To prepare for my best friend's wedding, I began coming to Mary from March to July 2022.
Some background knowledge:
- I definitely go through phases where I am super on top of my skincare routine (I'm talkin' the double cleansing, toner, serum, active, moisturizer, oil, etc.), and then I have months where I pretty much just wash my face and call it a day
- I've gone to a few other places for facials ranging from med spas to small businesses
- I really hated microneedling when I went to a med spa
- You know how they tell you not to try and pop a pimple yourself? I like to live on the wild side, do it, and regret it.
Booking is an absolute breeze. You go to the website and enter the booking & contact section to set-up your first consultation/appointment. Mary will also text you some protocols beforehand (stay home if you are sick, her cancellation policy, etc.), and you can always message her with any questions.
My first consult with Mary sealed the deal. She was non-judgmental, despite me walking in with two freshly popped areas, and we got down to business discussing my current skincare routine, what I'm hoping to see by the big day, and what treatments would be best for me.
Things that I absolutely loved:
- Mary didn't try to change my current routine; she said we could evaluate how it was going as we worked together on my skin and habits of picking at my face (we actually didn't change my routine at all, since it was actually working really well when I decided to be consistent--shocking how that works lol)
- She didn't try to sell me on a million products or encourage me to swap to everything she uses
- She's super personable and just genuinely sweet--she's the kind of person you want to be best friends with and the cheerleader (for your skin and life successes) that we could all use more of
- We decided to start with facials until my breakouts cleared
- When we finally tackled microneedling, it was actually relaxing. I don't know what I was undergoing before, but I could definitely tell the numbing cream worked amazingly this time (or it's the fact that Mary applied it with such care and attention to detail).
- There are people you can sit in comfortable silence with, and Mary is one of them. I went from chatterbox to practically asleep after she applied my mask, and she didn't try to force the conversation.
The Diamond Bar location (she also has a location in West Covina) is inside Phoenix Salon, so you wait until she is ready for you, and she'll grab you from the main entrance and take you back to her studio. Her room is beautifully decorated and simply divine--everything is super clean, and you can tell how much effort Mary put in to curate such a gorgeous space for her clients. The ambiance is perfect, and the background spa music is on point.
Parking is the SoCal dream, since it is located in a large shopping plaza. I can usually nab a spot right in front of the doors.
This is definitely where you want to go. My time with Mary quickly became the highlight of my month when I was going regularly, and I can't wait until I can get back in the routine of my relaxing hour with her! read more
