I'm fortunate to be referred to Dana by one of my coworkers. I suffered from adult acne for about 5 years. I was recommend to Dana by my dear friend Angela L. I always asked my friend what was the secret to her beautiful skin and she has always credited Dana for taking care of it for her! I kept putting off going to see Dana cause 1) It's short of far for me from San Gabriel, 2) I didn't really see the need for it... UNTIL the last 3 months I literally had the worst, WORST breakouts of my life. I was always blessed with pimple-less skin throughout my teenage years, but then my hormones decided to go cray cray after I graduated from college and went off to the "real world". So, I was working at my real, adult job looking like a little teenage girl plagued by pepperoni face. Doesn't help that I also have a super baby face, so people at work thought I was just an intern lmao. Then, I finally decided to go see Dana to do something about my horrendous skin. My skin type is normal but a little bit on the oilier side (not super oily tho, but gets shiny throughout the day). Dana recommended me to get the silk peel, acne facial, and blue light therapy package. Got a pretty good deal for a package of 5 facials since there was a promotion going on and Dana threw in the blue light therapy for free. (yay~ the Asian in me is fulfilled) BUT MIND YOU, her treatments are on the pricey side so, if you want to treat yo self, definitely save up and spend your $$$ here - it's worth. Dana's technique for facials are impeccable. Yes, her extractions hurt - but no pain, no gain & beauty is pain :) Although I look like I got beaten up by a bat after her facials, my skin usually calms down after 2 nights of good sleep. Then, my skin just starts to scab and within a week the scabs all fell off and I have fresh skin! I do have some scarring (hyper-pigmentation usually) from the extractions, but my skin does scar easily and the scarring from her extractions are WAYY BETTER than the usual scarring I will get from just leaving the god-awful pimple alone. She also recommended me to purchase the glycolic acid serum she carries. (30 mL for ~$40) Didn't have much expectations nor high hopes but god damn, this thing is strong. It's 20% glycolic so way stronger than anything you buy at Sephora especially the Drunk Elephant glycolic serum. However, it surprisingly doesn't dry out my skin (but my friend's skin was peeling raw so I think it really depends...) I also think the glycolic acid helped lessened my old acne scars/hyper-pigmentation and resurface healthy, smoother skin. Dana also puts this glycolic acid on your face towards the end of the facial after the extraction, and yes it feels like your are being burned alive but it works great :) read more

Dana is very detailed and you can tell by her hand movements and procedures, she is professional and experienced. I have mild acne and have been getting more around my chin and came to her from the amazing before and after photos. I got the acne silk peel package, which included these steps (she explained the first time but i forgot the specific description): microdermabrasion (tool with rough tip to exfoliate and smoothen your skin), extraction (if you had extractions before, its not comfortable but refreshing when finished), some type of microcurrent light zappy tool, then face mask with a blue light for about maybe 30mins? then lastly a mild acid serum. for all this im there for about total 1.5 hrs. Keep in mind, its called a silk "peel" but this is not like a chemical peel that you would expect to actually get peeling skin afterwards (which i assumed was what it was). It is like a thoroughly cleansing facial to target acne. From the first time i came, my skin has definitely improved. And i will just need to continue maintaining my skin going forward (i purchased a 5 session package). Dana is very nice and has attention to detail that i really appreciate. Thank you! :-) read more

Ms Dana really takes care of you. This review has been long overdue. But i have been coming to Dana for almost a year now. I did the 5 treatment package microneedle with silk peel at first and loved the results. So i added 5 more. Mind you I have acne prone skin and it's hormonal acne. So before i decided to get this treatment, i had to make sure my acne was controlled. I still get a few breakouts especially during that time of the month. But yes, i had acne scars, ice pick scars & large pores. And after getting her treatment my skin got a lot better. (I also had to change my diet and avoid dairy since it causes my breakouts as well) Anyway her prices are reasonable and you can pay in installments. She also sells skin care products which are really good as well like Vit. C serum and Seacret products. How the treatment is done is first she will cleanse your face (of course). Then start with the silk peel (does not hurt by the way) then she does extractions, removing blackheads, whiteheads & pimples (slightly painful but tolerant) after that she will brush on this mask and give u a scalp massage then leave u to rest for a few mins before she starts with the microneedle. The microneedle is a little painful (but im like a baby when it comes to pain so depends on your pain tolerance) it feels like tiny jack hammers on your skin. It's not as bad as how i'm describing it lol. So after that, she will place a collagen mask with red light therapy for like 20mins. (This was so soothing). Then your done! It takes about an 1 hour & 45mins for the whole session. So u will leave with a slightly red face which will last for about 48hours. Then for about a week you will experience slight peeling so i had to apply extra moisturizer on my skin for this and of course since a layer of skin was basically removed, your face will feel raw. And of course stay away from the sunlight. That will damage the skin and of course apply sunscreen if you do have to go out. Like if i had to go out the next day. I just put make up on. Dana said i could use make up if i wanted to. And by the 2nd week u will start noticing the difference. I love my skin now. Feel more confident with it. So yes i would recommend Dana if you are interested with getting rid of acne scars and smoothing your face. She is good and thorough with what she does. I'll put in a before and after photo soon. I've tried a few facial places within the area but Dana's is the best so far. My skin is on the oilier side. I never really get huge red pimples, but I do get black heads and white heads. I tried not to squeeze them but it seemed to build up over time and made my face look not as smooth and bumpy. I wanted smoother skin so went to Dana's hoping she can extract my white heads and hoping that they don't come back that fast and leave no scars. I was actually very impressed the first time I go there... I told her my concerns as well as my concern about scarring. I do have some acne scars from teenage years and I've always recommended by other facial places to do the chemical peel. Dana's does offer chemical peel so I asked her about it. She was being honest to me and told me that she does not recommend chemical peel to Asian skin because apparently we have thinner skin than other ethnicities. Thank you for telling me that! Because I've been fooled by the last facial place that I used to go to...(and of course I did the chemical peel there).. Anyways, based on my skin type after Dana looked at my skin, she recommended me to do the acne facial (extraction) and silk peel (not sure how to describe this but she uses a machine and it makes your skin soooo smooth afterwards). I was very happy with the result right after silk peel. She told me to touch my face right after it surely does feel very smooth! After that she did extraction on me and it hurt sooo much! But it was worth it! No pain no gain. My white heads and stuff usually come back few days after a facial in other places but after Dana's facial it lasted very long ! And my white heads don't build up anymore!!! They just disappear! I will continue to go to Dana's :) I think I'll try oxygen facial next time as well. Side note: Dana's facial is a bit more expensive than others but it's worth it. I've tried cheaper places before and it did nothing. So what's the point of spending any money on something that doesnt work when you can spend it on something that works? She is very professional and she cares about your skin! 100% would recommend. Even thought I've been coming to Dana's for the a few years now, I've only had about 3 sessions with her. I usually only go when I have intense breakouts of acne or want to clear up my scars, and I've got to say everytime I go, I can see a noticeable difference after a few days. I originally did not take care of my skin as a teenage boy, but I now see the importance of it and am glad my mom introduced me to her. I wish I could give this place 6 stars!!! I have been here for only one time and my face gets much much much better now. I receive a lot of compliments recently, too. Dana does a wonderful job. Unlike other places, she takes her time with your skin. I used to have extraction at other places where they spend 45 minutes on washing/massaging your face and only 5 minutes on the actual extraction, which is totally not worth the money. With Dana, even though you are going pay just a little bit more, what you get is an hour of actual care. I would not say an hour, but I guess Dana will remove every blackheads and pimples on your face even that takes more than an hour! Don't forget to make appointment before you come as she is usually booked. However, being a nice person, she is always willing to work with you in the last minutes if you need so. It's easy to see why Dana has 5 star review on her Yelp. I have been her customer for half a year or so now. She has the best extraction skill from all the estheticians I have tried in the past. I don't usually have bad visible acne (sometimes I get a few red ones) but I always get pimples that are deeper in the skin tissue that normal facialist doesn't know how to extract leaving me with more visible pimples days after the facial. Besides that I have tried various of her facial treatments and I have to say my favorite is her dermal facial (one with the little needles). If you have mature skin and are looking to have more youthful glow, this is a cool solution to try. Disclaimer it does hurt and I have pretty sensitive skin, so the day of the treatment my skin is pretty red. However, it's so worth it I keep going back for the same treatment. The next few days your skin would get a little darker, but then once it heals, you get this glow. I think the treatment promotes collagen. She's always very flexible and tries to accommodate my schedule. I guess I would describe her as somewhere between a regular facialist and a med spa. It's a little pricier but I am happy with the results. Get the VIP package, it definitely saves you money in the long run, and she throws in free light treatments and masks for you. If I win the lottery, I would so get her treatments every week. LOL. Highly recommended. read more
