Next time you need waitresses for your party, ask for Joanne, Elizabeth, Christine and Melissa. These 4 ladies worked amazingly together. They took care of everything without even having to be asked. Susanne always responded quickly, answered our questions right away, and made everything feel easy and stress free. The venue was beautiful, with amazing skyline views, and the service was outstanding. One thing our guests especially appreciated was the variety of food options available. There were plenty of choices to accommodate different dietary needs and preferences, which made everyone feel included. The food was delicious. The chicken marsala, baby potatoes, broccoli rabe, and steak were all excellent and received many compliments from our guests. The drinks, atmosphere, and overall experience exceeded our expectations. We received so much positive feedback and many people commented that it was the best end of year event we have had. This 45 year old family run Island Park landmark runs like a classy old Rolls Royce. I almost felt guilty wearing jeans and a button down sport shirt in the nearly empty dining room. Time literally seems to slow down in here! We ordered Tilapia Almondine and Sole Athenian (stuffed with spinach and feta). Both were delicious! The prices are very reasonable and for a couple including one dessert to share was about $45.00. So don't fight the crowds at trendy downtown bistros... slow down and actually make dining out a classy event... like your grandparents did.

We went and meet with Nick and in the beginning he was nice we left a deposit and signed the contract. When we were talking to Nick we asked him about the parking lot as there was a lot amount of cars in the lot, he said I rent spaces out and they pay me, I then proceeded to ask where the guests will be parking and he said in the spots that were available if not on the street. Which I didn't think was right that to make guest of the party park on the street and not move the cars in his lot. we made him aware my aunt and myself are highly allergic to shrimp and he wrote this on the contract, and said he will change the oil on Wednesday before the party as he does fry the shrimp in the same oil as everything else, he said the final payment will be due the Wednesday before party as that's when he places the order for food for the party, well this is when Nicks attitude made a 360 turn real fast. February he was leaving for Florida and he contacted us for more money as he said he's going to Florida and needed more money, we thought ok that's strange but we went and put more money Down. We then asked to do a food tasting as we never had his food before and have heard from people after booking the party that the food was terrible. We don't go by people's words so we wanted to try the food. He had us come while a party was going on and he knew how allergic I was to shrimp and brings out 4 dishes 1 dish for the 4 of us there and all 4 plates had shrimp on them. Now this put a huge concern with us as we told him numerous times how highly allergic I was to shrimp, his response was that's right you are allergic and laughed it off. WELL THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE AS MY SISTER, AND MY NIECES ALL TRIED THE FOOD and I didn't want to take a chance of cross contamination or going into anaphylactic shock. The penne alla vodka was watered down no taste, chicken franchese was watered down with a tinge of lemon tasting.. We went again in May to put more money down and at that time he was asking us how many people we are having, what colors we were thinking, another strange question as the party was still a month and a half away. We told him we didn't know as the RSVP date was still a month away and we were most likely going to go with blue and gold as that's what my nieces school colors are. When we went in MAY we also explained to him we were not happy with the food and we wanted to bring our own food in and we would do a full open bar and he can provide the carving station and provide 2 dishes.. he agreed to this and said I will definitely work with you on the pricing. Which we honestly thought the pricing was absurd @65.00 per person for adults and we were still bringing in all the food. Technically we were bringing the whole party to his venue. Every time we went to the hall during the week to give more money he was constantly rushing us and all he was worrying about was getting more money, the hall was completely disgusting from the party's from past weekends as it seems obviously they don't care how the place looks while showing guest.Fast forward to the week before the party he called my sister asking for the final balance and head count, my sister said she had to discuss with me as I was not available when he called, I then reached back out to him and he wanted to meet up on Father's Day for final payment and color of linens. I told him we weren't available on Father's Day, he then said what about Monday I told him I'm working a 12 hour shift Monday and Tuesday that Wednesday as discussed before works better for us, he said no Wednesday isn't good and he need the final payment. Well after working a 12 hour shift on Monday June 22 we got there at 9pm. So my sister and I get there and he says let me show u the room and how we will set this up, again the room was completely filthy from the party he had from June 20. He said oh we haven't had time to clean the room but on the day of your party the room will be cleaned. We go into the office to go over everything and I specifically said u are changing the oil on Wednesday as discussed from our prior conversations and his answer was absolutely not, I just changed the oil on Saturday as it was dirty and I can't change it again. This is when I explained to him, we told him several times how allergic I was and one of our aunts and how he kept saying he will and it was clearly said on contract. He started yelling at us saying he can't do that and my sister said how dare you yell at us as we are paying guest. This now also put more red flags up and my sister said I honestly can't trust the oil. He then said fine I guess i will change the oil in front of you when you come on Saturday to show you its cleaned.

Patrick and Leandra greeted us with such warmth that we looked forward to every visit. Jay, our Manager, was an absolute gem -- knowledgeable, organized, and incredibly patient. She has an amazing design eye and went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect, from décor to timing to keeping this panicked bride calm! The food was outstanding. At our tasting, we were surprised with full-sized portions of each dish -- and the food served on our wedding day was exactly the same: hot, delicious, and beautifully plated. Our maître d', DJ, took care of us all evening and made sure we had everything we needed. The private bridal suite stocked with hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a personal server was such a classy touch. The service from every Coral House staff member was impeccable -- professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. Even staff not assigned to our party greeted us with smiles and offers to help. Dream Events, led by Samantha, handled our entertainment package flawlessly -- the DJ (Christian) was phenomenal, the bartender kept the drinks flowing, the décor was stunning, and the photographer captured every moment. Our guests are still talking about how amazing everything was -- especially the ice cream cart after all that dancing! Coral House and Dream Events delivered above and beyond what they promised. We really enjoyed working with her on the wedding planning itself. 2) The room looked absolutely beautiful the day of. The decor was beautiful and overall I was blown away with the set up. 3) The food was absolutely delicious, my guests raved about the food. Now the cons... 1) We were extremely disappointed in our Maître D. I wish I remembered his name. First off, he was extremely underdressed in a way that did not demonstrated he was the one running the show and in charge. Second, when we were finishing photos in the main room and my guests were coming, he was absolutely nowhere to be found. We needed him to usher people into the bar room so I could run to the bridal suite. Then he was absolutely nowhere to be found when we needed to line up for the ceremony then reception. It was just an overall trend that he was nowhere to be found when we needed him and was not helpful with guiding us throughout the party. 3) As helpful and kind as Jay was during the pre-wedding, when my husband came to her office scrambling because we had no idea where the Maître D was or what to do, she just stood there and didn't help us. She saw the panic we were all experiencing in with figuring out what to do and some guidance and wasn't helpful. 4) Considering we still gave Jay a tip at the end of the night, not a single person at Coral House called us the next day or week after to see how everything went and to tell us if we left anything there (which we know we did, but didn't know what exactly or how much). We know a (hopefully empty) card box and a few mr&mrs signs were left there (which we weren't schlepping back there for), and we were hopeful some cocktail napkins and flowers were left (which we would have came for) Not a single phone call or follow up. Overall the front of the house, guest experience was great and my guests had a fantastic time, but you would have thought it was their first wedding there considering how much lack of guidance we had behind the scenes and disregard of checking in. All of our vendors have followed up to see how the night went except Coral House.
