I have several hookah reviews up. I wanted to start by saying the staff is great. Ahmed and Marco are both always friendly and make good hookah. The place is great for working during the day and also a great place to talk over hookah with friends. I'll draw the line at date night. I would not recommend having a date night here. Its more of a casual hole in the wall vibe were a lot of people know each other because they are usuals. I really like the place and spent a lot of time here in the past. I've moved on to another place at this point and I will tell you why. The one thing that lowered their marks was the temperature. In the winter its freezing and in the summer its very hot inside. And I am by no means exaggerating. A lot of their usuals including me have migrated to places that are more comfortable. The only thing we require is good temperature and good hookah. They have one down and I hope they invest in a good hvac in the near future. read more

Where do I begin?!... Atmosphere: No music, quiet...too quiet, decor doesn't match the apparent Arabic theme, and cleanliness isn't a priority. However, bathrooms were clean, the front area, not so much. Food/Drinks: Might as well hit up a restaurant before heading over since no food or appetizers are offered here. More like BYOF (bring your own food). Drinks...way over priced for no apparent reason. Poland Springs 16.9oz bottle for $2.50? Service: Either overbearing or completely distant. Having to ask to put music on or having to take care of our own hookah shouldn't be the customer's job. We can do that at our own home. Not once has anyone checked on us to see how we are or how things are. Lack of consideration of customers. Hookah: Not what is expected for $14. Thankfully I had my own wine to pull me through the time being here. Yes we did come during the day, but as a business owner, any experience should be the same throughout any time of the day for their customer. Basic business strategies. Where do I begin...I was a regular customer at this establishment. Why I stayed so loyal is beyond me. I was over contributing to this business when I was constantly mistreated. I've worked in the restaurant business for 7 years and the one thing you pride yourself on is customer service. If you want to smoke inconsistently made hookah, have dirty hookah equipment, constantly have to flag down a staff member for service, receive attitudes, listen to the same playlist that has been circling around for years, feel like if you move the wrong way, you'll be scolded at, and sometimes be overcharged-then this is the place to be. The staff is absolutely horrible-with the exception of a couple of employees, you have a majority of staff members that do not understand the concepts of customer service and they don't value the standpoint of the "customer is always right." They do not care about the establishment or their customers and it shows in their work. When upper management isn't around...it's a free for all. Then when management is around, they change their tune. Specifically speaking about staff member Abraham. I've personally seen him socializing with friends during business hours and completely ignoring the customers that are present. He is rude and condescending to say the least. Marco and Rami are the only staff members that genuinely care. They've recently done "renovations," but like they always say...if you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig. You want to know what the best part about breaking up with my boyfriend was?? Knowing that I'd never have to return to Dandash, his favorite hang out spot (during the 2 years we dated, it was always a mystery to me why it was, among other things of course, like why he could never pronounce the town of Woodbridge correctly). Anyways..I was orginally going to give Dandash one star but then I quickly remembered the staff there does put up with my ex as a regular patron. God bless them. Dandash is small and crowded. Often when we would come after a double date we couldn't get seated. We would instead go to this hookah bar in Old Bridge, formerly called Isis (they've since changed the name due to recent world events, however, I'm blanking at its new name, sorry). The replacement hookah bar had a nice selection of coffee and teas. In fact, the best Chai tea I've ever tasted, I highly recommend that hookah bar as a nice alternative to Dandash. I'd always lobby and petition for my bf and I to go to the other bar but alas we'd always end up at Dandash since it's much closer to our homes. The parking is scarce. We'd always have to park across the street at the side street. Not a huge problem, of course, but just annoying especially in winter months when there's a lot of ice. My main complaint about Dandash is not the hookah itself, but that it's an IGLOO! I always sat there shivering with my winter coat on for hours while my boyfriend smoked. The front door is constantly being opened and closed from people walking in/out since there's limited seating. I don't think they ever had their heat on. I would think after years of people complaining, they would try to resolve the heat issue but I really think they just don't care. My ex probably has been going to Dandash at least twice a week for the last few years. The last time I went with him they gave us refurbished coals and it tasted pretty burnt. I was surprised they still made us pay considering how often he frequents the place. Most of the time there is nothing wrong with the hookah, but it's not worth shivering your ass off. Couches have tears in them, the chairs are uncomfortable, everyone keeps their jackets on because it's cold inside (you'd think the many coals would help but alas), the guy you order with doesn't know what flavors are in the various hookah speciality mixes, the only iced tea they have is Nestea (do people still drink that?).... It's alright. Really low-key. This is the dive bar of hookah lounges. They leave you alone, so if you prefer that lack of constant attention, this is the place to go. Not sure about their prices. I don't get what I'm paying for, but it seems like a lot. It's weird. I got a hookah, and a couple of waters for $25. I feel like my hookah costs at least $20 every time. There is no food here, but you are required to order at least one drink. You can also BYOB, but you still have to order a drink, regardless. I would give this place an additional star if they put in some effort, but everything about this place is very basic. Also, sometimes they'll play really loud music, and sometimes they won't. Nice place but dishonest management and charges, so be aware. On their menu, it states "Prices does not include Tax & Service". Services are usually displayed as a seperate line item on the bill. This place ups the prices by 15% on each line item, so you don't know tip is essentially included. For example, menu says Red Bull is 4.00, when you get your bill it says $4.60. Because they add 15% service charge to the line item, instead of as a seperate charge. So you think you are just paying for your items and then you tip, but basically you are double tipping. When I noticed I was paying $40, instead of the $25-$30 I expected, I asked a manager about the bill. I told him his menu is false advertisement and he agreed. He immediately refunded me the additional tip that I left. As I was sitting at my table, writing my review, the manager came over asking me if I had any other questions. I think he knew I was writing a review. He suddenly offers to refund me the entire check. I told him that was not necessary and that we enjoyed ourselves entirely, before receiving that bill. He said they hadn't updated the menus, I even suggested putting stickers that show "+ 15% gratuity". He knew he was wrong. Nice place, but thieves. Imagine how much extra money they are getting off of people double-tipping. Very dishonest. read more

Once we gave our order we waited for 20 minutes and they did not bring our hookah out to our table and people who came after us got there hookah. So they redecorated the place recently and it looks nice but the thing they flop on is service still. I came to watch a basketball game today. I asked for coal in the start of a fourth quarter in an NBA playoff game full of advertisements and the owner named Marco would not get up to get me coal. I sat the entire quarter and told him I asked for coal twice and he just smiles like he doesn't get it. I paid my tab and left. I'm not exactly sure what the bad reviews are about. I've been coming here for 2 years and the place is always packed with regulars if the service is so bad do u think any of us would be returning. The owner (who is not Marco) by the way is great. Marco and rest of staff are wonderful. Hookah is amazing. This is the place you go if you just want to chill and relax and enjoy time with your friends watching a game, listening to some great music or just having a beer. Oh yeah it's byob beer and wine. Can't get better than that. I'm giving this a 3 star instead of 5 because yelp seems to be removing anything higher than a 2 star which is in my opinion wrong. Everyone should read all the 4 and 5 star reviews in the other reviews at the bottom of the page instead of the 4 disgruntled people below. I don't usually take time to write these reviews but I feel this may help others. I was extremely disappointed at my experience. Me & three others decided to go out to Dandash for a night cap after a double date. As soon as we walked In, we noticed we were the only "Colored" people in the establishment. A young man greeted us immediately, which was nice, and we asked for a table for four. He looked a little puzzled & id say about 5 seconds later an older gentleman (Employee) approached, asking to speak with us outside. I automatically felt it was due to race. He escorted us out & then proceeded to give such an excuse of smell of marijuana. I was extremely shocked. How can you smell something from a back room. NEITHER of us has ever smoked marijuana a day in our lives. Cigarettes, yes. His demeanor also made us uncomfortable as he tried to use slang things as if we didn't understand normal words. It's 2017, I've never been racially profiled in my life, until my encounter at this lounge. Would not recommend. Wish I could give 0 stars. read more
