Five colleagues and I, at the end of an amazing week at a work conference, we're in desperate need…read moreof some food. Getting in a little late to go to London, we turned our attention to something close to the Gatwick airport. After finally sorting our Uber rides, we were off to The Farmhouse. First impressions were of a traditional British pub experience, which was a good start. Our clumsiness of grabbing a table and figuring out whether we needed to go to the bar to order or wait to be served, surely gave us away as "not locals." Our server was friendly and provided us with our menus and took our drinks order. The one shortfall was that the menu had a number of items not available and with an assist from a customer, two of us needed a rethink on their meal. In all, it was 4 Fish & Chips, One Farmhouse Burger, and a Battered Halloumi burger, plus an order of calamari, and 4 tomato and garlic soups. There were zero plates taken off the table that were not empty! I had the Halloumi burger, which had a great, crispy batter topped with some guacamole mayo with a red sauce on the side. Really good. Then we doubled down and hit the dessert menu! Two warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream and four plum tarts. We asked for some custard on the side because who doesn't like custard?! Save for the debate about whether it was more a pie than a tart, another set of empty plates were the only evidence left. Would definitely recommend The Farmhouse!

We also go the Camembert, olives, and some ciders. This was definitely worth the effort to leave the airport, get an Uber, and then return to the airport. Cute place with good food.

I got the last space, but I couldn't see if overflow parking was available. The appetisers were very good and beautifully presented. The duck that my friend had looked wonderful. Our main courses were very good. The cod was lovely and the steaks were nice. My steak was a little fatty and I found the gristle very chewy on the end piece. I also like my triple cooked chips a little more crispy, but that's just my taste. The desserts were lovely and again beautifully presented. The ginger cake with chocolate mousse and the ganache plate were particularly good. The table next to us has the beef wellington and I would definitely order that if I went again. It looked phenomenal! Overall a lovely experience.

This restaurant excels at everything it seems..what a delight!…read more - Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating - Perfect service, attentive but not too much - Small thoughtful extras - Excellent food - Very well priced Came in for lunch. Had the 3 course lunch menu for £38 (what a steal!). Lamb belly for starter was delicious, well seasoned and put together dish. Mains I tried the pork collar which was very good but the house made black pudding was phenomenal, best I have ever had..inventively spiced, wish I could buy a kilo to take home. Dessert was fig leaf panna cotta, light and flavoursome. Had a coffee with dessert which was also excellent. Its very clear that they try to do everything to the best standard possible. Wish I lived closer.

A real find this place! Looking for a 'gastropub' with a seaside view, excellent value and friendly…read moreservice, then make a bee line for The Boat House in Freshwater! Located right on the sea front, car park at the back (a bit tight), location is excellent. The decor is trendy tasteful, all spic and span, looks great and might even be a bit off-putting thinking you might have to pay accordingly, but, no, excellent value, really good quality, fresh, locally sourced menu. Full range of drinks and you can stay there too. Highly recommended.

The barmaid asked if she wanted doubles and my wife said yes again. The barmaid poured the cognac and placed in nice glasses over hot water. She then charged my wife £58!!!! Yes £58. When my wife queried it she said "Well it's XO and it's £12.50 per measure - I did show you the bottle!" Unbelievable and not the way to upsell. So, £25 per drink! Ok, then. We went there quite regularly when on the island - as did family. None of us will be going back so they've lost good business. It's not the way to treat people. Oh, by the way, they had regular cognac on the shelf at £4 per measure. Nice. Honest. Spoiled a birthday. Should be ashamed.
