I have had them service/work on, a Camaro, Camary, Explorer, Ram and Tacoma. I had taken my Tacoma to a popular tire place in Iowa City to have an alignment and tires mounted as I have a 3" lift on my truck, and they were willing to do it.(Archies could not due to the lift) Huge mistake! I left there with a light of low tire coming on. Took it back and they told me I needed a whole new computer panel(?)- the thing under the dash where they find what is wrong. I took it to Archies..false! I did NOT need a new item; they had loosened the wire in the back of that piece and all it needed was to be plugged back in! Russ's was great for keeping my costs to a minimum while still keeping my car on the road. I've since upgraded the car and am more interested in keeping it in shape rather than doing the bare minimum, and I've found that Russ's is still trying to sell me the cheap. Pro: Your car will stay on the road, likely at lower cost. And the location is great if you want to walk around downtown while they are fixing you up. Heck, with the cash you're saving, you could stop in one of the fancy boutiques and buy a nice dress. Con: They'll keep telling you to put off changing your breaks for another month even when they're grinding and rumbling at you until you turn the radio up so loud that you can't hear them. I think we all like to save a little cash now and then, but eventually, you just have to fix the breaks.

The staff was friendly and helpful during my call to schedule service and on the day of service. I didn't have to wait long during the service. This is all good, but probably true of many places. What set this service apart from other good automotive service I've had was the Vehicle Inspection Report I received. I got a text with a link to the report. It was like other reports I've received when getting vehicles serviced - a multi-point inspection with color-coded indicators of the status of each item . . . with pictures! I could see the air filters, the fluid checks, and the corrosion on my battery terminals (which made me feel more comfortable authorizing a little extra work). Maybe this is the future, but it was a first for me. Very helpful! My only slight disappointment is that I prefer to wait during service, and this option is usually reserved for early morning or early afternoon. It would be nice to have a little more scheduling flexibility, so I give John's 4.5 stars, (rounded up)!

My repair was fully covered under Jeep warranty, so taking it to the dealer would cost $0. Al, who advised me of my options said I could just go get it fixed free at the dealer (which he communicated to them before I went). The point is that these guys could have easily gone the "shady auto shop" route and charged me for something the warranty covered, but instead these guys were honest.
