My 3-star rating is related to the work that was actually done to unstop my kitchen sink. I had…read morehired Molalla Plumbing 3 years ago to perform the same work and the guy that came out was amazing. He not only cleared the drain but he cleaned up after himself and left my home in perfect condition. So this time, when the drain once again quit draining, I called Molalla Plumbing. They were able to come out the next afternoon and a different guy than last time came out to do the un-stopping of the drain. The problems started when the snake he was using made a turn and instead of continuing down the main drain line from the kitchen, went up the drain line into the bathroom where it knocked off the bathroom sink drain pipe and spewed nasty stinky almost-black "stuff" in the area under the sink (by the way, it's never a good thing when you hear the person doing the work say "uh oh"). I had been sitting in the living room and I heard him ask if I had any towels that he could use and of course I pulled out a couple of towels for him to sop up the mess on the floor (he had also turned on the water at the sink faucet before he realized that the drain line had come apart so there was also fresh water pouring into the space under the sink.) He had removed the items under the sink (fabric softener, clothes soap, cleanser, etc.) to put the pipe back together and then he put all the things back under the sink and closed the cabinet doors. I paid the bill (which turned out to have a bigger surcharge for using my debit card than he told me it would be) and as the guy was leaving, I asked him if there was anything I needed to do about the bathroom and he said "no." After he left, I decided to check under the sink and found that nothing had been cleaned and that the mat under the items was soaked with the wet stinky gross mess. He had just put everything back without cleaning anything. It took me more than a half hour to pull the items out and clean them off (some things had to be hosed off outside because they were so covered in that stinky stuff I couldn't get them clean any other way). The mat had to be thrown away; it was not recoverable. Wished I'd taken pics but all I could think of was to get it cleaned up before it all dried! So, 2 stars ("could've been better") for a kitchen sink that actually drains now but docked 3 stars for the mess that was left and the bill being more than I was told it would be. Next time I'll be calling someone else.

Everyone in the crew was clean and neat in appearance and arrived right on time. They were coming and going throughout the day and there were a bunch of them, including Tony Lescanec and Jim Thomason, and they were all really great guys (I say "guys" because I saw no women on site). I'm the type that wants to know stuff and I asked a lot of questions. They were always courteous and friendly in answering everything I "needed" to know. After the install, they went over each piece with us, including the new fancy thermostat. The system is fantastic - it's so quiet - and it works great! I can't wait to see how it does during the upcoming HOT summer months. Btw, they left the area rather clean, save for a couple of pointy screws. Great work by the team from Roth Home. It was a bit more spendy than we had anticipated, but with their "free AC if you buy a furnace" promo and the lifetime parts and labor warranty, we were going with Roth!

Beware of Flat Rate Pricing There's a lot that can be said…read moreabout the service Roth Home offers, in terms of the timeliness and quality of their work. However, their flat rate pricing resulted in my wife and me paying $790.42 for an hour's worth of actual plumbing work for what turned out to be two simple tasks--removing and installing a new faucet in the kitchen sink and draining our hot water heater. Roth Home's initial price for the faucet repair was $878.24. They also drained the hot water heater while they were here. We did not ask questions about what was involved and how long it would take (our mistake). When we questioned the charges after the work was done, we were given a 10% senior discount. Later they said we weren't charged the usual fee of $336 to drain the hot water heater. According to them, we were "only" charged $790.42 and received a "savings" of $423.82. Our recommendation is to ask questions and proceed with caution. Document what you are told (and by whom) and how long any work takes.
