I live in a coop building with many rules, limitations and restrictions when it comes to renovations. Because of those restrictions it is difficult to find good contractors to do smaller single room renovations. I was so lucky to find Claudio and Manny. We ran into some structural surprises and I made some last minutes design modifications. They were so gracious and patient about both changes. My bathroom looks great. My wife and I hired Erion and his team to gut-renovate the master bathroom in our Ridgewood…read moreapartment. We had bad experiences with previous contractors, and we were skeptical that any home improvement could be transacted without frustrations -- both with the person doing the work and the results. From the very beginning, Erion changed our expectations. I'll start with his professional manner: Erion responds to emails, responds to texts, and shows up when he says he's going to show up. There are no surprises or unnecessary risks. When we hired him, the first thing he did was work with our condo board to secure insurance. On the first day, he showed up on time and got straight to work laying masonite and hanging plastic so that the rest of our apartment wouldn't be impacted by the demolition and construction in our bathroom. He then proceeded to do the demolition in a single day, leaving everything clean (or as clean as can reasonably be expected) before he left at the end of the day. He and his team always cleaned before they left. The work and the attention to detail and quality are superlative. Our apartment had uneven floors, so Erion took an extra day to install a new subfloor with self-leveling concrete. At both the drywall and tiling stages, Erion (and Carlos, one of his team) produced expert work quietly and efficiently. They asked for our input wherever they needed it, but otherwise they just got on with things. It helps that Erion has strong aesthetic sensibilities and taste that match my wife's; we trusted his instincts and his standards completely. One other note: Erion doesn't do the thing where he tries to do all kinds of expert work himself. He hires electricians and plumbers (who are also great and highly skilled and personable), removing all possibility of anything but perfect results. When Erion was finished with the job my wife and I asked ourselves what else we could afford to remodel, because our bathroom is now so much nicer than the rest of our (still very nice!) apartment. My wife and I cannot recommend Erion and his team enough.

I paid Yosef Tatik of Forward Construction & Remodeling LLC $32,575.00 for a kitchen and bathroom…read morerenovation. He took the money and did nothing -- no demolition, no construction, not even a permit filed (confirmed by our co-op management). Then he went silent. I told him my 83-year-old mother's health was declining, documented by her own physician, and that she couldn't safely be displaced for a renovation. I asked for our money back. He agreed on the spot -- then never paid. Months of silence forced me to hire an attorney just to get a response. Through counsel, he has already admitted, that he owes us this refund. My mother is 83 years old and sick, and this money is needed for her medical care. Yosef Tatik has known that since May. He has let a frail, elderly woman wait for months on a refund he has admitted owing her. He took our money, did not perform any work, and has shown no urgency or decency about giving it back. Do not trust this contractor with your money or your family!

The team handled everything from design, demo, ordering, move out/in, and reconstruction very well.
