Wow so it does get worse. My neighbor and I left early so we could drive by the location of where my car was and to arrive at Dan's as soon as he opened. We stopped by the accident site, he further explained how everything went down since I had visual aids, and we then proceeded to search for my missing keys. Just in case. No luck. So we head to Dan's. Once there I knock on the door of what I'm guessing is Dan's (there is no sign or anything) and meet him for the first time. I politely say I'm here to look for my keys and to arrange a tow. I get to my car (the windows ARE rolled up. Just like the officer told me) look at the damage and look for my keys with again no luck. I then go to my neighbors car to make some calls to try and find the cheapest way to do things. I have full coverage so I can get a locksmith out to do things for me but it turns out that my key might need to be programmed so its best if its at the establishment doing it. And I need a tire. I go explain this to Dan. He then tells me that it looks like my tire can be fixed vs. replacing it. I ask him if he'd be willing to do that. His response is that I don't have a key. You don't need a key to replace a tire so I convince him to take a look at it. So I'm now thinking hey maybe we can work stuff out in a civil manner today. We're all out by my vehicle, he starts jacking it up and loosens the lug nuts. Since I plan on suing this individual I attempt to get information I was advised to get. I ask how exactly he towed my car. With what type of truck, from the front or back, etc. He told me he used a wrecker and that he towed it from the front. This concerns me since there is damage to the front of the car, and its front wheel drive. He overheard me saying that and decides to stop what he's doing, tell me that he's done "fucking with me," that im going to try to blame everything on him, gets in my face and tells me to "get the fuck off his lot." I do and tell him that im arranging for it to be towed. He follows us to the edge of his lot and continues to yell ridiculous comments so I tell him to stop antagonizing us, he told me to leave, I did, im arranging plans for my car and to leave us alone. He stormed off. While on the phone with my insurance agent, my neighbor looks up and asks what is going on. Dan decided to go get his tow truck to try moving my vehicle to his garage so he can charge us for two days storage. While still on the phone I inform him that if he touches my car the police will be called since I am doing what he instructed me to do. So keep in mind my car has NOT been in storage. My agent finds a tow and tells me itll be about 45 mins. We chill in the car waiting, notice Dan conducting business with another individual near my car and continue waiting. Our view is slightly obstructed by a totaled van so I cant see my vehicle directly. I realize I forgot my sunglasses, car seats, and other misc. items so I go to get them. I then notice my window has been rolled down about 2 inches. They're automatic windows so I jiggle it to make sure its not off the track or anything. It's not. So how did my window get rolled down without my keys? Ask Dan. For all we know he has them. So I try knocking on his door. No luck. Then, realizing he kicked me off the lot, I take my stuff back to my neighbors car and try calling. Still nothing. So then I start looking at the receipt that Dan gave us after my neighbor paid him for his "services." When I called the day before to ask for estimates I was told that there was a $100 tow fee and that if my car was placed in his garage that there would be a $15/day storage fee. On the receipt he originally wrote $100 for the tow then changed it to $120 and also went ahead and charged us for the two days of storage. Since Dan was not willing to cooperate with me I asked for my insurance rep that I was on the phone with to transfer me over to the police so I could request an officer to try to talk to Dan for me since he refused to cooperate. The sheriff was also no help. I asked for him to request a document stating how Dan charges for his services, and to ask how my windows got rolled down. He talked to Dan, came back, told me that Dan's repair does not even have a document explaining his services and fees, and that this was a civil manner that I needed to talk with an attorney about. I think it goes without saying that I plan on doing so. So apparently, it is completely legal to write numbers down on a piece of paper, charge your customers whatever amount you configure, and to do it all in a manner that I find unacceptable. I know this is a super long review. I feel that these details are entirely necessary when it comes to explaining why I would NOT recommend Dan's Repair for any auto service that you need. Even if it's an emergency. Take your business elsewhere. He does not deserve your money. Plus if you end up "being a pain in his ass" he'll over charge you and you can't stop him from doing so. read more
