I was slightly nervous to go here just because of a couple negative reviews I read on here about bad customer service. They are from a few years earlier and I am almost always willing to give a business a shot as some yelpers are a little dramatic in their reviews. To start- I called earlier in the day to inquire about ballet flats for my daughter to see if they even had what I needed. This is her first dance experience and I wanted to make sure she had proper shoes to go along with. The woman on the phone was very nice and very informative. She also gave me a couple pricing options to fit either budget I might have a had and that was appreciated as not everyone has the same budget for these things. On the other hand I was very much open to spending more if necessary on this trip because I know that having the proper shoes is beyond necessary in any sport. When we arrived we were greeted by both employees working and they even joked with us about the "great weather" we were having (it was a downpour). I told the woman what we were there for and she personally helped my daughter put on her shoes and explained which shoe would be best for her foot. We spent around $20 for her ballet flats and my daughter just loved them. I am confused by others that are upset about their pricing as this is a boutique/specialty store and expecting to find the same pricing as Walmart or online. What you will find is a plethora of quality products that are made to last as well as being a brick-and-mortar location that is able to personally help you find what you are looking for and you have it in your hand that day. They have knowledge to share about their products and what is best for a dancer. We will come back in the future to get a few more leotards for my daughter. Good shop has almost anything you might need for yourself or child who dances or does cheer. My wife has sent me in to pick up some things for our daughter, I'm usually completely clueless but the women who works there is always helpful. read more

So I can easily see how/why some would say the service attendees are not the most polite. When I walked in they asked, Them: How can we help you? Me: I'm looking for some ballet clothing for my daughter. Them: Ooooook. Ummmmm can you be more specific? I'm a father shopping for my 4 year old daughter. I'm not sure what the proper names are for these items. I explained to them what I was looking for and they assisted me. When I first walked in, I felt like I interrupted them. It was empty and here comes this guy asking us to work. But once we got past that, they were very helpful and very friendly. I was in and out within 10 mins and they had everything we needed! Last time I was in the fall, an employee didn't appreciate my 2 year old checking out the inventory even though I was watching her very closely while my older daughter shopped. Last week, I went in again knowing the same lady was working and felt like a nervous nelly because I again had my younger daughter, which I realize is really ridiculous way to feel in a kid store. Walking in I was ignored, and then felt like the one employee was talking about me to the other employee. My intuition was proven correct when I looked at her and she abruptly stops talking-very telling. Then as my older daughter was trying on multiple things she needed, my toddler had to go to the bathroom. When I asked if she could use their washroom, I was told they don't have a public washroom. At this point I have had enough and we all left, leaving behind over a $100 purchase. Very unfortunate because I would rather support local shops, but I also won't support being treated like this. read more

Had a great experience here on Saturday, July 28th. Both Jan and Christina were very helpful to me and my teen. They had a great selection of jazz shoes we were looking for, many sizes and options. Jan helped us with both her great customer service and expertise on the fit of jazz shoes and what would work best for us. She was patient while we made our decision. Christina helped my teen with toe protectors for blisters. They were both very friendly and knowledgeable, I would highly recommend this dancewear shop! read more

Was in a hurry to buy some dance shoes for my sister because the store closes at 8pm and it was about 7:56 when I got there and the lady wouldn't let me in because the registers were already shut down. The Open sign and lights were still on but the doors were locked? The lady working there also seemed in a hurry to leave. Great customer service, the 2 ladies there spent almost 2 hours trying pointe shoes for my daughter. They kept asking her questions, getting and providing feedback and offered to try as many types of shoes as possible. My daughter loves going to this place to buy her dance apparel, it is a long drive but the customer service is worth it! Highly recommended! read more

I should have read the reviews about customer service. AFTER I bought tights shes casually mentioned their return policy is store credit. Unless its tights. They are not returnable. Hello that's what I bought. She knew it was my first time there. Wouldnt that have been nice to know before I purchased them. I told her I wanted to check with the teacher to make sure they were the right ones Well either they are right or I'm out the money I dont recommend the place at all. I wanted to write a review here, because my experience was excellent at the store, and I also saw some reviews that were less than stellar here. I went in to buy some ballet stuff for my granddaughter, and I'm pretty clueless when it comes to ballet. But the two folks that worked in the store were absolutely helpful to me, and I saw him with other customers that were in the store and they seemed to be professional and helpful with them as well. They have a large selection of dance apparel and merchandise in the store, and from what I could tell they were very reasonably priced, comparable to Amazon who I almost ordered from before I went there in person. I have always gone to Dance N Tees for all of my dance needs. The stores associates were very kind and welcoming, patient, and ready to assist me. The store was bright and airy with ample supplies and stock. They are stocked with many things that dancers need. I went to purchase pointe shoes there because my other pair was dead, and the store associate was helpful and gave me the shoes I needed. The hand made merchandise there is cute and well made. Overall, I greatly enjoy coming to Dance N Tees for everything I need to dance. I would highly suggest supporting this local business! read more

I'm sure they are nice ladies, but totally incompetent when it comes to running a business. Have been there 3 times and terrible, terrible clueless service. I wonder how they stay in business. My wife typically calls and holds an item for my daughter's dance needs and I go to pick it up, usually same day or no later than the next day. 3 different times I've gone (every time the store is practically empty) and each and every time was a total cluster** getting them to find where the item was. They have stacks of items with sticky pads on them all over the place. First time I was literally there 20 minutes before they found the item; second time it was a good 15 minutes, and the last time they couldn't find the item at all. Most annoying of all, each time the ladies there acted like we were the ones with the problem. I could pay a college kid to arrange a process so they could inventory and hold items, but they don't seem at all interested in making the shop better and appeared quite oblivious to how poorly they treat their customers. I told my wife to find another dance store and she agreed 100%. read more

I frequent the location on route 59 and not once have I had a bad experience. I enjoy the full shopping experience of looking, trying on and even asking the ladies for the expertise on product knowledge. This was my first experience in the store with my new ballerina. We were met with tremendous kindness and patience as we explored apparel for my not yet 2 year old. Her twin brother enjoyed the other sales associate who laughed and played with him joyfully to ease his boredom. They shared their expertise about proper apparel and sizes and enhanced the entire experience for all of us. Both sales associates were kid-friendly and engaging with true gifts in ages and stages of development. The store merchandise is of excellent quality and the pricing is absolutely suitable for the quality. Definitely a find! read more

I'm so surprised by all these negative reviews on here. Granted they're few years old. However, we have been their customers for over 4 years now and never have we ever been met with nothing less than a prefect customer service. Ladies there are extremely nice and knowledgeable. We never ran into a low stock issue except for one time around recital season when everyone and their mother were shopping there and they had to order tights for me. It took two days, they called me first thing after they opened to tell me they have arrived. Really really happy with this store. Yes, some items may be pricey but this is a specialty store. There isn't another one close by. You can come in and try things on. You can't do that shopping online. Especially when dance or gymnastics clothing has to fit perfectly. This is a great store. This store has the most poor customer service I have seen in a long time. It is the only dance and gymnastics supply store I know of in the vicinity, which is why I keep going back. Each time I have been in the store, I have never been greeted by any employee. Once I was in the store for 30 min or more with my daughter trying on all kinds of leotards and no one ever spoke to me. Went in for a specific pair of jazz shoes and they had them but not in the half size we needed and immediately the lady was on the phone with her sister store locating a pair :). We also picked up some booty shorts for Modern Class and couldn't have asked for a better selection. read more

After shopping for 30 minutes with several items in my hand to purchase, I asked if my 8 yr. old could use the restroom. I was told I could drive down the street to McDonalds and use theirs. I have been here several times over the past five years and The service here is very hit or miss. One lady is very kind and helpful. She was not working last night and the people who were staffing the store were incredibly rude and unhelpful. The selection of items is also rather limited and expensive (having compared prices online). I was apprehensive based on reviews I had read online, but with recital and summer intensive coming up I gave them a try. I am so glad I did! The sales staff was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and mature. There was a little wait because we visited on a weekend and they were very busy, but they were hustling and had everything we needed. The store is clean and well stocked. Prices are good, and they have a frequent shopper card which I will be using. Glad I tried them! read more

My daughter has had pointe shoes for 3 years before we moved to Naperville. They noticed an issue her teacher had never mentioned, and they corrected it. One star is a stretch. Went into store on Saturday, November 2 to purchase practice gear (leotards, shorts, etc) for my daughter for gymnastics. Asked the clerk if she could take my daughters measurements so we could order her school gymnastics leotard. The clerk told me they don't do measurements. How hard would it have been to take my daughter's measurements and write them down for me? I will not spend a dime in this store, EVER!!! read more

A very disappointing trip to this store. We have visited this store a few times in the past. Unfortunately they are the only store in the area selling gymnastics leotards. We were in need, so we made another trip to Dancing Tees. Our shopping trip started with two unfriendly workers standing and chatting at the front desk. There were no other customers in the store. The leotards were in a new location since our last trip, so I asked where they were. I got a crabby look and an uninterested finger pointing to a back wall. Neither employee offered to help. I kept going in and out of the fitting room to try new leotards and sizes. Still no help while the women stood and talked. We would have liked some help. It did not take long to run through their lousy and limited selection of merchandise. Enter a small girl and her parents looking for dance shoes. Both ladies ran over to help the girl find shoes. Still no help for us looking at leos. As we left the store, empty handed.... Neither unfriendly worker even looked up to see if we were buying anything. Rude. We will never go back. I will be sure to tell every gymnast I know not to bother wasting their time at Dancing Tees. read more

I was in Dance N Tees for the first time August 20 2016. I purchased over $100 dollars worth of dance clothing for my two granddaughters who were in town from Iowa. We came home and tried on the leotards and needed a bigger size for my older granddaughter. Unfortunately, my husband had cut the tags off and thrown them away. I had the receipt, so August 23, less then three days later I went into the store to return it. You seriously would have thought I was trying to take the cash register and run out of the store with it. They were rude and kept saying I needed the tags to return the leotard and how were they suppose to sell the returned one without a tag. REALLY? ummm create a new tag? No where on their receipt does it state that tags must be present or affixed for a return. They did exchange it but not without informing me somewhat rudely that they would never do it again. No problems I will not be returning to this store. read more

We have found an online store http://www.allaboutdance.com or thats sells all brands & types of dancewear much,much cheaper at 20%-50% less than Dance & Tees in-store. Worth the order online depending on location its fast & relialble; its no tax,free shipping & returns too. We did price check & compare with Dance & Tees stores markup their store prices at ridiculous % as much as 30-40% more. we were shocked!! what a rip-off store. understandable if its a little markup for shipping & admins. but they purchase from dance warehouses at "cost in bulk" with less shipping anyway-why is their markup so ridiculously high?! example: I found my daughters Bloch Jazz shoes (same style & all) for only 29.95.(no extra charges or any fees) while Dance & Tees was selling this same Jazz shoe for 42.90 (40+tax) in IL store....do the math!! In this economy we are trying to give our children best of everything; but I do not appreciate stores like these taking advantage of our needs. Dance & Tees leotards wear too are markup at 30-40% much more than online stores. Dance & Tees stores I suppose are good when last minute availability is needed! But if anyone have time about 1 week or so, do plan ahead & purchase from online dance wear stores.....does save you money in the long term. read more
