Great selection and found a item that was out of stock every where local. Great competitive price. Josh at Dance's had good communication and service. read more

Im a frequent flyer of Dance's, as we come here often for firearms, ammo, hunting and fishing gear, and of course lunch. For a family with large interest in the outdoors, this place meets all of our needs as we can always find what we're looking for, and then some! The staff is also always very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend stopping at the back counter to grab a BLT and fries before you leave. read more

I ordered a thirty inch crossbow string for my exo set crossbow. On friday five days later, still haven't received a refund.Immediately after ordering the crossbow string, it flashed in red.No longer in stock, I don't understand why they would even take people's money. If they don't have the product anyhow, I am out thirty two dollars. They couldn't find it and said that it was wasn't taken out of my bank account.Although my state employees, credit union showed different, I guess they can suck that thirty two dollars. And I would never see it, but I just wanted to let people know what kind of business. This is do what you will. Associate, that helped me said that the manager manager's name was Josh. But Josh didn't feel that he should speak to me about the matter. And he let one of the peons handle the situation failed attempt, lost money, just wanted to make sure people know what their invest in their time and money into. This was dance, sporting goods, outdoors, big flop. In my opinion, first impression is the lasting one for me. And this will be a lasting impression in the negative read more

Every time I go to dances I always find what I'm looking for, if not someone always helps me find what I'm looking for! Definitely had to give them a great review after I came in there Black Friday about purchasing a handgun for myself and Wade was incredibly patient, with me going all over the place about what I'm looking for in the next year to start my collection and SUPER knowledgeable! I came back in there the other day to look at some more I overlooked that he had shown me, I'm positive everyone else behind the counter is also knowledgeable as well but I definitely wanted to magnify the understanding and consideration for a woman who isn't sure what she wants! Ive always had anxiety about actually purchasing a handgun because of the stereotype gun-store staff treating people like "potential" customers. I definitely didn't get that feeling at all. One of the only places I can't wait to go back to spend my money! read more

I had a great experience here, especially compared to some very specific, not-great experiences at other places in the past. I will preface this by saying that I am a 5' 4.5" lady who dresses like a Stepford Wife so my experience is pretty unique to my circumstances. The lady who helped me was beyond helpful. I was trying to pick out a new firearm, but I need something tiny and very lightweight due to how I conceal carry. She opened case after case to show me all of the lightweight and small ones she could think of, recommended some adorable new CCW handbags they had gotten in. I really liked that there are a variety of different people working here because it is a very different experience for a short woman shopping for what she considers a comfortable firearm, when I am being helped by a similarly-sized lady, versus in the past when I have gone places and been talked down to by a gentleman twice my size who can't understand why something that he finds comfortable will not fit in my hand or my evening clutch... It gets exhausting having them ask my husband if he is going to teach me how to hold a gun, or if he is okay with me getting one, and this has been the first time I have actually been helped by someone who understands that I can be retired military AND an expert marksman AND a lady. They have pretty good sales here too. And apparently fried bologna sandwiches too. read more

I enjoy doing business with Marlon and his employees. They are attentative and friendly. Dances has a well-stocked inventory of firearms and accessories. I am not a polymer type firearms person and am more interested in wood and blued steel firearms from an earlier time. Though it is not practical, I wish it was easier to know what long guns were on the rack. Otherwise, all is good! read more

Went today for the 1st time and wasn't expecting much do to some of the reviews. I was completely shocked to find an absolutely awesome fishing store. I got there 45 minutes before they closed and had to power shop the fishing section just to get it all in. I don't think there is 1 bait that Zoom makes that they don't have. Allot of high end swimbaits, Megabass, Rico's, they got it. If the hunting and pew pew side is the same it's gem of a place, I'm going earlier next time so I can see the whole store. They ordered some baits for me that they didn't stock, great service. read more

I got some really great deals here on ammunition, a gun bag, and a few gun accessories. They also offer a military discount on select items (always a plus). I was mainly in the store for gun items, but they have a little something for every outdoorsman--even have a burger joint located inside!! Lol If you're ever in the area, I'd recommend this store. read more

This is a wonderful place and a good spot for Hunting and Fishing equipment. I actually stopped in this particular day just to get a friend Bologna sandwich at the lunch counter they have. Tremendous Food and Great Service!! read more

I'm not a sportsman, but went there to pick up an item for a colleague that he could only find at Dance's. He lives in Virginia Beach, so out of the whole Hampton Roads area, he could only find it at Dance's, which is 90 miles away! To maximize my time and long drive (Richmond was a pit stop from NC to NJ), I was meeting a friend at the nearby Denny's to kill time until they opened at 10 on a Saturday. Dance's didn't look like much from the outside, I gotta say, but by the time I walked out of Denny's at 10:15-ish, the Dance's parking lot was PACKED. They seem to have everything a sportsman could possibly be looking for! If you happen to just be picking something up like I did, don't wait in the front register line! Ask another associate, who will probably grab your item from the back. My item was blasting caps for a Scouting event, so maybe that's a little different than picking up fishing lures or something less explosive lol. But that's how it worked in my situation. VERY impressed. read more

staff loudly curse about everything they are speaking on and sexually harass the young ladies that work there, regardless if you have your young daughter or not they don't care to be professional. Bought several firearms from them and the "new" ruger 10/22 takedown looked like they had been using it before sale. dirty scratched and rusty. will never buy a gun from dances again read more

My husband says , "I love Dance's!" Need I say more . If you are a Sportsman of any kind they have what you need . They also have a snack bar where you can get breakfast or lunch . Their hamburgers are some of the best !!! Dance's has a Pawn shop, it's towards the back . This is a family owned business that started in a small building that was connected to their mothers Dance Studio in Petersburg. They have a great reporr with the people in the community. The 2 brothers still work here throughout the week . The staff is unique . They are all avid sportsmen so the knowledge is top notch at Dance's. They know and have used the products they sell . I encourage you to hunt them out and shop local . read more

Folks treated me right. They got the stuff! Good selection of pew pew and lets face it, the world is getting worse.

Visiting my son in Dinwiddie, he had been telling me about a sporting goods shop he wanted to take me to, so we finally made it a point to go. Located in a strip mall, Dance's is unassuming from the outside, but they pack a lot into an overall surprisingly large space. My son was there to ask them to help replace a trigger on his AR-15, which they did free of charge. I walked around and looked at their offerings but kept being drawn to the handgun counter. Something unusual happened in this Petersburg gun store that evades gun stores in the NoVA area; the workers wanted to help me, and they were friendly while doing it. I was obviously not the only one who noticed this because this area was very well staffed and, even then, still had a patron per staff member most of the time I was there. I was interested in a subcompact for concealed carry and was able to hold all of the brands that I had researched. I finally settled on the one that felt best in my grip after asking to hold about 10 pistols.. I asked if they had a used one, and luckily, they did. A barely used model that knocked the price way down. Purchasing was very easy, and the background checks were rapid. I would not hesitate to return here for any firearm purchases, and for me, it is worth the drive to receive the type of service we did. read more

I had to order products out of state from Dance's. Great Service - Fair Prices - Timely Shipping.

If your into the outdoors, this is your place. I'm in Frederick Md and it's well worth the drive. No where near as large as the chains, but still very sizable and much better service and expertise. I'll be going back. read more

Great sporting goods store. They have a large selection of firearms in stock, as well as suppressors and a Silencer Shop kiosk. Excellent and fair priced FFL for transfers, including NFA items. Large selection of hunting and fishing equipment as well read more

I purchased from Dance's Sporting Goods on 4 separate occasions for ammo. Their prices are the cheapest I have found for 9mm and 45 acp, between $.48 -.55 per round which includes a reasonable flat shipping rate of $9.99. They do not charge sales tax on any purchases in WA state. Shipping is quick, around 7-10 days. read more

They'll take your money for something on a hard to find item, only to then cancel it while you lost the opportunity to buy it from someone else. Buyer beware, very shady business practices. read more

1 Lonely Star... Store has a decent selection, but unfortunately the Gun Counter's Service is atrocious. Most Gun Store counters are plagued with that one "God Complex Gun Guru" seeming to only be there to sell you the idea that they know everything. Customer Service even over the phone is Horrible... even calling to check on the status of an FFL transfer seems to be frowned upon. I own many firearms and I have never experienced a more unprofessional Gun Counter. 1 star never shopping there again. read more

Very friendly staff and a lot to look at. Recommend highly! Also their gun safely class is one to attend.

Decent prices on ammo and guns. But the service isn't great, rude people behind the gun counter. If your not a regular who is recognized you'll have to fight for help. I'd rather pay a extra 2% somewhere else and get unbiased service. read more

I have been shopping at Dance's since the 80's...and even before when they had just a little shop with mostly fishing tackle. I bought my first pistol at their Walnut Hill location in 1994. They have always been great folks and always had everything you needed and then some. I am most impressed by their customer service. Just a few days ago (June 2021) I had an issue with a pistol I purchased. Seems it came with a 14 round magazine. So when I went to pick it up from my Maryland dealer the magazines had been confiscated by the dealer. I asked him if he could just trade me for a legal magazne and of course he said no. So I called Dance's and it took a few emails but they sent a return shipping label to Maryland dealer and when they received the 14 rd magazines back, they mailed me two 10 rounder and it was all solved. In these days we live in, it is rare to ACTUALLY recieve GREAT customer service. It is a great place, with great people, inventory, prices and ownership!!! I will NEVER shop anywhere else for my sporting needs! And the fact that it is a hometown business is all the better!!! Maestro!!! Maryland resident but PETERSBURG BORN AND BRED!!! read more

Super fair price, fast shipping, great email notifications...

This place tries to rip you off when it comes to selling your firearms. They offered me $600 for a like new 2017 Browning BAR with Nikon scope. When to Green Top and got $850 for it. I do like the fact that they are a small business but they can do better. read more

Mathews archery customer service referred me here, stating they are a gold status dealer and the best in the fort lee area. They did warranty work on my bow, limb replacements with 6 days (including weekend and parts to come in) down time. On top of that they returned the bow to factory specs, tuned it and assisted me in sighting it in at 20 yards (along with some knowledge and tips/pointers). I'm more than happy with my bow and the service received. Clearly they did an excellent job, as it feels like a brand new and totally different bow. read more

I stopped in to make a new purchase of an item that I wasn't very knowledgeable about. There were several employees that offered help and guided me in the process. Their selection was vast and plentiful, and the prices were very comparable to other stores. But they were all friendly, which I later discovered was a family-owned business. Enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend them! read more

After going to unmentioned gun stores on midlothian turnpike (not the gun range) and realized that the prices I was paying for ammo were crazy ie wolf 9mm ammo 30 dollars 50 rounds fmj hmm. Anyway I went to dances, customer service was great, ammo selection was excellent. After my experience dances will continue to get all the buisness I can give to them! Keep up the good work. KEEP THE 2ND AMENDMENT ALIVE AND WELL. read more

I purchased a new rifle online from Dance's after vetting several other sellers hoping that I picked a good one. I did! Communications were prompt as was the delivery to my out-of-state FFL. I love my new rifle and I got it at the best price anywhere I've looked. Thank you, Dance's! read more

I'll give them three stars. I've been here several times over the years. Their hit or miss on service. More or less not always friendly and willing to work with everyone. I'd prefer to give them my business over the larger chains. Stopped by today and grabbed a few last minute gifts. Handled my business and was off. Self-serviced. read more

Dances Sporting Goods has proven to be a solid sporting goods vendor to the local area of colonial heights. The staff is courteous and helpful and that is a lot to ask for in this day and age with the labor shortage. Their lunch menu is priced as more than reasonable. I suspect its to draw in customers, it worked on me, besides I am a sucker for revolvers. I am certain that there is a ton of effort behind the scenes to keep that store thriving. read more

Yesterday, my spouse and I went there to buy a firearm for each of us. The folks there were cordial and friendly, busy and business like. And we arrived right after they opened. The thing I noticed was the parking lot and store was packed. We dropped a nice chunk of change there and everybody was friendly and all. But, the thing that hit us loud and clean was that they weren't following the COVID-19 guidelines at all! People at the gun counter were shoulder to shoulder, in the check out line too! Clearly, they were more interested in getting cash into the register than their customers health and safety. read more

Very rude staff. Not friendly at all. Talks down to you. Will try to rip you off. Would not recommend

I love this place, I've been going here for all kinds of gear now for a few years and I've never had any let downs. The costumer service is great you go in there enough and they'll temper you and help point you out to some of the new things that fits your fishing style. Very Rude staff, They will treat you like you know nothing about any gear you are looking at but at the same time can't answer simple questions that the average person should know but they don't. Their knowledge of the guns they sell is not there. Everything is over priced, they ask the same for their used guns as most places ask for new guns.
