My gums were really inflamed for a couple of months I had just gotten my insurance from my work so I decided to look up a dentist nearby. I went to Thousand Oaks Smile design because they had good reviews. Dr. Elbert is great Dentist and he told me what needed to be done. They took my insurance with no problem the front staff are awesome and very polite, I ended up doing a deep clean of all my mouth. The Dental Highgentists are amazing and great at their work. Rachel Jackson did a clean up for me today and she is very sweet and caring of her patients. They had prescribed me a strong mouth wash that stained my teeth a bit. After today's clean up with Rachel my teeth look amazing nice and clean and the stains are out. Overall 10/10 read more

Dr. Elbert's office is always a great place to visit. I had an appointment scheduled during this pandemic and I didn't want to neglect my teeth. The office laid out all expectations ahead of time so I could review and prepare. I waited in my car until they were ready and I went straight back to the chair wearing my mask. Dr Elbert was a referral from a friend. I went to the office not knowing much. I was scheduled for a routine cleaning today. This was the most thoroughly visit I have had at a dentist ever. They took an extensive amount of X-rays that were pre-approved by my insurance prior to the visit. They found that I needed a deep cleaning. It was completed today. So gentle and very little pain. The entire office staff is friendly with smiles. I had my son treated today as well. My son had a cavity filled and he claimed it was simple. I recommend Dr Elbert to anyone looking for a dentist. read more

I had my first cleaning today and Roscio was my hygienist. She really took the time to explain what she was doing and made me feel so comfortable. Dr. Elbert and the whole staff is really helpful, informative, and they all make the experience as stress free as possible. The office is very clean and several patients tend to call into the office when they arrive instead of sitting in the lobby. I came in and was the only person in the waiting area, when I came out the lobby was still clear. Everyone in the office of course wears a masks like all of the patients, so I really wouldn't hesitate to come in. I'm learning the importance of oral health and I would certainly not let this pandemic get in the way of that. The dentist I had been seeing was not responding to my calls, and my jaw and tooth were beginning to throb. I called Dr. Elbert's office just to see when I could be seen, and they were minutes from closing. I was about to hang up, when Dr. Elbert got on the line with me, took my history, asked me if I could come in right away, and when I got there, I was treated royally. They took some xrays, and the doctor showed me the problem. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics, and his receptionist took it to the next door pharmacy. When I was ready to go, the prescription was ready for me. Dr. Elbert kept assuring me to call if I continued to have a problem, and gave me a referral to another dentist for a special xray. I am so grateful, and after this crisis is over, I will be back for the cleaning I need. read more

I am probably the biggest baby when it come to the dentist. I was scared to death today. But Dr. Elbert was AMAZING. Not only is he a people person who is calm and gentle. But he is thorough and was fabulous. I can't say enough. I was there 2 hours for a crown and 2 fillings. Me - who gets so nervous - actually fell asleep and snored. It all felt like 30 minutes to me, not 2 hours. He took over my old dentist's office and I am sold. I will never go anywhere else. I can't say enough great about him. Much to my shame I have never really used a dentist regularly, and honestly beyond cleanings, I never needed a dentist. I never had any cavities, braces, or anything of that nature. I would see a dentist once every 5 years (yah I know try not to be horrified by this fact). I brush and floss a lot on my own, use antibacterial mouth wash so I am not ignorant how to maintain good oral hygiene. However, there is still the issue of tartar, the development of gum disease etc. I would like to say that I have zero fear of dentists, and I feel great sympathy for those that do, because I can imagine how terrifying that must be. I mention this because Dr. Elbert and his staff went to great lengths to ensure I felt comfortable, at ease and not preached too. They explained everything in great detail as to what they wanted to perform and why. Dr. Elbert's office has a digital xray system which makes for far superior X-rays, and reduces the need for re-shoots that I remember having to endure as a kid. No disgusting, painful, giant pieces of film to cram into the back of your mouth. After a very complete examination Dr. Elbert said I had some mild gum disease, but not to the point that it couldn't be reversed with a very deep cleaning in the office and some additional work at home. I agreed and Dr. Elbert suggested that he numb my side of my mouth he wanted to work on. I agreed, and again he went into great detail about how he would perform this, what the drugs were, and what to expect. He was extremely gentle with his hands as he probed my mouth and injected the various compounds. Even before he did the injections he smeared a numbing agent on my gums to ensure that I would not feel anything, short of a slight pinch and some pressure. Let me say, that at my age (late 30s) that was a VERY bizarre experience, I have never, ever had that done to me. Once everything was good and numb the procedure began, and about every 5 minutes Dr. Elbert and his wonderful assistant would pause and ask how I was doing, if I needed anymore of the numbing agents (I did request one more injection), if I needed more of the suction to keep the back of my mouth clear etc. Very, very attentive to me. Now, I did not ask for all of this attention, like I said I have no fear of dentists, but I think it speaks to how sensitive Dr. Elbert and his staff are, and how they want to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. He even stated quite firmly to me that a patient's comfort is his primary concern. That session took over an hour and he and his assistant really had to be aggressive ( Sorry you had to deal with all of that Dr. Elbert). I came back in eight days later and the other half of my mouth was numbed, the deep cleaning was performed and I was sent home with instructions to carry on with the more aggressive cleanings at home. Dr. Elbert requested I come back in two weeks to examine my mouth again and see what kind of progress had been made. Over the next few days as my mouth healed up from the deep cleaning I noticed a significant difference with my mouth, when I brushed my teeth my mouth didn't feel irritated, and just overall the feel of my mouth was so much better. At my recheck Dr. Elbert was extremely pleased with my progress. A couple months later I awoke one morning and found that I had really bad pain in the back of my mouth on my jaw. I took a bunch of advil which did nothing and headed off to work. I called Dr. Elbert's office at 9:00am, told them the situation and they told me to come in around midday. I am pretty sure the office was not open and was shut down for the lunch hour, Dr. Elbert was alone, had me sit down and took a look, probed around a bit and said my wisdom tooth was infected and would need to come out. He wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and pain medication (thank god for both because I had a low grade fever by this time and advil was as useful and peeing on a forest fire). I was extremely impressed that he suggested I see an oral surgeon, and called a local oral surgeons office for me and set up an appointment for 2 days later for a consult and surgery. He didn't even charge me for seeing me that day. Nearly a year on, and I still love Dr. Elbert, and so does my wife. His entire staff deserve to be mentioned as well. They are extremely kind, and efficient. * Follow up 10/7/13 Continue to see Dr. Elbert and everything looks really fantastic. Still no cavities! I would also add that I am very disappointed that Yelp has filtered this review. I spent well over an hour writing this review to express my gratitude and what high regard I hold Dr. Elbert and his wonderful staff. I am a wordy person, and I do not write 2 sentence reviews, I give you all of the details and even the ones you do not want. I went to Dr. Daniel Elbert for a new crown. It took two fittings to get it done but I am extremely happy with the result - most people only need one visit. I guess it might be because I have tooth brace on. The crown looks so real and my orthodontist thought it is my natural tooth . Dr.Elbert is the best dentist I have met. I've always had a little phobia of going to the dentist, but this office made me feel EXTREMELY comfortable. First the staff is accommodating and nice and fun and funny. My nurse was knowledgeable and very informative of what she was doing, and I just had a great time with her. Dr. Elbert made my entire experience really cool. It took me a long time to get the courage to go back to the dentist after a bad experience I have had in the past. Let's face it, no body looks forward to going to the dentist. I was fortunate to get referred to Dr. Elbert, when I had a terrible toothache. His office is very friendly and not at all intimidating. It doesn't even smell like a dentist office, which is a huge plus. Dr. Elbert is very kind and attentive and upon meeting him I felt totally at ease. Not only did I feel absolutely no pain during my procedure, but I felt nothing after the numbing wore off. That has never happened to me before.
