Since it was my inaugural visit, they supplied me with a hand towel and a large one. I wasn't sure why I needed that as I brought my yoga mat and water. I didn't realize the studio was heated. Duh!!! bikram hot yoga was just ending. The space was pretty big and dimly lit, creating quite an intimate atmosphere. The season featured Groovalicious music, putting all in a relaxed mood. Not to mention the candles the instructor lite ahead of starting the season. I didn't know what the heck I was doing but the poses were easy enough to pick up using blocks and supplied strap. Very similar to Kaiut yoga which is exactly what I was hoping for. More restorative, with most poses held longer allowing the focus on breathing and posture. I also understand why thy supplied a towel to cover your mat. While not stifling hot, it was very easy to work up a sweat. It was obvious after the session my body missed yoga practice in a studio with expert instruction. So of course I signed up to continue visiting at least 2 times a week.

Losing that version of…read moremyself has been one of the harder, quieter griefs of pregnancy, something I didn't expect to carry. The owner understood that immediately. She didn't just encourage me to keep showing up -- she met me exactly where I was, without making me feel like I needed to be okay with where I was. That's a rare gift. What sets this class apart is how genuinely individualized the instruction is. Every woman in that room had her own set of challenges, and every single one of us was seen and addressed specifically -- given real feedback, targeted exercises, actual solutions. Not generic modifications. Not a one-size-fits-all approach. Real care. The community is something special too. Being surrounded by other pregnant women who get it -- some who've been through it before, who related to my birth story, who showed up week after week -- that sense of being held in a room full of people who understand is worth more than I can put into words. This is 100% worth every penny. If you're pregnant and wondering whether to go -- go. Your body and your heart will thank you. I almost talked myself out of joining -- I already have a big gym membership and honestly wondered how much I could realistically do right now. I'm 6 months pregnant with a 10-month-old at home, and my body has been a whole situation: vein/nerve pain in my knee, hip pain, rib pain, shoulder and deltoid tension from breastfeeding. I was exhausted before I walked in the door. But Ashley's prenatal yoga class changed something for me, and I feel so much better!!!! I an learning a LOT. They have 4 locations and tons of workshops too. I took a class the other day where we literally just laid there and meditated and relaxed with our legs up and I had no idea how much I needed that.

In my fourth year my back hurt so bad I would take ibuprofen after work, tylenol p m to go to sleep, and Aleve if my bag hurt during the day. A friend of mine introduced me to Hot Yoga Republic and I was definitely skeptical at first. Does a construction worker even belong in yoga? The answer is YES! I took five classes in a row and and by the fifth class I was sold. Kathryn and the team are amazing, kind , inspiring, and supportive! 5 's I'll definitely keep coming back!

Unfortunately, it closed so I had to look elsewhere. Pro's: it's fairly close by, the heating and humidifying system is great, and the staff are very nice and seem to have their act together. It seems pretty clean, (but the locker room is meh). I like being able to purchase a 10-class pass that is good for a whole year. Con's: some of the classes are insanely jam packed. As in, other people's mats are a few inches from you in all directions. I understand they are trying to max out the capacity, but I will now only go to classes in the early morning because the other classes are so crowded. The other problem is parking. Many of the spaces are reserved for the other businesses in the strip mall and I'm afraid of getting towed. Moral of the story: show up EARLY for class in the afternoons, evenings and weekends to get a spot for your car and your mat! I will probably continue to practice here but I would not buy a monthly membership given the con's mentioned above.

Yoga always felt a little too slow for me without being challenging. That is definitely not the case with classes at NOW Power Yoga! The studio itself is a pretty big room that get heated for each class. I especially enjoy that each class is often powered by modern music with a heavy beat. The instructors are super positive and help set the mood. Depending on the class, there are some that will focus on weights versus holding moves. While I highly recommend, I would say for beginners to yoga who are not too familar with the moves may have a hard time following along. Recommend bringing a yoga mat, towel, and water bottle to class because you are guaranteed to sweat! You can also bring a refillable bottle as well since they have water stations. I also appreciate that they have a shower. Because it shares a parking lot with other businesses, I would caution that depending on the time of day parking can get difficult so may want to come early at peak times to ensure you get a spot in time. The same for the class itself! NOW Power Yoga is a worthy visit especially if you are looking for a heated yoga class!

I've also tried yoga a handful of times in a class setting, but again couldn't commit. Enter Dana. Working with her for the past month has been revelatory. Her gentle, expert yoga guidance has helped me begin to feel the embodiment that I'm confident leads to long-term healing. The benefits of 1:1 instruction are huge. Dana provides detailed feedback on the poses and has an wide base of knowledge that focuses on yoga, but also brings in elements of Pilates, PT, etc. I see Dana weekly for yoga instruction followed by massage. That combo is perfect. We work hard on the mat which makes the massage that much more healing and enjoyable. Both practices feel like they're contributing to my healing and a growing sense of groundedness and calm. Please go see Dana if you're struggling with pain, or are intimidated by big yoga classes. I feel so grateful to be learning this practice from her. She sees clients for massage and/or yoga, but I recommend you do them together if you can swing it. Thank you Dana!

Teacher Lauren Cohen is awesome - grounded, well balanced sequences, supportive and kind. There's lots of parking which makes in and out easy and stress free. The not-so-good: limited number of classes offered and teachers can be hit or miss. Estee Fletter was amazing and has sadly left the studio. A few vanilla flavored teachers (especially late afternoon) seem to just be going through the motions and seem only willing to engage with younger students (or male students...) Not as many offering as some of the other studios in Marin: one huge room that sometimes barely has 10-12 students and an outdoor deck that would be lovely for classes but sadly is seldom used. The whole space worked so well when it was YogaWorks and the space has so much potential if they'd only cut the large studio into two and offer moonlight or morning classes in the Sun deck. Instead, there's the one big studio that's mostly empty and only affords them to offer one or two classes in the morning and the afternoon. If there were more rooms and more offerings, I'd probably get an unlimited membership; but as it is now, it's just not worth it. In conclusion, it's great for a one off class now and then but doesn't (for me at least) offer a long term home for yoga.
