As you may expect, junkyards are not notorious for customer service or help finding parts but this…read moreone is good. Negotiating for a part can be a bit more challenging here vs. other salvage yards. Clemente is very helpful but does charge high prices for parts that can be purchased for half the cost at salvage yards on Jefferson in Dallas.

This looks like just any other junk yard, with one difference. This one seems to have their act…read moretogether. I called before hand to make sure they had a replacement engine for a 1997 Wrangler and they said they did. I drove out there and lo and behold, they actually had the engine I asked for. If you don't know, other yards will tell you they have it, but they may not have the actual engine you're looking for, it could be a cross-referenced engine from a different year or something else. And true, they may be the same engine but there are times when you want to avoid certain years that engine was manufactured because of defects from that year or for whatever reason. When I arrived, I asked for the engine, they said, "Do you want to see it?" "Sure." They take me back to the back where the engines are and there it is. All the engines are on dollies which is really awesome. I take a look, it looks fine, nothing looks broken or bent or whatever. I pay for it and they ask for the core charge in cash. That was a bit weird, since I wanted to put it on a credit card, but I was glad that I had enough cash. The engine was in great shape, actually. The inside was super clean. I did replace most of the gaskets, water pump, spark plugs, etc., because I want this new engine to last a long time without leaking oil. Loading up the engine was easy, they had their mechanic hoist it up on the cherry picker and load it up in the back of my truck. He even offered me a tire to cushion the engine so it wouldn't sit directly on the bed. The people were very nice and I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I needed anything else. Probably one of the better, if not best, experiences I've had with a yard in the past 20 years. Returning the engine for the core charge was relatively easy. I did have to find the paperwork, but I already expected that and knew where it was. They did ask me where the distributor cap was but I let them know that it was broken when I bought the engine and they didn't make a fuss over it. I got my cash and off I went. They have a fuzzy cat that hangs around the yard. Was friendly enough to come up and let me pet him/her.

Last week I had the passenger side door trim come loose when I let my lady friend out of my car…read more Popped it back into place and didn't think anything of it. Couple days later, I'm on the 405 at the 22, I hear a *THUNK* and see a piece of something in my rear view mirror fly off my car and nearly hit the one behind me. If you ever saw the end to the sci-fi movie "Serenity", you know what I'm talking about. When I get to my destination, sure enough, the exterior trim applique is missing. Shit! They don't make Saturns anymore and parts are worth a small mint. People tell me to chech out Pick Your Part, but I don't feel like wasting a day in a junkyard looking for a Saturn with the trim part I need. I go online and in less than ten minutes, I find this site, find the exact part I need and checkout. Easy, peezy, lemon-squeezie! $35.17 for the trim and a bolt, including (dammit!) $9 for shipping. At least the nice thing was that it only took my mechanically-inept ass five minutes to install the trim. Funny thing I learned...my Saturn uses a lot of Chevy parts. Go figure.
