Dr. Zaccariello truly saved my day. After an unexpected fall and two chipped teeth, I called Dr. Zaccariello in distress. He fit me in the next day and came in on his day off and bonded my two teeth. When my Manhattan dentist of nearly 25 years suddenly retired while I was in the midst of getting five implants I decided to stay with the practice. It was the most practical choice and my trusted dentist ensured me the new dentist, who bought the practice, was very well versed in basic dentistry as well as cosmetics and implants. I trusted that. I stuck it out and finished the implants against my better judgment. It did not go well. Fast forward when things began to go wrong... Dr. Richard Goodman came highly recommended years ago but he was in Staten Island of all places. I could not imagine going to another borough for dental work. I finally did when I wanted a new dentist I could trust and potentially stay with for the rest of my life. Dr. Goodman was warm, upbeat and made me feel extremely comfortable. On my first visit, which should have just been an initial exam/consultation, I asked him to replace one of my crowns which was causing me issues. He had a cancellation after my appointment so he was able to continue working on me. He explained everything he was going to do to put me at ease and was both gentle and smooth. I hardly knew he was in my mouth - he's like a DENTAL NINJA. After Dr. Goodman removed the old crown and cleaned the area he made a temporary crown that fit in like a Lego piece. He carved it right in front of me and It just snapped into place. I was shocked. It fit perfectly! I went back two weeks later for the permanent crown and the process was just as easy - no need for novocaine. I have since had a cleaning and am going later this week to be fitted for Invisalign to straighten some shifting teeth. Lastly, Dr. Goodman's prices are extremely affordable. The cost of my crown was 50% less than my former Manhattan dentist. I would have saved a bundle had I been going to Dr. Goodman over the years. Note: I took the express bus one stop from downtown Manhattan to Dr. Goodman's practice on Lambert's Lane in Staten Island. It was super easy to get to, the office is newly renovated, the walls are covered with beautiful, colorful photos taken by Dr. Goodman. He is a passionate and talented photographer. Great dentist. He is very gentle. I had a root canal done with zero pane, that made me very happy. Super team.

Avoid this office, very deceitful. I went in for a simple procedure - a crown fell out and needed to be put back in. There was a cracking sound, the doctor said let me see but then did not comment on what exactly had happened. I took out a pretty large piece from my mouth and handed it to him as a hint - still silence. Then I asked him directly - was that a piece of my tooth? He said yes. After he commented on bad quality of the crown done at another office and suggested replacing it, I asked whether it was a piece of the crown that fell out. He said yes again. So which was it - a piece of a tooth (same or neighboring) or the crown? Either way, there is a hole that I feel with my tongue, which I will now need to pay a lot of money to get fixed. As if that was not enough of a bad experience, the front office lady had the audacity to ask me to pay $100 out of pocket. After I had repeatedly asked her to let me know IN ADVANCE if there was any out of pocket charge. I told her my insurance is supposed to fully cover it. As it turned out, she had not even checked how much the insurance was covering, so the $100 charge was some randomly made up number to test how much more they could get out of me. REALLY? Shameful. Can't wait to see how much they are going to charge my insurance for the job done so badly. Will update this review when the charge comes through. read more

From the moment I stepped in the door, Dr. Goodman's staff was friendly and welcoming. They let me know what was gonna be done ahead of time and kept me in the loop of timing and future scheduling the entire time! While in the chair, it was great to chat with the Doctor as he informed me of what he could do that day, could being the buzz word. This was the best dental experience that I ever had. It was only a routine cleaning but was by far the most thorough. Dr. Goodman was professional, attentive and had an excellent chair side manner. He made me feel very comfortable. He asked me often if I felt any discomfort throughout the process. He had a very gentle approach unlike other dentists. I ended up finding Dr. Goodman through the yellow pages (anyone remember those?) because I had a bad tooth ache that required immediate attention. I went to get a general check up and teeth cleaning after a friend recommended him. This office is out of the way for me, but when my friend recommends someone I usually try them out. Making the appointment was fast and easy and the lady who answered the phone was really pleasant and didn't seemed rushed. I made my appointment for early in the day. This is words of wisdom, I work in the service industry and the last thing you want is a tired person who has been doing something all day to then service you (ditto for hair dressers, optometrists, doctors, golf instructors) ------Impressions (no pun intended) ------- -The office is nice and clean and has a "this guy has been doing this a while feel". Which I like. All my interactions with the staff were great. They did my X-Rays fast without jabbing up my gums with those bite down plastic things. - Dr. Goody (as he likes to be called) is very friendly and acted like he really cared. He did my teeth cleaning himself (something I've never experienced). It wasn't painful. I told him my previous experiences with getting my teeth cleaned and he informed me my teeth aren't supposed to be in pain from cleaning and added, "if you do it correctly that is." He went over my x-Rays and explained everything well. -This place is hands down way better than the cleaning mills I have experienced in Manhattan. Normally the dentist shoves his fingers in your mouth for 2 seconds and says something like "floss more...everything looks good" leaves, then the hygienist finishes and your out the door with a painful mouth from the previous women-like floss monster who seems to have been trained by Mengele. This could be a lengthy review, almost an essay simply because of the road I've been on to get to Dr Goodman's dental surgery. After a few years of avoidance of any dentist and my last visit was to an exceptional dentist in Ubud, Bali I found myself in an emergency situation: right rear molar filling fell off leaving a huge hole and a whole lot of weird sensations. I knew of a few dentists where I live (south Brooklyn) but ringing around and even visiting a surgery soon found it to be more about insurance and money and not care. Through a friend I was told of Dr Goodman and so I called and from that initial conversation (a lot of care, a lot of questions, and a just come in, I'll look at it and go from there. Made the treck on Saturday afternoon, last patient, and from the beginning it was a different experience. Met with Dr Goodman and he set me at ease. We talked, discussed, had the x-ray and exam (the exam was painless) and after much talking of the outcome I said yes to the filling. I can say I have never had a painless experience and when I say painless, I mean absolutely painless. The needle going in was as though nothing was happening, not even a lick sharp prick. He left the room while I waited for the numbness, this was repeated until he was absolutely sure I was numb. Dr Goodman explained every step of the way and constantly checked in to make sure I was good. Right down to the last of the work not a pain. The tooth had gone through some crazy times, several fillings (all botched and patched and growing larger by the filling) and now finally after years I have found my dentist. If I had Dr Goodman 20 years ago my teeth would have been in much better shape. I am not even getting into his staff here as they too were great. Do yourself a favour and seek out his expertise, the best dentist I could recommend and I'm not one to write reviews but in this case and especially with a dentist I see the value and the importance as most of us have had bad experiences. read more

I am not one to write online reviews but I had to after this experience because I feel I have to let others know about this amazing dentist. I don't trust doctors or dentists, and especially have a fear of dental work and Dr. Goodman somehow calmed my nerves as soon as he walked in the room. somehow I felt I could trust him and it turned out to be true. I had an old filling (from a different dentist 8 years ago) and I had to get a root canal - I was terrified. It all turned out to be fine and painless and I feel much better now after the work. I have had several dentists in my past and I've never encountered a more gentle conscientious dentist that Dr. Goodman. He is also extremely meticulous, precise and detail-oriented. You can tell he really cares about every patient and every treatment he performs, and the result is happy teeth and a confident smile from me. I am now working with him to finally straighten my teeth using invisalign, and so far the process has been easy and painless.
