I called Dan again, this time for new water heater. He came out right away and did a fantastic job - as usual. He gave me tips to prolong the life of my new water heater. The price was very reasonable. Shout out to his son and helper who also did a great job. Mahalo! read more

We had Dan come and replace an outdated toilet for a ADA toilet, to make the quality of life easier for Grandma. The old toilet only 15" in height, was a task for Grandma to sit and stand. Dan installed a 17" bowl height toilet, and we have a 2" high bidet on it adding it to just shy of a 20" toilet seat height. Dan came in, assessed the job, and went right to work. He's definitely the guy, as he assembled, installed and operated to ensure no issues. Dan was right on time, was great about prepping his area where he was working and cleaned up nicely. It's our 2nd time utilizing Dans business, I'm a big believer of patronizing the small local businesses, versus the bigger name commercial companies. Dan does great work and I highly recommend him to anyone that needs a good plumber. read more

This is overdue but I have to change my rating from a 5 star to a 1 star after issues that I had with a leak from my toilet installation leading to drywall ceiling damages and Dan being non-responsive during this time. It was a slow lead discovered by another plumber that I had to hire to fix the leak because Dan did not follow-up with any communication through either text or phone which I had requested. If any of you know when you call Dan's cell (that's the only way to contact him) he may answer the phone but always leaves a voice message to tell you that the best way to reach him is to leave a text message as "pretty much your voice mail will not get a response"...That being said you would expect Dan to either call you back or text you back which I had none. I discovered the leak on Friday night (at the time not knowing the exact source of the leak except that it was leaking from the newly installed toilet installation from Dan. I left a message for him to call me and to ask if he would be able to take a look next day Saturday since his hours are 8:00 am to noon and to let me know either way so I could look for other plumbers to resolve the leak in the event he was not able to come. I also, left a text message as well. I did not hear from him with either a call or text, so I called at 8:00 am on Sat and every 1/2 hour there after hoping he would respond which he didn't. I reached out to another YELP plumber, and he was able to service me and discovered that the leak was from either the new water supply line (supplied by Dan) was defective or was not tighten enough at the toilet tank, which led to a slow drip down to my downstairs ceiling. The leak was eventually fixed by the plumber after doing some troubleshooting, but my ceiling was damaged and needed to dry out over several days to prevent mold from growing. I continued to call and text Dan on Sun, Mon with no response, when on Tuesday he finally answered. I told him about the leak and damage but WHY he did not bother or have the courtesy to call back and/or text back knowing I had a leak because of his work? I mentioned I was contemplating filing a complaint to BBB and DCCA about his business practice of not responding and that triggered him to go into a raging fit with "F-Bombs" and telling me to go ahead with filing a frivolous complaint because DCCA would assess me $500 for filing a false claim which I know would never happen, but I found his threat ironic, since I initially gave Dan a 5 star review and recommended his service to others? He later texted me and offered to send his handyman to repair my ceiling, but I declined to have further contact with someone who failed to communicate by either phone and/or text back to a customer who gave him a 5-star rating and recommended his service and starts throwing out "F-Bombs" at them? Coincidentally, right after my unfortunate incident during 11/8-11/12, there were a couple of complaints 1-star incidents around the same time and now "Dan Does Plumbing" is temporarily close until November 11, 2025, yet there is a holiday schedule for Dec 2024 and an active business hour of operation on his Yelp Page? Dan's Business phone still works so despite the Yelp site saying it's temporarily closed, so I believe Dan is still taking on plumbing work and if so, I cannot recommend him to anyone. Take your chances if you do, but "it's a red flag" when he doesn't text or call you back read more

Great work again! This is the second time that I used this company's services. Prompt response to my quote to dig up the old mainline valve, replace with a new section of pipe, and relocated the mainline shut off to a ball valve to the side of house for easy access. Reasonably priced and great value of quality workmanship. Dan definitely Does great Plumbing read more

Very honest and fair contractor. And got the job done! He's now my go to plumber for basic home plumbing repairs.

Service 10 May 2021 I contacted Dan Does Plumbing late on the evening of mother's day (Sunday 9th May) and early the following morning I had a response inquiring if I still needed service. Yelp indicated that I was communicating with the business owner, Daniel. I acknowledged that I still needed service so we exchanged a few messages on Yelp. He provided his phone number then asked me to text him a message with images of the toilet that needed service; I did and he responded promptly to those messages. After sending the images, Daniel informed me that he would be able to stop by my house later than same day. The time was convenient for me so I agreed. He also provided a quote which he informed me was for parts and services. I felt the price was reasonable but I expected it to change once the work was done (in my experience, some estimated quotes over the phone are just that, estimated quotes). Fast forward to later that day when my service was scheduled. I didn't hear from Daniel so I just assumed he was busy, it happens so I was not too worried. About 30-45 minutes after the scheduled time, I received a phone call asking for directions.. Turns out the GPS took him on the other side of town. Since I was inside, I was unaware that his coworker was already outside waiting for Daniel to arrive. Apparently his GPS sent him elsewhere too but he eventually found my house. When Daniel finally arrived, him and his coworker got straight to work. They immediately identified the problem and within a few minutes and a few flushes, had my toilet working like new. Previously during our message conversation, Daniel informed me that he took cash, check or card as forms of payment. For card, he would need an email address for receipt or invoice to pay online if by card. I had cash so that was the form of payment I used (when he quoted me is exactly what I paid; no extra fees). Before leaving he asked me to provide my email address, which I did. Later that night, I received an invoice for the service I received. I am happy with the service I received from Dan Does Plumbing. They promptly responded to my request and was able to provide same-day service. I will be using this business in the future if the need ever arises and would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

Showed up on time fixed everything I needed fixed and for the best price I could find. Lots of plumbers are just ridiculously overpriced in my opinion. Both showed up ready to work and finished within the hour. Fast, friendly, reliable, professional, and went above and beyond by fixing extra small leak at no extra cost. Thank you so much. I will for sure be calling you for any plumbing repairs I may need in the future. Mahalo! read more

I normally do reviews after thinking about what I am going to write, however, this is a situation where I couldn't wait to do the review! I called Dan, after reviews from Yelp, because of my failed YouTube attempt to remove and install a bathroom faucet. I was proud of myself after removing the old faucet but my problems came after I "thought" I did it correctly. Well it was all good until I tested it by pouring water and of course it leaked! When I called Dan yesterday, which was Friday, he said he could make it to our house the next day which was today. This after he considered coming later that evening. I told him Saturday morning was fine. He was prompt and saw the "mistakes" I made and fixed it in less time than it took me to put putty on a pipe! Here are the reasons why Dan is da Man(couldn't resist): 1) He answered the phone!!! Not naming names but a plumber I used to use doesn't! 2) Dan is a man of his word. He said he would be at the house between 8:00 am to 8:30 am. He came 15 mins early. 3) Dan could have charged double what he did. Did I mention he came on a Saturday?! 4) Most importantly I can tell by our phone conversation and in person he genuinely cares about his customers well being. This is not always the case with other companies. I have no doubt that Dan is my new go to plumber! If you have any plumbing issue give him a call because I have tried others and he keeps his word. He is more than fair with his rates! read more

Dan is fantastic! He's efficient, friendly with a great sense of humor, hard-working, and affordable. He really does plumbing, and does it well! read more

It took them far too long to answer my request ,,, you don't expect to wait 24 hours when a leak is happening NOW.

He did not come to assess my toilet leak visually. He diagnosed over the phone that I should get a new toilet by asking the age of my home. He assumed that everyone can afford major repair jobs and is able to spend money during this pandemic. Poor service and I would not recommend this company. I found someone else that did the job without having to buy a new toilet. He did answer my request in a timely manner. However he was texting and driving. I hope he doesn't kill someone next time. He replied with a very petty response! There are much more professional companies out there that I would rather deal with... don't waste your time with this one. He doesn't even deserve a one star rating. read more

Dan was quick to response & very efficient! He replaced our leaky faucet in a jiffy! He was in & out within 15 minutes. And best of all, he charged us half the price of some other company! Would highly recommend Dan! read more

Our water heater suddenly stopped working so we called Dan on a Monday and he came out that same day to assess. He scheduled an appointment for Wednesday to fix it, but was actually able to come on Tuesday so our hot water was back on in no time! Dan is easy to reach via text, super responsive and knowledgeable. He told me exactly what I needed to do to find out if the tank was still under warranty and the whole process was really smooth. We will definitely be calling Dan for any future plumbing needs! Thanks Dan! read more

Dan is amazing! Great communication, fair prices, prompt service. Better than ANY other plumber on the island, I guarantee.

Dan has dealt with several plumbing issues in my condo for me. He arrives promptly, completes repairs efficiently, and is always willing to explain problems and solutions. I believe his pricing is very fair. read more

I needed a bathroom shower renovation from a double valve to a single valve system so I sent out a request for plumbers in Yelp. Dan Does plumbing was one of the plumbers to respond and gave a very good estimate for the job. Dan is very busy, but was able to squeeze my job into his busy schedule today. He was able to convert my hot and cold valves to a single Delta valve with out demolishing my bathroom tile wall. He even put in a quick access panel behind the shower for easy future access to the piping. I recommend Dan Does Plumbing for any plumbing needs. See him on KHON2 News too. No wonder he is busy and popular! Good outstanding work and great service! read more

Highly recommend! I had a clogged kitchen drain behind the wall and our regular snake was not doing the job. I found Dan's business on yelp and requested a quote and he responded very quickly and I got an appointment right away. Dan showed up when we expected him to, and he fixed our clogged drain and more!! He replaced our p-trap that our previous plumber had installed and wasn't draining our sink properly. Dan's pricing is extremely reasonable and affordable. He did a great job and he's super pleasant to talk to. My bf hates when strangers come over, but Dan won him over talking about sports and other things they have in common (super big plus!) Dan also does bathroom renovations and when he gave me a quote for a redo I was impressed with how reasonable his prices are. I would highly recommend Dan for any plumbing/kitchen/bathroom repair services read more

Dan is awesome... Very responsive. Efficient! Much more reasonably priced than others! Got in. Assessed the situation. Did the job well! Couldn't ask for anything else... I'm a happy camper!! Definitely recommend Dan!!! read more

I had to replace my 14 year old 80 gallon water heater due to leaking and rust issues. I decided to go with Dan because of all of his great reviews and his experience in changing water heaters. He quoted me his price on Yelp, and I was able to get an appointment with Dan the next business day. Dan arrived right on time and finished the job in about an hour with no issues. He even hauled away my old 80 gallon, so I didn't have to deal with that. I liked how responsive and easy it was to get a quote from Dan, and how easy it was to schedule with him. Dan is a straight-forward, no nonsense type of guy who will tell it like it is, and will give you an honest quote and won't nickel and time you. And he will tell you that, too. He even told me how to maintain and flush out my new water heater once a year so I don't have to call him and spend more money for an easy job. Dan is the man, and I will be contacting him for my future plumbing needs. read more

Dan recently did an emergency plumbing job for a neighbor in Ocean Pointe, then swung by to flush my hot water heater. Discovered it was time to replace it- Dan also replaced all my builder's grade shut values with quarter turns. I would absolutely recommend Dan for any plumbing job! I compared prices, he was comparable and reasonable. Great on communication 100%, on time and found my place without any problem. Will definitely use Dan again! read more

Got Dan's name from a friend....called about a squeaking toilet in the ADR. He answered the phone right away and was able to accommodate an appointment for the next day! awesome. Dan came with an apprentice and I was impressed with his style and how he helped the apprentice learn while replacing toilet "stuff" (sorry, I took ROTC instead of shop in HS!).... They were fast and efficient. No more talking toilet! Very reasonable and we even chatted a bit after about life. We both want to retire to the Philippines one day! So darn cheap there. Will definitely call him if the main house has issues - and it will cuz its old! Aloha Dan! read more

Dan broke my new kitchen faucet and blamed the water valve which had no problems before he replaced the faucet. He tried to fix the water valve and broke the pipe. He cut a hole on the wall to fix the pipe that he broke. He wanted me to pay for the wall repair which I disagreed. He stopped responding to my text and left me with a big hole on the wall under the sink. A small kitchen faucet replacement job tuned into a nightmare! I checked the DCCA website, he doesn't have a Hawaii contractor license. I would give him a zero star if I could. read more

Dan is the best hands down. My tenant informed me of a leak by my main shutoff and Dan gave me a quote 4x cheaper than the other guys. I asked the other guys why the quote so high and if they could break it down with parts/labor. They refused which tells me they are trying to rip you off. Dan is honest and follows through on what he says. He is also the best priced. I will be his customer for life. Thanks Dan! read more

I recently contacted this company regarding replacement of my water heater. They responded extremely promptly and I had so many questions that they patiently answered almost immediately. Thank you so much for your hard work and a great job replaced my old toilet! Dan is very friendly and professional, reasonable price compare to those big plumbing companies. Definitely will do business again and recommend to my family and friends! Thanks again! read more

If you're looking for a plumber, look no further, no seriously! Not only does Dan do some great work but more importantly, he's one of the most affordable and honest plumbers on the island (at least IMHO, for what it's worth). I like the fact that he started investigation immediately over the phone after making contact with him and trying my best to explain the issue we were facing by directing me to take various pictures and texted them to him to help him figure out what exactly we were dealing with. He then set up a time the same day, came over and got straight to work. I'm thinking since we worked together taking the photos he then knew what parts to bring for our issue saving us all time and restoring our access to water in our place. I feel it's hard to find quality blue collar businesses where you don't feel like they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes and w/ Dan, I definitely felt like he was looking out for us. This was the second time we used Dan. The first time we needed our water heater replaced. We got four quotes total and he easily beat the others, saving us a good bit of money. If we ever have a plumbing issue again (hopefully no time soon lol), he will be the first plumber we call! read more

Dan is just awesome! Quick and reliable! Would call him again in a heartbeat and highly recommend him.

It was great working with Dan to replace a water heater in our apartment. It was easy to get a quote and set up an appointment via text. He even went to pick up the water heater from the store for us and hauled away the old one. He was quick and friendly. Very fair pricing. Thank you! read more

Dan and his crew, Reggie and another guy, I didnt get his name, came in and helped fix a leaking shower issue we had. Dan was the first to visit the house, take a look at our situation and give us a reasonable estimate which is free. The following day he got back to us after talking to his crew and set us up with an appointment two days from the call and Reggie showed up on the dot when Dan said he would be there. Reggie walked me through the work he was going to do and even as they were working. He even helped me regrout some of my tile outside of the bathroom because he had a lot of extra to spare and noticed I needed to fix that too. In the end I was very happy with the work they did. They were all very professional and worked quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended and I will be sure to use theor service again if I ever need it. read more
