This was very disappointing, and certainly the worst barbecue I can remember having. The place looks like a Sonny's, but claims to be an existence since 1962. I ordered a half slab of baby back ribs platter, which came with cornbread and a choice of three sides. Nothing was what I would call Hot. The collard greens weren't bad, the cornbread was of the lighter variety and could've had more corn flavor, but it was also not bad. The mac & cheese was the warmest thing served to me, and it wasn't bad either, but it was dry and texture, not melting and gooey. The beans were in a thin sort of spicy and not particularly sweet syrup and we're just a touch over room temperature. Which brings us to the ribs. I ate three of them, because I was trying each of the four sauces on the table to try to bring some moisture to the party. That was the basic problem. These were the driest baby back ribs I have ever had. I just looked down at my plate halfway through and realized there was no point to continuing to eat these. They weren't worth the effort or the calories. I went to the counter and paid my bill. The hostess said why didn't you say something to your waitress? That was a fair question, I suppose, but the waitress never appeared in the dining room after bringing me the plate and I'm not quite sure what the restaurant was gonna do to infuse moisture into dried out ribs. My favorite BBQ place on the Treasure Coast! I don't usually eat pork, but their ribs are the very best and the only pork I eat - they are that good! And they have a phenomenal deal on weekday nights for a full rack, 2 sides, and a soda. And it's super reasonable to add another 1/2 rack too! The Mac n cheese is also super yummy, definitely homemade and not out of a box. Large macaroni and fresh cheese. Definitely worth a try! I hadn't tried the okra here before but decided to this time and NOT disappointed at all! Also one of the best I've ever had, especially with the homemade ranch that we always order with the onion petals (also a can't miss). And last but not least, the coleslaw!! I absolutely never eat coleslaw and really can't stand it at all, but years ago that's what people swore by here, and they are absolutely right!! It's shredded super thin, very minimal mayo, and even has a poppyseeds and slight sweetness. Not only can you not miss it, but it's actually worth going to Dale's just for it! Take Dale's name off please and call it Fails! The sliced pork platter was unfit to eat, and the beans were worse than canned and mushy . It was sliced thinner than Arby's and tasted terrible. This used to be a great place many years ago, one of the best. We took it to go or I'd be asking for my money back as we threw it in the garbage. read more

We went around 11:30ish and this place was packed! The waitress served us sweet teas and big to go cups which she kept refilling. We ordered one platter and shared it, which came with three sides. It was definitely enough for two of us. The barbecue sauce wasn't as great and we were expecting it to be like GA barbecue style but it was good. First time eating here as other times we passed by, they were closed. We actually ended up there tonight by default. Another BBQ restaurant in PSL had terrible service and delayed food coming out, so we left and drove over to Dales. The service, food, and everything here was very good. Great tasting food and good prices. Pulled pork platter with 3 sides was very tasty. Glad we had a bad experience at another place to come here and have an even better one. We will certainly be back now that we know it's good BBQ. read more

I'm super upset, angry etc.... After picking my to go order of Ribs & Chicken family combo $45+ order , I got home and have two aluminum foil with beef skillets that I don't eat beef, and this one I can't stand the smell etc .... When you get your order to go, they should get it right, since they have even a large tin can for "to go orders Tips only" I don't know what happened with them. My mom really wanted barbecue for her birthday. This was the only place I could find on my way home from work, so I ordered it online and picked it up. The staff were very nice when I picked up. Unfortunately the meat was practically inedible. Had a terrible weird smell like it was old and they had just heated it up. It definitely was not fresh!! It looked like piles of gray rubbery meat. It was dry and no amount of barbecue sauce could cover up that weird meat smell. I spent about $90 on an eight person combo, and everybody took two bites of the meat and we're grossed out. We ended up having to throw it all away. It was so gross. The baked beans and the mac and cheese were okay. The corn nuggets and the garlic toast we're good, but that's it. Waste of money! Don't know what happened to you Dale's but the food was terrible. My pork sandwich was tasteless, dry, tough and there was not enough BBQ sauce to make it any better. Your Cole slaw was from, I don't know where, but you have gone downhill. We will not be back, ever! read more

i've been going to Dale's barbecue for over 20 years. it was always great until the last year or two. Today will be our last time eating there. The tea was lousy (and it's pretty hard to mess up tea.) I took two bites of the coleslaw and left the rest. My sliced pork sandwich had chunks of fat in it. Today was a total disappointment. I guess that's why there's never a wait there anymore. Moonswiners will be my only place for barbecue in Fort Pierce. But unless you get there before high noon, there will be a wait because everybody in Fort Pierce goes to Moonswiners now! read more

once again Dales failed!!!! What is going on???? New Owners are definitely not doing Dales any justice! Last time my family and I dined in the service was terrible, no drinks refilled was never checked on we literally had to get up three times to get items we asked for but never receive. When at register paying I tilt the girl it was the worst service ever and we've been going to dales for over 40 years. Moving forward we ordered take out and again we did not receive some of our order. So dam frustrating and not the first time. WE ARE DONE With their incompetence. I don't know if the new owners have ever owned a restaurant but it sure and hell is running like they have no clue of what they are doing. Their product does not taste the same. The service is horrible and when you call they don't give a shit. Well I'm just have to gonna take that extra minute to drive out to Moonswiners where they do it right the first time every time. This place is a fort pierce staple, some prefer Moonswiner's over here. There mild sauce and ranch is banging, i like their steak fries but it can be a hit or miss often. Especially w the vibes, i've come here a decent amount of times over 10ish years and it's changed a lot, sometimes not for the better. Small, homey with great service and even better bbq at reasonable prices. Dale's has been serving Fort Pierce since 1962. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. We had sliced pork bbq and pulled pork bbq. Both were tender and juicy, not at all dry. The coleslaw is fresh made daily. I have driven past this place and always wanted to try it, so I finally got the opportunity to go with my kids last night. I wish I kept driving past it. I ordered the 1/2 bbq chicken which was just plain awful. I ordered the 3 meat plate for my wife and it was so dry she wouldn't touch it. My kids had the bbq pulled pork sandwich, there comment was " do I have to eat this". The staff was friendly and nice but the food was horrible for the $85 I spent. McDonald's would have been an upgrade. With such great BBQ in the area why settle. The decor was great and so was the sign out front but that's where it ended. read more

If you are looking for spare ribs that taste like they have been baked in an oven and served with a thin, acidic (sweet) sauce, then Dale's is for you. If, however, you are like me and want to taste the aroma of oak or hickory permeating the meat which is served with a thick, tomato-y, sweet sauce, then save your money and look elsewhere. Besides not having any flavor, the meat was not even that tender. It had been 20 years since I first tried Dales and when I drove by recently I could smell a very pleasing smokey aroma, so I thought, let me give it another try after a disappointing first try years ago. The smoke never made it into the meat. Should have saved my money and made the trip to Sweet Smoke in Stuart. Won't be going back to Dales...ever. read more

Just another terrible experience at Dale's unfortunately. Had the 3 meat platter combo with sliced beef, pork and 2 ribs. Ribs- dry and little flavor. They must've been cooked, frozen and reheated at least once to be this dry. Was literally one of the worst ribs I've ever had. Also had a weird gray color to them which is why I think they're precooked and reheated. Sliced pork was not great and the beef was very dry and just not much flavor at all. I find myself there about once a year as I love BBQ and want to give them a chance however they just can't deliver on good bbq. Staff is always pleasant but to pay basically 20$ with the tip for a terrible lunch is just wrong. Ordered take out from Dales Bar B Que on Friday night. As I was picking up 2 Dinner Boxes, there they were on the counter behind the cashier. As I waited, she proceeded to go through each box of food with her hands that had recently touched money but had no gloves on them. With Covid RUNNING WILD AND NO GLOVES AND NO MASK I ALMOST REFUSED MY ORDER. This was the first time we had ordered from Dale's in the 18 years we live here. I'm not much of a BBQ gal and I loved Dale's. Definitely a dive, don't come for frills and fancy. Came during lunch and it was slammed. Took a number and waited on benches for five minutes, tops. Dining room is simple, a couple dozen bench tables with wood paneled walls and moose heads on the wall. I ordered the small pork sandwich after a long morning of paddle boarding and it was the perfect amount of food. Comes with a tiny bit of coleslaw and French fries for $5. Food was delicious! More than anything I liked the sauce - there was a sweet, mild and spicy option. Mild was flavorful and rich without being overly salty. Service was quick and kind.
