He's the nicest guy in the world. Dr Sones is the best. They are not all about money and he tells the truth about what you need(I had another dentist recommend all sorts of things but I was referred to Dr Sones to get a second opinion). I had a tooth that could have been a root canal and he did such a good job I didn't have to do it. The office staff are just as kind. Dr Sones demeanor is simply the best and puts you at ease. Dr Sones was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so grateful I took her advice and went and saw him. I've been seeing him for about a year and now my entire family sees him. He is so patient and kind and truly just wants the best for his patients. The hygienists are thorough and gentle. The assistants and front office staff are friendly and caring. Ok I just went again earlier today for what was supposed to be a final crown placement. Can you believe, he takes off the temp and is getting ready to place my permanent crown and it gets a crack in it. What's the first thing he does??? He tells me. That's right, he was so honest and understandable a bit surprised and frustrated. I was of course a little upset that I wasn't getting my crown finished but I'm just so impressed that his first reaction was to be totally honest and up front. I feel like maybe some dentists might have placed it and tried to patch it or fill it. (I hope I'm wrong) Anyway I just had to share. I have never met such an HONEST, SWEET natured dentist like Dr. Sones. After leaving my dentist in Ojai because they wanted to charge me $1000 for a cleaning (!!!) even though I've had healthy teeth my whole life, my good friend recommended Dr. Sones. His HONESTY and GUIDANCE to do what was BEST FOR ME was such a breath of fresh air. Dr. Sones and the dental hygienists here are 5 star, but I have to subtract a star for a snarky receptionist. I am not sure if it is just me, but often times she appears to be very condescending on the phone, and almost annoyed if your schedule does not accommodate theirs.For example, if they call to see if you can come in early, and you say no.....she gives the impression of being very inconvenienced. Often times she gives the impression that I am wasting her time by trying to find an appointment with them that can accommodate my schedule. She also gives the impression that I should know how their office is ran, and act accordingly. Which I find very odd for any professional office. This is just one of the receptionists though....there is another one that is extremely friendly and wonderful to deal with. I just happen to have the luck to always get the other one....bummer. I also have to subtract the star because it is impossible to schedule an appointment here. Appointments are at least 3 months out, and you can forget about calling the week before to get in. I will say they are very good about calling you if something opens up, but if you're looking for an office that can easily accommodate you based on your needs, forget it. With that said, Dr. Sones himself is WONDERFUL. Seriously nice guy and he does not push any unnecessary dental work on you. I went into his office after 10 years of dental neglect, and not a single negative thing was said to me. They did the work, and now my teeth are better than ever. He has several wonderful hygienists working for him, and I love Dory. She is simply the best. Super gentle, and friendly. These 2 reasons alone are why I continue to go to his office; in spite of the snarky receptionist and the impossible appointments. read more

After many bad experiences with dentists, I'm totally happy having had Dr. Sones recommended to me. He and his staff may silently be judging their patients, but if they are, I don't know it. He takes the time to answer all questions and does not push patients into financial recklessness by only informing them of the most expensive option. Dr. Sones goes far beyond of what I expect from my dentist. The color of two crowns, which came back from the lab, was slightly off. He scheduled another appointment for me, bringing in a lab technician, who 'baked' the crowns on site to insure the color matched my teeth. His attention to these details impressed me. In addition, he is very ethical dentist, who is looking out for his clients, not pushing unnecessary dental work. There should be more dentists like him.
