The wedding was on Sunday and she advised majority of places (including her salon) were closed on Sundays. Instead of turning me away she came in on her day off and opened up the salon just for me! I was greeted by her lovely assistant Ursa who came in as well on her day off. Immediately I felt like I knew both of them for years. She really listened to what I was looking for and did an amazing job on my hair and makeup. She took her time and we had great conversation and laughs while she worked her magic. I would highly recommend her salon for weddings and would be her regular if I lived in the area. Very close to my hotel (Marriott). She even gave me a ride back after!

Severe chemical damage to my daughter's hair--zero accountability…read more My daughter went to Mavida Salon 93 South Main St. Lodi New Jersey July 6,2026 at 11am for hair color and FULL head of highlights. She booked the appointment with THE OWNER of the salon Cheryl whom i personally spoke with on the phone the night before. She assured me that she would be the one taking my daughter as a client and she did! She also said it's CASH ONLY. My daughter has shoulder length hair, the COLOR price was $50.00, FULL HIGHLIGHTS $150.00 the total was $200.00 with a 20% tip of $40.00. Making the Total of this appointment $240.00 that my daughter paid cash to Cheryl at the end of this incomplete service. Cheryl did not blow dry her hair, she was to busy (obviously overbooked) so my daughter left the salon with wet hair. Cheryl obviously knowing the damage that was done when she had her at the sink as she was shampooing the chemicals and taking the foils out of her hair. Unfortunately, the service resulted in severe chemical breakage, uneven color tone, and very sloppy and unprofessional partial highlights (we booked FULL highlights) and severe irritation on her scalp. Her hair is now extremely brittle and breaking due to the over, processing time by being left UNDER THE DRYER with the bleach and color chemicals on her scalp and hair as she worked on other clients. My daughter continuously asking Cheryl to check her color and highlights and Cheryl kept telling her she's not done yet without even checking a foil. The other workers and clients were observing what was going on, they witnessed the intentional act but said nothing. However, they did make eye gestures to my daughter as if they couldn't understand why Cheryl was not checking her hair. My daughter had chemicals on her head from 11:45 AM until 2 PM. When I called the owner Cheryl to discuss what happened that evening she was dismissive and refused to acknowledge HER error. We trusted this business with my daughter's hair, and instead, it was completely destroyed. A professional salon should know how to safely manage HAIR health. The lack of skill and care shown by the owner herself is completely unacceptable. This was supposed to be a pleasant day for my daughter as a gift from me to her, and it turned out to be a disaster and a very bad experience.

I've been coming to this salon on and off for years -- not for the owner, but for the few stylists who actually know what they're doing when it comes to blondes. I made the mistake of trusting the so-called "master colorist" after not touching my hair for an entire year. Huge regret. For $280, I expected professional results -- not brassy, uneven, yellow-toned hair that clearly shows in every filtered photo posted. Filters won't hide the lack of skill. If you're a stylist and a client sits in your chair asking for a service outside your level -- just say so. There's no shame in turning down work that's not in your wheelhouse. I was told that they focus on time management and they wouldn't want to schedule as a full when he would get partial bc that leftover time could've been filled and vise versa if i scheduled a partial but decided on a full. She doubled down on me figuring it out with my son and then calling back so the appointment would align with their "time management". I brought up the possibility of my 15 yr old son changing his mind mid appointment after discussions with his stylist etc. wouldn't customer satisfaction be the focus in this situation ? What happens then? Does "time management" trump our appointment ? Do you send us away when the chance of interfering with next customers scheduled time comes into play ? I was offered a consultation appointment that would , unfortunately , yes, mean I'd have to come back another day for the actual service. I'm 35 years old I've dyed my hair 6 times 4 perms and countless cuts over the years at probably over a dozen salons. I've never experienced such difficulty just trying to make an appointment; Seemed like a red flag to me. Shame though because their photos of their color services was impressive. Story has a happy ending though : I was able to make an appointment at another salon in Ridgewood after hanging up. I said the same thing I did when I called here , there was no problem at all. I chose this salon because my previous stylist was far away, and my hair was incredibly healthy and strong. My hair expert friends confirmed this; I had been working for a year to grow my hair. However, because they didn't properly lighten my roots, Paulina Sanchez applied a dark and greenish color without asking me. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror. I went home and sent them a video crying, asking, "What did you do?" but they didn't reply. I later visited the salon so they could see it in person, but they ignored me and said, "We are busy." Within 2-3 days, my hair became multiple colors and kept falling out. I developed sores on my scalp and cheeks. The salon staff sent me a long apology message, saying they would fix their mistake and scheduled to correct my hair this week. However, despite knowing how damaged my hair was, they did not consider that it needed time to rest. Today, I had my appointment. They applied bleach for 5 hours to my hair, and some areas still didn't lighten. While washing my hair, I saw my broken hair in the hands of two staff members, yet they didn't say anything. They mockingly said "Happy holidays" when they finished. Even the other customers saw my hair was falling out. This process was extremely damaging financially, emotionally, and psychologically. My hair has become completely unhealthy, and I will have to shave it tomorrow. The 10 days I spent dealing with this experience caused me serious trauma. I am also a business owner in the U.S. and have never had problems with my clients, as they are more important to me than money. If you cannot do your work properly in this country, please leave this business to those who can. I believe these individuals' licenses should be revoked.
