said something to the effect of my husband threatened him and they won't work with us. My husband is the least violent person ever... so now the process starts all over. Please... stay away. This guy bit off more than he could chew and now is blaming his customers for his lack of planning. read more

In mid October we requested a service for our Viking dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer via Viking and they suggested Dan. I called them and Dan was able to come out the 9th of Nov. He was 1.5 hours late and he wasn't done within the timeframe we had setup. This isn't a big problem normally but I had a dentist appointment afterwards that I literally had to run to! He was unable to determine the cause of the dishwasher, that was overflowing, with certainty but he suspected it was the engine. He said he had one in the office and that he would come out and replace it as soon as his scheduled allowed. A staff member then called a few days later, who turned out to be his wife, and setup an appointment for the 22nd. I was happy that I would have a working dishwasher with Thanksgiving a few days away.... The 22nd came and but no Dan in sight. After the two hour window I called the office, the wife answered and recognize me and my appointment and told me that Dan was stuck in Eugene, I live in Portland... After a few calls between me, her and Dan they told me that they had no clue about my service call. They claimed they just had staff that left and that they had no paperwork of me, but they had a part with my name on it... That I wasn't even on their schedule... Remember now that I mentioned earlier that the wife knew who I was when I first called.... Dan then said that he had no idea what caused the dishwasher to overflow and that he had to research it and get back to me, a week later and no one has attempted to call me. They did let it slip during these conversations that I was one among many with lost paperwork and unrealized appointments! I have called Viking and the place it was purchased and notified them as well. I would give them NO star if it was possible. There are other authorized service companies in Portland contact Viking before considering this company and you will save yourselves from a lot of time wasted and frustration. read more

Unprofessional. Scheduled service for warranty repair work. Was told I would hear back a few days prior to appointment to confirm. When I didn't hear back I called and left a message asking to confirm. Gave all the pertinent details - even repeated my phone number twice. Did not receive a call back. On the date of service, I called them again. Finally, got a live person on the phone who proceeded to tell me that the service call had been cancelled. I asked who might of cancelled it since I'm certain I did no such thing. I was told that the manufacturer must have cancelled it and I needed to call them if I had any questions. So...I called the manufacturer. Spoke to a customer service rep there. Manufacturer said that not only did they not cancel the service call but they don't have the ability to do so even if they wanted to. On further research, the customer service rep discovered that Dan's had cancelled the call after claiming that they couldn't contact the customer (me). Interesting. I received zero phone calls from Dan's and zero phone messages. The number they had on file would be my mobile phone number since it's my only phone (no landline). Was it just inconvenient to travel up from Vancouver to provide service? If they have multiple techs were they just all booked up? How about a phone call if you just can't provide service on the promised date? read more

Dan just came out and repaired my Viking refrigerator. I have been trying to get this repaired for months but because we're on an Island, it was tough to find someone. The previous bid I got was $3,493 to repair. When I called the manufacturer, they told me that price was crazy high and they gave me Dan's Superior info as an authorized dealer. Dan charged me less than half the previous bid, and clearly knew what he was doing. I will definitely call Dan again and refer him to anyone with Viking appliances. read more

I had a great experience. I have a new Viking range and the convection fan was bent, so it made a horrible racket when running. Albert Lee Appliance put me in touch with these guys. Rory, who was very professional and friendly, came right on time. Unfortunately he had to order the part, but the next scheduled visit was right on time,he installed the new fan and motor within a 1/2 hour. Called Dan's appliance service to have service for my Electrolux Washer. The washer was 4 month's old. They were prompt in saying they could come out the next day. They called the next day and said that they had a service technician not come to work and that they couldn't make it that day, but that they could be here on Saturday, two days later. Awesome. On Saturday they said they would be here between 1 and 4. At 5 o'clock they still hadn't shown up. Wife waited around all day for them to show. I then called and the secretary and she called me back and said they were definitely coming. So I called my wife, I was out of town, and told her they were coming, hold on. I called the technician who happened to be Dan the owner. He didn't answer. I left a message and texted him. I said it was alright if he didn't come and we could reschedule, however, I needed to know so I could let my wife off the hook. No call or text from him or anyone at the Service. On Sunday night at 8:30 PM I received a text message from Dan saying there was a miscommunication and now they were 3 weeks out for service. I sent him a text saying that this was great. 1. They didn't show on the first appointment, they rescheduled, and 2. They didn't show on the second rescheduled appointment and 3. They didn't bother to call or answer their phone or call back when I tried to get ahold of them. Dan then sent me a text that they didn't want to work on cheap Electrolux appliances or their cheap owners. Hah! I was shocked he would say that. It was a surreal experience. I had the WORST experience ever with one of their REPAIRMEN. He was extremely rude and unhelpful. My family has a THREE (3) YEAR WARRANTY for our Viking 36" Cooktop (retails for $2199) that was only 6 months old when one of the burners stopped working. When asked what had happened, I told him that I did not know but the day before it stopped working, a pot had boiled over. I cleaned it up right away and even cooked two meals after that. But then one of the burners (a different one from the one that had boiled over) stopped working. After the repairman made a diagnosis about what was wrong, he went to his truck and called the Viking representative and then came back inside and told me Viking would NOT cover the $1500 repair. When I asked him why, he said, "Viking will not cover an unattended pot boiling over." I responded: "It was not an unattended pot. I was in the kitchen when the pot boiled over." He rudely told me: "Pots do not boil over unless they are unattended." Can you believe this guy?!? Again I told him, "I was in the kitchen when the pot boiled over." "A watched pot does not boil over," he insisted rudely, basically calling me a liar in my own home, "and Viking will never cover an unattended pot boiling over." When I called Viking myself, they said they would indeed cover the repair. I will of course have our cooktop repaired by another company that is NOT Dan's Superior Service. I also have a 5 year-old son who is very friendly and curious and the repairman ignored his friendly "Hello!" several awkward times until I said, "He is saying hello to you."
