The Kentlands pool reminds me of my summers as a kid. All the kids in the neighborhood have a blast just like me in my old pool. The staff at the pool are great, they're always on top of everything and focused on making sure all patrons have a great time. My niece needed to complete a swim test and the manager was on it, the whole process was easy and stress free. Last week I fell asleep working on my tan and a young handsome lifeguard politely woke me up when the pool was closing. He was truly a professional. Overall, you can take my word that the Kentlands pool is the best pool I've ever been to.

It's just average, the pool is clean enough, the chairs are ok, and the life guards are fine. But the special something is just missing! When I look around the pool it's strangely quiet and their isn't that summer spark I expect. In my experience at the Kentlands Pool I also found one major flaw. The ping pong table and balls were a disgrace! I was shocked at the poor quality and it made playing ping pong with my son unbearable. Overall, the Kentlands Pool lacks that special something but is a passable pool if you need to take a quick dip.

I aint trying to name drop, but we all know who the honeys are. If you can spit game, then you'll find a summer fling for sure. This jaunt opens at noon on the weekends. I come in through the backside past the vending machine. That joint has the best deals on East Village Ave. They've got Munchos for only 70 cents and dr. pepper for 85 cents. You can drink behind the black line. Give the receptionist your ID and you'll be on your way. The moment you exit the locker room feels like the red carpet. You feel like all eyes are on you. I always struggle with where to focus my eyes. I don't want to be a hot boy magee, but I want to check out the ladies. I usually just play it cool and look from side to side as I pretend that I'm looking for a good spot even though I always head to the same area. Just don't be hot. Put your sandals beneath the chair; otherwise they will be burning with heat. There are very few of those Ron Jon surf shop girls, the slutty sunburned ones who look kind of crusty. They must all be in Ocean City. The ice cream man comes every top of the hour. He sells various items. Hot dogs, firecracker popsicles, flintstones push up ice cream treats, fruit roll ups, chips, cigarette candy, bazooka gum, and pez. They're an Asian immigrant family, and they're so fresh. Cash only. Venmo is not accepted. The diving boards are fun. Sometimes the kids all line up behind one diving board even though both are open. There is a pair of women who swim laps in the 5 feet area for 30 minutes before leaving for home. They skip the crowds! I see one of them running on East Village Avenue on weekends. I think they're in their 50s. The pool water is cold at the beginning of the summer. By August that jaunt gets way too warm. It's a good place to swim. I've got guest passes, too.

I tried out this place because two friends had brought their children for the parent/child swimming classes. Those book immediately because there's such high demand. I tried enrolling my 4 yo in the Fearful Swimmers class (supposed to be designed for kids afraid of the water but allows parents to be on the deck). I liked the graded pool with the kids and the inexpensive classes. However I was very disappointed because they started the class without him even though we were on time and showed up 5 mins early (and I had even introduced ourselves to the instructor). The instructor was young and seemed very inexperienced with children. She didn't know how to warm up to my son so he was really scared and shy. The other two kids had already done the class before so they seemed inappropriately advanced for the class at least based off the online description IMO. Basically she focused on the other kids while mostly ignoring my son who was playing on the side (my friend said that was her experience in the class as well- her daughter was ignored the entire time and basically ignore kids who can't keep up), and they told me to do the mommy and me class instead. I felt like I was being blamed or that it was my son's fault even though the class description is supposed to be for kids who are afraid. I was pretty disappointed with the whole experience, so I asked for a refund which they fortunately granted. The following week I took him to Goldfish Swim School even though it's more expensive and it was like night and day- WAY more kid friendly, instructors are trained to really play and work with children of all levels. He was just as afraid during his trial and refused to go in the water, but the deck supervisor at Goldfish jumped in and gave him a 1:1 introductory class instead. By the second session at Goldfish he was totally acclimated and following the teacher and having so much fun, and the time was split evenly among kids instead of just favoring the stronger/more advanced kids. Honestly you get what you pay for in a private facility vs public facility.
