Prior to visiting Dr. Subka for the first time, I had one dentist my entire life. I came to Dr. Subka to get her opinion on some fillings I had recently gotten and for a receding gum line. I was recommended by a friend to check out Dr. Subka and upon my first visit... I was so impressed by how nice, professional, and efficient the entire staff is. The technology & equipment here is so impressive and on a much higher level of accuracy from what I was used to. Dr. Subka is SO kind, intelligent, and really has this place running like a well oiled machine. I just went back for my second appointment a couple days ago. She replaced two fillings from my previous dentist and this is the BEST my teeth have felt in months. I'm just really thankful to have met Dr. Subka and everyone on the entire team. I booked a cleaning based on the complimentary new patient consultation and x-ray advertised on the website. After the appointment, I was billed $277, in addition to the cleaning, for a new patient exam and x-rays. When I contacted billing about the discrepancy, I was told the advertised offer only applies to patients with "something like a toothache," which is not stated anywhere in the ad. I was also told that because multiple x-rays were taken rather than a single x-ray, the promotion no longer applied. I asked whether these distinctions were documented anywhere in writing, and I was told they were not. During the exam, I was not informed that a set of x-rays would be taken that would void the advertised offer. When I questioned the charge afterward, I was told it was my responsibility as the patient to ask whether the promotion applied at the time the x-rays were taken, despite clear advertising with no disclosed exclusions. I was also told I was being aggressive for raising the question. Overall, the experience, particularly with the advertising and billing process, made me feel uncomfortable and taken advantage of. If you come here, get written confirmation of all costs and what any advertised promotions actually include before agreeing to treatment. EDIT IN REPLY TO THE BUSINESS: I want to clarify a few factual points in their response for accuracy. They state that "concerns regarding billing were first brought to our attention nearly two months after the appointment." This is incorrect. Billing concerns were raised on the day of the appointment and were reiterated again during my call with them on the day this review was posted, just under a month and a half since the appointment, a period that included Christmas and the holidays. Characterizing this as nearly two months later is inaccurate. They also state that the complimentary consultation and x-ray applies only to specific diagnostic visits and excludes comprehensive exams and a full set of x-rays. None of these limitations are disclosed on the website advertisement, nor were they explained to me in writing or in person prior to treatment. These distinctions were communicated only after billing was questioned. Additionally, their response states that all new patients are provided a comprehensive exam and a full set of x-rays. This directly conflicts with the website advertisement stating "New Patients: Complimentary Consult and X-Ray," without any clarification that this refers only to a single image or excludes the standard x-rays they state all new patients receive. The core issue remains the same. An advertised offer with no stated exclusions was used to book the appointment, and the terms that voided that offer were explained only after charges were incurred. The office is clean and comfortable, staff friendly and professional, and Dr. Subka knowledgeable, compassionate and gentle AND she takes photos of your teeth to show you as she explains what she's found on examination. Also she takes Delta Dental as well as other insurance and her office will submit claims to insurance for you while you pay the copay, which I appreciate! (My former dentist in Sherman Oaks stopped doing that, requiring patients to pay IN FULL UP FRONT and submit claims themselves.) In addition parking is free and plentiful here! I made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Subka to see if I would be a candidate for a minimally invasive gum surgery. Everyone in the office was very friendly and made me feel welcomed. Unfortunately, I was not a candidate for the surgery but Dr. Subka was great and patient with explaining the surgery and why she would not be able to perform it on me. I wasn't there that long but the consultation was free and everyone was really wonderful and professional at the office. Dr. Subka came highly recommended when I expressed that I had put off going to dentist because of dental anxiety. I have very sensitive teeth and no matter how clearly I articulate it a hygienist will stick that pokey thing right on the sensitive spots. I knew I needed cavities filled so I went. They were lovely. Communicating in text and email because I am in class teaching most of the business day. Very gentle, good listeners, and patient with my tension. My injection for my cavities was undetectable. After a while I was able to loosen up and let them work while I watched a movie in the chair! I was in the Ventura County area visiting my mother when I was experiencing some tooth pain and was told by another dentist I was going to need an implant. I went to Dr. Subka's office to get a second opinion, she did confirm that implant for sure will be needed at this point. From beginning to end the whole office was extremely professional and extremely polite. During the pandemic they followed all protocols and all safety measures which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, around this time my dog was in surgery and had to care for him and couldn't begin the procedure at that moment. I live in Orange County so when I was back home my tooth pain situation got worse and I ended up at another specialist. I was very thankful to Dr. Subka's office, if it wasn't for everything else I would of definitely gone with their office for treatment, just look at the reviews, they all highly speak of the doctor and the staff and they are right. I know if I am visiting my mother and need care I will for sure go to them. Thank you to everyone who sent me a welcome letter and sent well wishes for my dog, really appreciated that.
