(Officially called their Late Night Market) -Lots of fun activities including a live band with awesome music to dance to, art activities, and open access to various artwork (My favorite room was the one with all the sacred Christian paintings.) -A relaxed environment with very friendly and helpful staff Cons for this event: -Long lineups at coat check -Certain exhibits are not open at this time of the evening such as the house that is attached to the gallery (Will come back during the day to check this out.) -Slightly on the pricey side. The finger food, for example, costs around $5 for a small portion so if you have a big appetite, be sure to have supper before coming here. The day of the event, the crew of 3 (manager, instructor and model) showed up early as promised, quickly got to work setting up and were ready right on time. Of course, we weren't. While we waited for the rest of our guests to arrived the NudeTO crew patiently waited for about 30-40 minutes with ZERO complaints. Our model Carl literally hid in the bathroom the whole time so as not to ruin the surprise. When we finally started the instructor was SO amazing. We had a group of 25 girls drawing and she kept everyone on track. Our model Carl. Omg. He was something out of this world. I wish I could write all of the hilarious comments I was told about him after but they are not PG13. So good looking. Now, let me get to the best/worst part. In the middle of the class (which was set up in our basement) the upstairs toilet leaked into the basement causing complete chaos. We had to take like a 30 min break while things got cleaned up. Again, no complaints or stress from the NudeTO crew. Once we were able to restart, they got everyone focused again so quickly and the toilet was forgotten. I was SO impressed and incredibly grateful to them. In the days since, I have received numerous compliments on how much fun everyone had, how amazing Carl was, best bachelorette ever, etc. Do not hesitate to hire NudeTO. We worked very hard and saved a huge portion of our incomes just to make our dream hotel come true. We poured $200,000 into our savings and hours and hours and hours into this event to make sure we gave our guests an experience of a lifetime. Toronto Jazz Collective were the last vendor I could possibly predict to ruin our wedding - I was wrong. ///Planning Stage/// I found Toronto Jazz Collective online. Their youtube videos with their performance looked fantastic. My planner wanted us to use a band that was more well-known and established in Toronto. However, I wanted to give these guys a chance. Against my planner's wishes I contacted Toronto Jazz Collective. The planning with them was far from ideal: 1. Josh Lane, the manager of the group was very pushy with deposits. He emailed us numerous times asking us to 'pay by this day or else'. I brushed this off as over-enthusiastic sales. 2. The band said their gear was not compatible with our equipment so they charged another $800 for an AV technician bringing the total from $2,500 to $3,300 3. The band refused to play past 11pm. Given we invested so much on many different acts, even though the planner asked if they could even do 11:15pm they refused 4. The band demanded dinner which at the Ritz Carlton costed $50/person x 5 = $250 and valet at the hotel ($50/car) I should have seen the signs but I just wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. ///The day of the wedding/// I made sure the band was the main event and I hyped them up for all my friends and family. I made sure to give the Toronto Jazz Collective the room on a high - The room was buzzing as the dance troupe finished a fantastic act. Everyone sat in excitement as the band started their first song - which I made sure was also our first dance. The moment the vocalist started singing I knew I made a big mistake. The vocalist was not anyone I saw on the youtube videos or any of their marketing material. I wanted to cry. I stood up and looked into my husband's eyes and put on my biggest smile for the cameras, but inside I died a little. The next song was the same - quiet, painful, drawn-out. The vocalist just drowned away with the instruments. Out of courtesy my guests came out to dance with us for the second song. By the third song, the high, buzzing room went flat as half my guests left the room. As I sat at the head table watching the empty dance floor and half empty reception room, 4-5 guests came by to ask when the band would stop playing. Another ten minutes later my own mother came by to ask if we could cut the band short and go on with the cake-cutting so that her friends could go home because the music was making them sleepy. I called my planner over and asked her if she could speak to the band to see what she could do to fix this situation. She came back to say 'its been taken care of' and the DJ continued to play the night. It turns out nothing was taken care of - The band demanded their money for the full set because it is what the contract. I do not blame the Toronto Jazz Collective for asking for the full amount as per laid out on the contract. However, I do blame them for bringing on a really incapable vocalist that was not up to the standards of their price tag. The performance was nowhere near what their youtube videos and online marketing showed. Based on my conversation below it became clear to me that this vocalist was new and that Josh Lane knew that the vocalist was to blame: I called Josh to understand what happened and asked him truthfully (without mentioning the vocalist) if he felt the performance was up to his standards - if he "truly" felt the band brought their best that night. He himself replied with 'the vocalist is not always the same as what is on our videos'. This statement proves that the general manager himself knew the vocalist was the reason I made that call. I would not recommend this band to others as based on my experience they are not reliable and their performance is not dependable. Their performance ruined our $200,000 wedding and they still demanded full payment even though they knew themselves they brought an incapable vocalist. The band cost us $3,600 for 45 minutes of play. They made more than I do working for a month in less than 45 minutes.

This is not one of those huge typical banquets and your not just another number! You feel like a VIP guest invited by the owner; who at all times is in site, the stage and visits you at your table and makes sure all your needs are met! The decor is classy sophisticated and the music is really fun and up beat (mostly European, Russian, Romanian, Latin, jazz and even a mix of the Middle East) and it's always LIVE. I especially love their food! Since I'm a 'foodie' it's definitely a fusion of Europe and some.. And the way it's served is very unique! It's not the traditional 'per plate servings', you gotta see it to believe it! As soon as you arrive you notice the cozy modern fire places, warm decor lit up by cozy candle light, you hear the soft mellow music in the background (before the band goes on) and are amazed as you approach your table; it is set with your 'starter menu' (each event, table setting is customized by you and the management/owner) You will see multiple styles of salad, antipasto style cold cuts, seafood, caviar with fresh crepes and much more!!! Later as the mood picks up and the band starts playing the dance floor gets really full, and in between breaks, as you visit your table for a little break, or a drink you notice the starter apps leaving your table , but don't worry! Their being replaced with warm food, multiple times / and finally your main meals which could include shish-kabobs, Kiev cutlets grilled or baked salmon or other selections (depending on what was chosen during booking) the drinks keep flowing, the music keeps playing and if there's even a tiny ounce left in you, you will be served fresh hot tea and coffee, desserts and fresh fruit! Want to feel like a king or queen for the day? I definitely did! We've even had our children's party here for brunch, they have large screens by the stage, they catered to all our needs, with child friendly entertainment (clowns, dancers etc) kids menu, music and even kids movies playing on those huge screens I mentioned earlier! There seems to be a lot of drama between the management and the entertainment staff as we've witnessed a couple of meltdowns by the singer on more than one occasion. This results in a far less than enthusiastic performance and no singing past 11pm. She also acts aggressively towards patrons as we witnessed when she sang happy birthday to one of the other groups that were celebrating the night we were there. The staff yank the food off the tables quickly, so you need to make sure you eat as soon as they bring it out. There are other oddities that soiled our experience. Upon arrival we were harassed by a rabid coat-check guy who insisted that everyone check their coats. No need to be so aggressive...not a great way to welcome people to the venue. There is also an old guy that comes around taking pictures and tries to sell the prints. If you decide to buy from him, give him exact change. Our friends bought 2 photos from him for $30, but when they gave him two $20 bills he took off without giving them their change. All in all, too much hassle, sketchiness and drama. There are a ton of other similar banquet halls in the area, so we would not consider booking a party here.

Strangest hotel that seems to double up as an art gallery of sorts. It's really quite nifty and…read morehonestly the place has a very visual flair that no other place I've stayed at has and I am rather fond of it for that reason. However, at the end of the day I'm also rather practical, and as a place to *stay* it's high on style, but lower on execution. Not much in the way of sound proofing and HVAC is loud so earplugs recommended. It's kind of like somebody who designed a hotel (room) that doesn't actually use them. This leads to some fun things like a pool table with loads of books and artwork dotted around and communal spaces that function pretty well. But then you have other oddities like a chandelier above that pool table that gets in the way of actually playing it. They use a text service they emphasize over the traditional phone line, but then I couldn't get a fast response to it (I wasn't waiting more than an hour when I could just walk down and get an answer faster). All sorts of odd and small decisions that add up to a stay that's rather quirky for seasoned travelers. That's not getting into the super old elevator too (I'm sure it's charming for some folks, but it was definitely discouraging regular use and I can see it being a problem if you couldn't opt to take stairs). First off there's no space for *your* stuff. There's no space to really put any amount of luggage, no desk space, and the only trash can is in the bathroom. Very minimal places to put your things at all, which makes it feel even more cramped. Spaces for cabinets are just hollow metal stands underneath a tiny tray thing. For two people it's quite hard and we used the tiny bannister that was used for ambient lighting to also hold items cause we were desperate. I hit my head on the hanging rack since it's directly over the only place to put a backpack. It's like they didn't comprehend anyone having check-in sized luggage or someone taller than 5'3". There's barely room to setup a CPAP machine by the bedside, which I've never had to deal with in any other hotel I've stayed at (over ~50 stays to date). The electronic controls for the shade is neat. But then there's the door hanger which if you hang anything on at all will get crunched up against the wood bannister. It's more of a door handle since there's nothing else to pull on to open the bathroom. Then there's the piping like putting the sink in the bed area which is weird. The shower has no door or curtain so the water tends to just spill everywhere and the drain is where the divider would be. It was on the lower end of pricing in Toronto and for a place to crash it was serviceable given it's proximity to things. However, this was the only time my frugal brother told me to straight up just spend a bit more money. It was all fine, but definitely wouldn't be signing up for round two soon.
