    The burger menu. Decent selection.

Think I would continue with the 3-star theme. I had a burger & salad. The burger was surprisingly big but a little too thin. The burger toppings were larger them a regular burger joint. With the price of produce now I'da thought it would of been the other way around. I was a little off-put when the burger cook just assumed I'd want a Greek salad & added the salad dressing without asking what I wanted. The taste for the burger was the typical grilled taste which is always a good thing.

Look are deceiving it looks good but tastes like charcoal not smokey like you would expect from a "charbroiler" location.

Ordered the curly poutine got straight cut fries that tasted like they severely burnt the oil before cooking. Gravy and cheese was good but the fries ruined the dish. Managed to eat about a quarter of it before my stomach started to hurt. Only good thing about this restaurant is the USB charge cables at the tables.

Nothing but onions on this philly cheese steak sandwich. Where is the steak?!

Don't try this place. Total waste of money! Ordered two of the "best" burgers in town and received two burnt patties on dry buns. Ordered as well two philly cheese steak sandwiches and received buns loaded up with onions and just 2 or 3 pieces of meat strewn here and there and even just the meat tasted disgusting! Very disappointed and this was a place we were wanting to try for a very long time. Big thumbs down for this restaurant.

Amazing Greek salad and grilled chicken!!!

Their poutine was good as well- tasty fries smothered in gravy with bits of cheese throughout, again for $8.

Staff are always…read morefriendly and welcoming - but its the sandwiches that really keep me coming back every time I'm in Stratford. The newest location is right by the river - with lots of public parking across the street. Beautiful old building and a nicer overall decor than the previous spot. Still colourful - with cool drawings of their famous sandwiches on the walls. Lots on offer, but really, who am I kidding? "Mennonite sandwich, please" is what I said - and what you better say if you know what's good for ya. That delicious summer sausage, fresh corn relish with a subtle but delicious kick of spice. The cheddar - classic taste - nice slice - just how I like it. Definitely not processed cheese. The fresh country white bread - melt in your mouth but still with a crunchy brown crust. MMMMMMMMMennonites seem to have the secret of sandwich making down pat. This is the kind of sandwich that puts hair on your chest...What's that joke - why do Mennonite boys grow beards? Because they want to look just like their moms! Lol a bit off side maybe there - but my point is simple - a hearty, tasty sandwich - one of the best and most classic available in Ontario. Get out there and grab a few. The baking is also delicious!!

Fab! The best sandwiches in Stratford! At INCREDIBLE prices, too!!!…read more Check out the checklist-style takeout menu: http://www.yorkstreetkitchen.com/YSKSandwichmenu.pdf Most of my friends are huge fans of the Mennonite Sandwich. I enjoy the Othello (sans pesto, of course) but most often create-my-own. Last time I was there I had local goats cheese (swoon-inducing) on multigrain (OMG freshly-baked and so so so good) with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, lettuce, roasted sweet red peppers, honey mustard (made by local mennonites!) & mayo. I always add the "deli dills" - I'm pretty sure they're local mennonite too. Needless to say, PHENOMENAL. They also have THE MOST AMAZING 4-bean salad. Try it. Trust me. I don't even LIKE bean salad all that much... this one converted me. Really. GET IT. They lose a star because it's time to fix the service. It takes waaay too long to get your food, and that's true whether you eat in or order from the take-out window. Service is a bit better for breakfast, but still nothing to rave about. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your food. The kitchen & waitstaff are unfortunately more often than not visibly frazzled/stressed. I have been here for breakfast a bunch of times, as well as dinner once or twice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their jam - "moss berry" - never heard of it before or since! For dinner, I've had the Spinach, Marinated Mushroom, Red Onion and Goat Cheese Pizza ($6.50) as well as the Caramelized Broccoli, Red Onion and Ricotta Stuffed Pasta Shells baked in a our slow-cooked Tomato Sauce ($13.95). Both VERY yummy. Their breakfast burrito is legendary. I must recommend it as your first breakfast expedition at YSK. For meat-eaters, try the peameal bacon. LOCAL PORK FACTOIDS: A note on peameal bacon + Stratford: this is prime peameal bacon territory. If you don't make it to YSK, try to get to the Stratford Farmer's Market where you will find a chuckwagon of sorts vending DREAMY peameal bacon sandwiches. OMG. AMAZING. Perth County produces some of the best pork in the country. If you're passing through Shakespeare on the way to Stratford (or back - it's just east of Stratford), make a stop at "The Best Little Pork Shoppe", which is certainly NOT little. Check it out: http://www.porkshoppe.com/ Last interesting pork fact? The Annual Ontario Pork Congress happens in Stratford too. Just one more point in proof that Stratford is THE place to be eating pork. Which I don't, to clarify. I've been a veghead for 13 years now. But I have juicy childhood memories of Saturday mornings at the market with my Dad eating peameal bacon sandwiches with LOCAL bacon, LOCAL cheddar cheese, FRESHLY-CHURNED LOCAL butter on a FRESHLY-BAKED kaiser bun. FOR REAL. Back to TSK breakfast. I've also had the French Toast with local maple syrup and some sort of homemade apple-pie-filling-type side (INCREDIBLE) and the H.M.S. Pinafore Breakfast Sandwich (toasted bagel with that gorgeous local goat cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, onion & lettuce) is worth a try too! So basically, if you're looking for a unique, personality-filled, delicious place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, HEAD HERE!

No, I don't tip if there's no service. I don't tip if I'm standing when I order food. I don't tip someone for being a cashier. The food shows up 15 minutes later. Good coleslaw and good pickles. Below average mac and cheese. It seemed like the brisket was cooked in a slow cooker. The texture was way off, basically what you would expect from a slow cooker, and there was no smoke flavor. They asked me if I liked the meat and I asked them if it was smoked, which is how it's advertised. They said yes but really froze up when I asked them what kind of wood they use. I asked them again, they said they use a pellet smoker, and I laughed. This is the first I've ever heard of a bbq restaurant using a pellet smoker. That certainly explains the lack of smoke flavor. But I've used pellet smokers. They still have more smoke flavor and better texture than the brisket served here. Whatever they are doing, it's terrible. I'm guessing they used an oven or slow cooker. I'm also guessing the brisket wasn't particularly fresh because I started feeling sick within about an hour.
