Listening to Damon Bruce is like working in a business park; only having a half hour for lunch and you have to eat the slop at the business park deli/restaurant because it's your only viable option. It's not horrible but you can see it from there (if you enjoy self-annointed, self-serving, embarrassingly suck-upping, back stabbing, delusional egomaniacs). And BTW, Jay Mohr hasn't been funny since....ever. That being said, the other option from KNBR in that time slot is absolutely unlistenable. I'm sure Fitz and Rod are good guys but they make me want to drive my car into a tree everytime I listen to them. Ralph and Tom??? On both stations??? Really??...The absolute worst, inane, irrelevant, senile, childish, unlistenable verbal stew on the air...anywhere. Who's got pictures of who to allow that madness to continue. Thanks for the memories Ralph but give the station and it's listeners a break and go away...soon...like yesterday. Continue to brood and obsess on OJ and other "current" events and leave the sports to people who actually care, watch and are aware of sports post 1997. And the 80's wrestling references are always fresh...oh, wait. Gary and Larry are barely listenable because of Larry's sports knowledge and Gary's over-exposed,"I've lived a little bit", cynicism which appears to be genuine and somewhat entertaining in a pathetic, sympathetic sort of way. If you are too big for this, as you apparantly feel you are, go join Ralph on the "Champions Tour" of cranky, transparantly contrarian ex-local "radio celebs". I'm glad you made me aware that the only reason you are doing this is to put your children through school because I truly give a flying hoot about that...oh, wait. The only bright light in this incredibly weak lineup is the Murph and Mac Show in the morning. They apparantly have decided to combine sports passion, knowledge, humor and insight and present it an entertaining way. Not a bad formula.
Let me guess..."If you hate us so much, why do you tune in?" The standard, predictable retort to critical assessment of radio "talent". See business park deli reference above.
To have this level of mediocrity on a 50,000 watt venue is either the product of non-negotiable contract obligations for obviously out of touch, irrelevant, dispassionate talent or lack of vision, commitment or awareness by station programmers. The local FM option, fortunately for you, is equally unlistenable at even deeper levels, but the time has come to replace your small, weak fish in this very big pond. read more
