My family has given this guy a chance to be a good doctor so many times and he's dropped the ball every single time. Back in 2023 when I took my elderly mother to see him... he greeted her from the doorway. Would not come into the room. Didn't examine her in any way and has continued to bill her every month for a back brace she never asked for nor did she receive. It's now August of 2026 and she's been deceased since March and they STILL bill her. Cut to 2025/2026, my husband gives him a shot as my husband has severe scoliosis and chronic pain and desperately needs help. Again the doctor rarely enters the room. You get his half attention from the doorway. Doesn't listen. Never ONCE... never ONE TIME has filled my husbands meds when he says he will. After his appointments we have to spend 1-5 days calling the office to remind him to fill it. They don't answer the phone so you have to leave a voicemail that they've NEVER returned. My husband needs a referral for an orthopedic surgeon and 3 times his office has referred my husband to a doctor that doesn't take his insurance. His referrals department doesn't even know how to refer anyone. He had my husband come to get a procedure done at 9:30am and Batlan didnt show up for it until nearly 4 pm!!!!!!!!! He is cold, doesn't care, doesn't listen, whole operation is messy and you'll be lucky to get a very very low dose pain killer for horrendous chronic pain and he won't even give you a months worth. We are out thousands and thousands of dollars for ZERO help. Complete waste of time. Please find someone else to treat your pain!!!! read more

I swent to batlan to get painrelief from 3 lu.bar fusions andine up pain management for an up comi.g cervical fusion. He was great the first visit, but after that he NEVER came in the room, merely poked his head in and said your refills are at the counter.... the longest I've seen him was 26 seconds. I've asked the office staff for longer appointments and I've asked doctor batlan, but never had an office last more than seconds discussing my case. Don't see him if your in pain. He forgot I had surgery, wasn't concerned about my pain, and thought 2, 5 mg percocets were enough after havi.g a fusion. All he said was do you want your refills or not.. My 98 year old godmother had been suffering with severe pain in both legs due to age related narrowing of her spine. After several CT scans and an MRI, her primary care doctor referred her to Dr. Batlan for pain management treatment as she is a fall risk and he didn't want to simply prescribe pain pills for her. After three neural block procedures her pain has lessened dramatically and she is now able to occasionally walk without the use of her walker; something I haven't seen her do in more than six years. She is very thankful that her pain is almost gone and her mobility has improved significantly from just a month ago. She was also able to get fitted for a brace to help keep her spine in alignment which has helped her as well. Our visits to Dr. Batlan's offices have been pleasant experiences. The office staff has always been friendly and very receptive to any questions or concerns. We never had to wait past our appointment time to be called in from the waiting room. Dr. Batlan has always been courteous and friendly to us. He is careful to explain the procedure and what you can expect. He doesn't sugar coat things and is realistic when it comes to letting you know how much relief you might get from this particular type of pain management treatment. In the case of my 98 year old godmother surgery was not an option because of her advanced age. This was the next best thing for her and she and I are very grateful for Dr. Batlan's services. She is not 100% pain free, but her quality of life has improved 100% since the treatments. I believe Dr Batlan is very qualified and is a great technical pain management specialist. He tries to really understand your issues and come up with solutions and recommendations for your pain management. There are no magic wands, so be realistic and you can get the help you need. The staff is nice. Due to the volume of patients you need to follow up with them but folks, it's your pain. His approach to pain injections is different and I have found them to be more pain relieving over a longer period of time. After my accident which left me with 3 bulging discs and bone spurs in my neck, I was referred to Dr. Batlan. I was in pain every day all day. He also had me re-sign his office paper work stating that I would accept prescriptions for OPIADS, even though I would not do so. He stood over me and had me scratch out that I would accept HIS type of prescribing. As of 2020 the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners will not touch this guy. No "slap on the hand" for forcing a patient to go against their beliefs. Suggestion: DO NOT GO TO SEE DR. I saw Dr. Batlan in November of 2022 and got episode shots for severe sciatica. The pain relief was great, but the fact that he was over an hour late to the surgery center both times and I was his first appointment, not so great. Fast forward to July 2023, the pain is back. Not his fault at all, it happens. I call his office to make an appointment and am told that because it's over 6 months I need a new referral. Inconvenient, but still, ok, that's his policy, so fine. I get the referral and am told he needs to review it before they can schedule. I'm a bit stumped because I've already been a patient, but still keeping my patience. Until today ... Its been a week since he's had my referral and so I call to check the status and hopefully make an appointment. After a brief hold I am given zero reasoning only that Dr Batlan has reviewed my referral and they will not be able to make me an appointment. I asked why and the only reason she was able to tell me was that the doctor said no. So now, I'm still in horrific pain (been to the ER 4 times and admitted for 5 days in the past month) and back to square one. I've been a patient of Dr. Batlan for going on a year and I HIGHLY recommend him. My wait time is never more than 5-10 minutes (with one exception), often less, whereas not a few pain management doctors I've been to have a wait time of up to two hours. A couple times I've waited longer. Ugh!! Another positive for me is I've never been "pawned off" to a PA, although I've met a some good ones over the years. I've always seen Dr. Batlan. I respect him and trust his judgment and his knowledge of my spine "challenges". Regarding medications, they are always prepared for me before I walk out the door rather than being written, then waiting up to 10 minutes for a signature. Dr. Batlan is a new doctor for me this year. I really only changed due to insurance. I have had a few issues with office staff not answering the phone and not getting information for prior authorization with my insurance company and a speedy manner, this Dr also does not seem to have a permanent office on the West side of town, but I am told that will change in May, thus the reason for the 3 star review. I did bring these issues to the attention of the physician and when he tried to call his own phone number and found they did not answer he wasn't too pleased! It seems he did rectify the issues because when I have called since then I have had someone pick up and also had someone return my calls if needed. I have to say I am very saddened and disturbed by how people like this can call themselves doctors. I have dealt with my pain for over 10 years now and I pretty much know what my issue is. I have seen this doctor a total of 3 times. Today was the last. I seriously went home a cried. My first visit with this doctor I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I thought maybe this one is different and read all the issues I had on the ppw I filled out. The reason I thought this was because he came in the room and went on and on about himself and asked nothing of me. he said he had some injections that he could do that my insurance company would cover with approval which should do the trick for me and that was it. He spoke very quickly and was out of the room within less then 5 mins. Second visit the doctor was way over booked. you could see that there was way too many patients for him to handle. I waited for a long while and finally one of his medical assistants came in and she wanted to know if I wanted to talk to the doc about whether or not I should received the injections without having an mri done yet. So of course I said yes. Next thing I know doc rushed in to stick me with needles and rambled quickly about having 60 patients to see within the next 2 hours. 3rd visit I waited for 1 hour before the doctor finally popped his head into the room and says I have way too much going on, follow me lets get you outta here and get your refills. I did try to voice my concerns to him being that this was my 3rd visit and none of my concerns or issues were addressed. With every syllable this doctor inched away from me as if he didn t care or have the time of day to truly treat me and my medical issues. I got all but 3 sentences in and he basically blew me off telling me he had too much going on. I now realize this doctor will diagnose you not by his medical opinion or medical experience. I mean how can he if he wont even examine you or listen to what your issues are (Remember I said I was dealing with my issue for 10 years I've been to many different docs in other states and I know exactly what is wrong with me) This doctor diagnoses you based on what you insurance company will cover. I got a procedure done from this doctor that I did not need and did not help my situation at all because that s all he could milk from them. I gave this doctor 3 visits. Most would have walked away from the 1st. That s what I get for giving this doctor the benefit of the doubt. I should ve never came back after this doctor told me he had 60 pain patients to see all in the span of 2 hours. that should have told me everything I needed to know about the quality of a human being this guy is. read more

I've had severe back pain for about 8 months now. My L4/L5 look like that of an Olympian gymnast. It's not good at all. I've had physical therapy, Advil day in and day out, floating therapy, muscle therapy, professional massages, chiropractor care, Hydrocodone just to fall asleep- nothing worked. I couldn't even sit for 20 min or do anything in the gym. I wasn't only in severe pain, I was feeling hopeless. Dr Batlan was referred to me to hopefully get ANY relief at all. It's the day after my epidural shot to my lumbar and I already feel 75% better. I can sit, I can stand and I'm no longer in severe pain. Absolutely miraculous. I've heard of complaints about the wait to see doctors, and although my waits have been considerably short, if you experience a wait, would you rather be seen immediately by a mediocre doctor? Or wait a bit to be seen by the best. Dr Batlan KNOWS exactly what he's doing and he explains everything. I'd wait hours if i had to. He's the absolute best and that's that. I have been in excruciating pain for many months ever since I picked up and carried my (very large) 4 year old. I've had 6 appointments in the last 2 months with Dr. Batlan. Each visit, he and his staff have been timely and professional. In addition to the initial consult, he has performed 3 sets of epidural injections, guided under fluoroscope and one set of SI joint injections. The procedures went smoothly without complication or pain. Additionally, the injections have proven helpful in reducing both local and radiating pain associated with sciatica and the SI joint itself. Having read extensively about both procedures, I wasn't expecting 100% pain relief, and I didn't get it; but I'd say the pain has been ameliorated by at least half. The goal was to stave off any possible use of pain medication, as well as the need for surgery; and we have thus far achieved the goal. How long the positive effects of the injections may last remains to be seen, but I have hope--which was lacking before the procedures. NOTE: If you are looking for a new, warm and fuzzy phone friend or pen pal in Dr. Batlan, you're not going to get it. He is professional but direct and unlikely to sugar-coat anything; and he is not predisposed to false modesty, having a high degree of self-confidence, which is the result of many years of experience in his craft. That said, he is professional, proficient, and pragmatic; and Dr. Batlan asks repeatedly whether or not you feel he, his staff, and the surgical-center staff (if needed) have been professional and kind. read more

I was suffering from very severe lower back pain off and on for several years. I tried a chiropractor but got no relief. I then went to a orthopedist who recommended I give pain management a shot and recommended Dr Batlan. Dr Batlan was very informative took time to explain everything and suggested facet injections. Extremely incompetent office staff! I wanted to change doctors because the office staff at my old pain management was horrible about working with my insurance. They would routinely not get things approved by waiting days or weeks to send in the approval request form. Leaving me to pay out of pocket for medicines and treatments. I was referred to this doctor. I called and spoke with the woman that answered the phone on the first day. I explained my medicines and condition. She said that before I could schedule an appointment the doctor had to look it over so I should call back the next day. So I did. Then I got told the same thing about calling back the next day. This went on for a week. Finally on day 7 they told me they would call me back in 2 to 3 days. I explained that because of the delay in the referral I had less than a week left on the medicine. So she puts me on hold, tells me that the doctor doesn't prescribe the pain medication that I'm on, and that they won't see me. They knew since the first day what I am taking. These people are morons. Why give someone the run around? They said this doctor only likes giving shots. Why not tell me that the first day? If they are this incompetent with scheduling a new patient I would fear the "care" that they give. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! read more

If I could give him a zero I would. Be very cautious about using this doctor. The procedure was ineffective and when the office verifies your insurance, they fail to notify you that the doctor used a surgery center outside of your insurance network. Needless to say I have lost a lot of sleep and had my life interrupted beyond the point of back pain when I was told I owed another $9000 because the facility he uses was out of network. On top of that I get another $500 bill from the doctor's office as well. I called and made payment arrangements and consistently made payments as agreed. I receive a call that the doctor wants more money, so I agree to double the payment and I send in on time as agreed. After the first payment is received, I get a call saying he now wants more money or he is sending me to collections. So what I have left in savings trying to survive I will be sending to pay this balance off and I will be following up with the medical and insurance boards to file a formal complaint. YOU WOULD BE BEST IF YOU USED ANOTHER DOCTOR WHO CARED MORE FOR THE PATIENT and honored the agreement made. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Batlan for 10 years. He has kept me comfortable and stable. We have tried shots and when they didn't seem to help we considered something else. I know I get personalized care from him and he keeps me informed of anything new to consider. This Doctor is not a pushover and will tell you EXACTLY how it is.
