I had made the reservations about 3 weeks before. As with the last time I booked, I was very surprised that it wastn closer to sold out already. We have been to a few different hot springs some have been pretty cool, literally. The last one was outside Fairbanks Alaska in the winter. But one thing that is common at these spots is that they are communal pools. There tends to be a creeper now and then. But Riverbend has private pools, facing the Rio Grande. So this time I made note of the temps of each individual pool on the website, and got us the hottest one. It was perfect. It really does have pools that drop off right into the Rio. It was close to dusk and the river was flowing past the long shadows in front of us. The hour of relaxation flew by. It is the best we have been to. I am sorta happy that they arent so known as to be overbooked. Because we will be back again next time we are in the area.

We chose the Superman room for the indoor tub - some of the other rooms have tubs on private patios. We were advised to bring our own snacks which I'd recommend since food choices in the area are limited. There is a cutting board, cutlery and plates, as well as a small fridge/freezer. I booked my reservation over the phone, and the owner was so sweet, and gave me very thorough information on the place. When I arrived I was impressed. It's an original vintage motel that retains it's vintage charm on the outside, but is modernized on the inside. The rooms are so clean, with soft, good quality sheets and a comfortable bed. There's a flat screen tv, the temperature control works well, wifi is great. This feels more like a home than a motel. There's even free breakfast in the morning. It's nice and quiet here, and the grounds are well maintained. Very nice, safe place to stay. I'm so glad I found this gem and will try to return again soon. Thanks guys!

The room is very cool regarding the temperature because they have mini splits and somewhat cool with decorations like the bed spreads. The people there have always been fantastic. Where they need improvement is with the interior design. The space has been a bit convuluted over time but has good bones. It looks a little run down which may make it seem unclean. Also, it smells a little too strong from maybe cleaning sprays or something else.

Not only does the Desert View Inn have ridiculously good prices, it also has the nicest proprietor in town - Hans! Hans is also president of the Chamber of Commerce and he knows customer service! He is dedicated to making his guests comfortable and happy - even down to bringing around coffee in the morning. The rooms are simple but extremely comfortable. Amenities include free WiFi, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, flat screen TV with satellite, and bath products. There is also a charming outdoor seating area with a large grill for guest use as well as chairs and tables outside of the rooms. The real fun, however, is Penny! Penny is Hans' adorable gentle giant of a dog, who will lovingly greet you at check-in and around the grounds!

The staff was kind, the lobby was clean. The room was pretty clean except that the shower in the bathroom smelled like mildew. I think they need to replace the shower curtain. The breakfast buffet was adequate. They had all the common breakfast buffet goods including a pancake robot machine. Parking was safe and plentiful.
