As far as dental office visits go, my recent visit went really well. Although I have been to Pittsburgh Oral Surgery for prior dental work this was my first visit to their Fort Couch Road office. Normally I go to their Monroeville, PA office, rescheduled my appointment because of work related scheduling problems. Arrived approx. 7:00 AM for an 8:30 AM appointment and was warmly greeted and made to feel "right at home." The person working in the office asked me to update my existing on-file information. I asked if there was a place in the building to get a cup of coffee, she promptly offered to make me a cup; it was very good and appreciated. After returning the paper work a short wait ensued and then a dental assistant escorted me back to the place where the procedure would take place. The room was exceptionally clean with a great view out of a large window; all of the furniture and equipment seemed up-to-date and in a good state of repair. Next, I met Dr. Eric Smiga; he greeted me with a great smile and positive demeanor. He explained the upcoming procedure, reviewed my paperwork and x-ray, examined my tooth, discussed the potential implant, injected some painkiller, made sure I was comfortable and said he would return after a few minutes. In the interim, another person came in to explain costs and insurance terms & conditions; a very transparent and upfront process -- no surprises. Shortly thereafter Dr. Smiga returned for the "main event." He gave me an "insurance" injection of painkiller and proceeded to remove the tooth. Before I knew it, the procedure was complete and the dental assistant was explaining post extraction procedures that should be followed. Someone in the office called my prescription (an antibiotic) into my local pharmacy and I was good to go. Before leaving the office, arranged for a 1-week follow-up appointment with Dr. Smiga at their Monroeville office to make sure everything was healing the way it should. Someone, don't remember whom, suggested taking an over the counter pain pill as a proactive defense against pain when the procedure painkiller wore off. No problem had some Tylenol in the car. After arriving at my car, took a pain pill from my backpack and glanced at my watch before heading off to work -- it was 8:20 AM. I was out of there before my appointment was scheduled to start. Follow-up; took one Extra Strength Tylenol three times 6-hours apart after the extraction and have remained pain free, no issues. Had my follow-up visit this morning -- no problems, everything looks good. I don't think anyone looks forward to going to the dentist, but from beginning to end, Pittsburgh Oral Surgery made this a very positive experience.

It is 2026. Everything is done digitally. I don't think dentiists even have the ability to print x-rays anymore. The dental assistant took a new x-ray. I had scheduled my appointment with Dr. Dalton, but unbeknownst to me, I got his resident instead. His resident came in and asked me what tooth number he was supposed to extract. He asked if he was supposed to take out my implant. I could not believe that an oral surgeon would look at an x-ray then not be able to discern which tooth to extract then hope that the patient knows! Mind you, the tooth also had a slight wiggle so it should've been clear based on the physical examination as well. I told him that my dentist had emailed my x-rays. He told me that their office loses everything. He next instructed me to reschedule my extraction and go to my dentist office, pick up the x-rays and have my dentist sign it before the next appointment so he knows which tooth to extract. No sir. I wouldn't bring my neighbor's cat here for such a confusing, outdated, unprofessional and upsetting experience that wasted my time as I had taken off work and kept me in a state of pain and infection.

The office staff is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and patient. They return calls quickly and are always able to answer questions clearly. They let you know exactly how much you will owe for a procedure well before the appointment. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the anesthesiologist. She explained everything and was very reassuring and friendly. Dr. Cillo is excellent and always takes a lot of time to address concerns. He also provides various options for treatment. This is an excellent practice and I highly recommend them.

Meanwhile the little white girl that did not have one had the same purple and white mask on that the receptionist had on?! hmmm then they told me they called to confirm my appoint and since no one answered they CANCELLED my appointment and won't see us I have not a single missed call from them in my call log BTW even showed her the phone. Traveled quite a way to be treated so poorly and turned back but it's UPPER ST CLAIR and we are black so nothing unusual in that part of town.

What brought us to Dr. Barroner was my 16-year-old- son's four impacted wisdom teeth. He had two 12-year molars that had not yet erupted due to these gargantuan-ass teeth sitting in their way. His Orthodontist, Dr. Troy, had recommended two surgeons, but I got the better vibe from Dr. Barroner's office. That may be due to the office Wonder Woman known as Rose. In fact, everyone in that office is friendly and professional. Because my son is diabetic, we had some extra prep to do. and we were well informed in advance of what needed to be done before, during, and after the visit. The surgery went smoothly - skilled, quality work done right. They even let us come back in to allay concerns about what we thought was extra bleeding (which was normal bleeding, I guess we were just nervous nellies!) She then followed up the next day to find out how he was and let us know we could call her anytime if we have any problems or questions. I'm so glad we chose to use Dr. Barroner for the wisdom tooth extraction. If you need an oral surgeon, and you go anywhere else, you're a total bonehead. I usually attach photos, but I don't know what I would put here. You probably don't want to look at his teeth, which we did get to take home. Thank you, Dr. Barroner and the rest of the staff at Elevated Oral & Implant Surgery!

I have never encountered a front desk person with the rudeness, overbearing, self righteous…read moreattitude as I did with LINDA this morning! My granddaughter was to have some teeth extracted this morning. Well, this is Monday 1-6-25 the day of our beautiful snow. My granddaughter has Broad Spectrum Autism, and her anxiety level goes thru the roof. Before she would get in the car I had to call the office and ask them if her retainer should fit after and how many teeth were going to be taken out. I had already explained that it is impossible to know, but wanted to hear from their office. She was right beside me in our kitchen...after I explained why I was calling before we left, I ask if she could please tell my granddaughter what she told me, I was trying to put the call on speaker so that I could hear what was being said... the call disconnected. (Number of extractions was wrong, said 3, was to be 5). Thinking I disconnected call somehow, we left for said appt. Today is our wonderful snow storm day with all of the snow advisories. We get maybe little less than a quarter mile away from home.. roads around our home and main road we need to travel on (RT 30-West), were covered in snow...I will be 79 in about 3 months. The Monroeville office is approx 40 miles away. Some cars were sliding, so I decided to call and reschedule, as weather called for continued snow pretty much rest of the day, and it made me very nervous! Linda was very nice at this time, seemed very understanding and said "no problem under the circumstances), and rescheduled appointment later this week, of which I was surprised being no waiting. We get home I have a voice mail, plus a text asking me to call them. I did so and Linda answered the phone... oh boy... she started. Said Dr. Ichner said we will not see your granddaughter any longer. Said she told Dr Ichner that there was a question regarding a retainer and number of extractions and cancelled today's appt. (It is now 3:46 and still snowing), mainly due to questions and we had to reschedule 2 appointments prior... one she had the flu, other she was called into work during Christmas break. I said we were disconnected from our call this morning, her response was "I disconnected the call being I did not hear anything". I told her I was putting her on speaker, of which she knew. Said she told Dr Ichner about the call and questions, his decision was to cancel the appt just made and that we had to "find another oral surgeon", also said referring Doctor has been "Made Aware". We were on our way, my granddaughter had done all prep requirements, however you cannot control the snow!! DID NOT CARE. She's beyond RUDE!! After reading the reviews before I wrote this, I am convinced we are so much better off not being involved with this office and practice!! GOOD LUCK. I have never left a negative review in my life..this is a first!! I do not file law suits, however, their response makes me question maybe how many there have been??

They instead put into the paperwork to pay themselves, cashed my check from my insurance they claimed to not accept, and allowed me to make multiple calls for MONTHS before they told me. I even called my insurance to see the issue and they assured me it was the dental office, and the paperwork they sent said to pay them. I'm now being told I won't get my money from the office until I get my tooth restored over 3 months from now, from a different dental provider. They said they do this "just in case" anything goes wrong with his work. I'll be able to come back and use the insurance money they claimed to not accept. Makes sense right ?? Greedy, lying, crooks who were now paid twice and won't release my funds to me. Never use an office like this. Imagine what else they do to make an extra buck.
