We stopped there to eat dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the good food and great service. It's a modest but clean and quaint restaurant on a side street off the main drag in Damascus, VA. My husband ordered a burger, fries and unsweetened tea and a side salad and I had the meatloaf with 3 sides. Our salads had homemade blue cheese dressing that was delicious and all the food was very good homestyle cooking and very reasonably priced. They also serve alcohol. It was so nice to find a place on a Tuesday open till 9pm since many places close very early in the day in this part of the world. Grabbed a bite to eat as we came back riding the Creeper Trail from Abingdon and back. A local recommended the chicken sandwich and salad. My husband liked both. I had the hand-made black bean burger and it was terrific, and inexpensive- $4.99. The service was prompt and friendly. Overall a great experience. Stopped by for lunch after doing the creeper trail. Restaurant was very crowded I thought it was going to be good, only to be very disappointed. First ordered chili hot dogs to find out they were out. My husband and I ordered black angus burger medium rare only to have a well done flattened burger! My friend had meatloaf sandwich and loved it! read more

Was stunned to see the staff not wearing any masks (not even under their chin, just not trying or concerned) at all despite the state order. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe, so if you care about not catching COVID, don't come here. read more

On way home from Chrysler Nationals wife and I spent night at Mill House Lodge in Damascus Va. After reading the review about employees and customers not WEARING MASK I knew this was the place for me. (after much research, I've concluded, for me, mask don't protect from a virus and in some cases can harm you, but that's for another day) we both had eggs over easy, crispy bacon and God help us, biscuits with sausage gravy, hash browns and grits. The eggs were a perfect over medium, grits was not runny, just perfect. Bacon was crispy and flavorful. Biscuits & gravy, well they're just like the line in an Alan Jackson song, "just like mama fixed em". Down to the fountain coke it was absolutely wonderful. Looking back, the best part was being in an establishment where not wearing a MASK didn't make you feel like you had murdered someone. If you stop in Damascus Va. You owe it to yourself to grab breakfast at DAMASCUS DINER. read more

The food here is quite delicious and filling. The wait staff was very nice and helpful. My family and I stopped in here for breakfast on the way to go hike some trails, and we were glad we did. I have been to the Damascus Diner for both breakfast and lunch and can't praise it enough. The breakfasts are wonderful. My husband and I have tried it all: biscuits, gravy, sausage, home fries, french toast, pancakes, you name it they have it and it's all delicious. As far as lunch, their burgers are excellent, meatloaf tasted homemade and the soup beans and corn bread would make a Southern grandma weep with joy. Good service. We went once during Trail Days when most restaurants would have given up dealing with the crowd and the food came out as promptly as could be expected while the waitress kept her cool. Damascus needed a place like this. read more

We went for dinner and were disappointed. I had the Atlantic White Fish with slaw and mashed potatoes. I didn't eat the slaw, the potatoes were bland and the fish left a greasy taste for hours. Be prepared to have to change your clothes, the smell will linger! read more

This place is a diamond in the rough! It looks like a typical greasy spoon that would serve up a bunch of typical fried diner/bar food. (Yes there are those choices too!). But we went there and had a great salad with baby greens- no iceberg, juicy tender well-seasoned grilled chicken! We enjoyed it so much we went back for breakfast. Crispy real potatoes and a veggie omelette for me! The food here was real, the service was warm and friendly, special orders weren't a problem. Food came out hot. One of the best diners I have been to! I ordered french toast with a side of biscuits and gravy. The food came out quickly and was in veryyy generous portions. My french toast was unfortunately only okay. I had a bite of someone else's pancake, which was delicious. The biscuits and gravy were PHENOMENAL! This meal was just shy of four stars since I had to drench my french toast in syrup, but still yummy. If I am passing through Damascus Diner again, I will be sure to stop by. read more

Stopped in for a quick early lunch and quick is an understatement! Ordered a black bean burger and a side salad and the salad was on my table in under a minute. The black bean burger arrived about 5 minutes after that. Everything was delicious and the staff was very friendly. read more

Great food in a very quaint and clean diner. After seeing the tourist-targetting prices along the main road in Damascus we went deeper into town to find something that looked more local focused. Damascus Diner was it! The menu had typical diner fare like burgers, but also had some unexpected items and specials. The prices were very fair, service was friendly, and the place was really spotless. To top it off the food was very good! I especially recommend the rice and beans (if they have it) and angel food cake with strawberries and ice cream for desert. read more

A wonderful lunch!!! Empty until we arrived, but filled up fast. Locals, tourists, hikers from Appalachian Trail. Dad's meatloaf was scrumptious, as was the bacon an turkey on egg bread smothered in cheese sauce. We'll com back again if in the area. read more
