I am writing to share my recent experience with Dale, who was referred to me by a former co-worker for an appliance repair.
Upon his arrival at my home, I informed him that I had a scheduled appointment and my mother would provide additional information shortly in my absence. Before assessing the appliance or discussing the issue in detail, Dale immediately asked about payment and questioned whether my mother spoke English, an inappropriate and racially insensitive comment.
Dale did not inspect the appliance before insisting on discussing payment. He asked who would be responsible for payment, which I found to be unprofessional and premature. I informed him that I would make payment once the job was completed. He then claimed he already knew the issue and stated he would return within a week to complete the job. I expressed the urgency of the repair, explaining that the washer was needed immediately.
Despite this, he continued making excuses, citing traffic and other customers waiting, and insisted that I pay upfront to secure a return visit. I offered to pay half as a good faith gesture, with the remainder to be paid upon completion of the job, but he continued to push for full payment in advance. After further discussion, he eventually agreed to get the necessary parts and returned the same day to complete the repair.
While the issue was ultimately resolved, the overall interaction was unprofessional. Dale seemed more focused on securing payment than understanding or addressing the problem. His tone throughout the visit was condescending, and his approach was not customer-friendly. I found this experience uncomfortable and disappointing, and I would be hesitant to recommend his services based on this encounter. read more
