I have not toured the entire range so I can only speak for the area I have visited. I used Bay #1 both times I went. The range is setback off of the road. It is however, easy to find. I've shot in various bays on the backside of the property. I've always felt as safe as a person can feel at a gun range, and I appreciate how well kept the grounds are. I think an outside range feels safer than an indoor range in general. Also, having a variety of set ups available for shooting is fantastic. As long as you adhere to the rules, you can set up almost any course of fire you want. I've always had a positive shooting experience at South River but I wouldn't become a member for many reasons. It's really far from my house. Also, I'm not sure how comfortable they are with Black people. I've visited many times since that first time and sometimes it's uncomfortable the way they watch us. It's a terrific place to go and make new friends because they have a natural order of being able to show up and playing around robin or in a pickup game.
