The Kentlands pool reminds me of my summers as a kid. All the kids in the neighborhood have a blast just like me in my old pool. The staff at the pool are great, they're always on top of everything and focused on making sure all patrons have a great time. My niece needed to complete a swim test and the manager was on it, the whole process was easy and stress free. Last week I fell asleep working on my tan and a young handsome lifeguard politely woke me up when the pool was closing. He was truly a professional. Overall, you can take my word that the Kentlands pool is the best pool I've ever been to.

It's just average, the pool is clean enough, the chairs are ok, and the life guards are fine. But the special something is just missing! When I look around the pool it's strangely quiet and their isn't that summer spark I expect. In my experience at the Kentlands Pool I also found one major flaw. The ping pong table and balls were a disgrace! I was shocked at the poor quality and it made playing ping pong with my son unbearable. Overall, the Kentlands Pool lacks that special something but is a passable pool if you need to take a quick dip.

The outdoor pool area has gone through an AMAZING transformation!…read more I first want to say that unfortunately I don't have many pictures. I didn't want to seem rude and make people self conscious by taking pictures with them in it, specially when in bathing suits and lots of young children. With that said, this outdoor pool is beautiful! The parking space is ample. So many places to park. The surrounding area is covered by trees and other outdoor activities including a baseball diamond/field and a very nice skate park. Upon entering, there is a small fee to get in daily. I believe residents receive discount to and there are passes available. As soon as we entered the swimming area, I was really impressed! Plenty of spaces to sit. There was a camp with hundreds and hundreds of children running around. They didn't all listen to the lifeguards. There were no chairs available -- that's on us, we should have come at opening, but it was wildly overcrowded and then another camp with even younger children arrived. My kids are young teen/tween age and excellent swimmers but it's more crowded than a Great Wolf Lodge on a holiday with a lot less supervision. I felt awful for the lifeguards. We'll likely come back on a weekend because the facilities are great but the amount of children vs adults/older teens is honestly hard to imagine and felt very stressful.

We joined Ridge Swim Club this past winter and unfortunately had to terminate our membership…read moreshortly afterward because we moved out of the area. The biggest concern, and something I think prospective members should understand before joining, is the financial situation surrounding the membership bond. We are currently #238 on the bond repayment list, meaning there are 237 former members ahead of us waiting to have their bonds returned. Had we understood the size of the repayment backlog and the club's financial position before joining, it absolutely would have factored into our decision. We personally did not feel the extent of that situation was adequately disclosed or made clear during the membership process. I understand that clubs can have financial challenges and that the bond repayment process may be outlined in the bylaws, so I'm not suggesting Ridge is violating its policies. However, there is a big difference between knowing that repayment isn't immediate and realizing you may be behind more than 200 other families waiting for repayment. Our experience with the club itself was limited because of our move, so I can't fairly comment on the pool, facilities, staff, or day-to-day experience. My reason for leaving this review is simply to make sure prospective members ask the right questions before paying a bond: How many former members are currently awaiting repayment? How many bonds are typically repaid each year? And realistically, how long should a departing member expect to wait? I wish we had asked those questions before joining.

When considering the cost of a membership with the number of times we've had to turn around and go home, it is not worth it. It would benefit the club to expand the fence around the pool so when the lounge chairs are full members could put towels behind. I could see the club being good for swim team members; it has nice lanes for swimming laps, but for anyone else, if you want to go for a swim through the week anytime after 4, the swim team is using it.
