I don't trust these people AT ALL. When I was first considering them as my dentist the first question I had for them was whether or not they would accept my insurance. They said they did, but that turned out to be an outright lie. So they had me on the hook, and after signing what seemed like 12 pages of legal documents I was on the way to the dental chair for what they told me was going to be a free checkup.
It is a husband and wife team doing all the work at this place with no other employee's. The Dentist (Dr. Stanec) talks AT you but not TO you, and his demeanor made me uncomfortable. His wife is the receptionist. If you try to ask questions she will be quick to make up whatever story is necessary to shut you up and get you into the chair so they can get on with their money making processes.
So they tag-teamed me to push me through signing all the legal disclaimers and get me into the chair, but before he even saw my teeth or sat me down he suddenly insisted that an x-ray was necessary! I ended up telling him 3 times that I want a quote on how much the x-ray would cost before committing to it. He relayed my wishes to the wife, who I thought went to work on getting the quote but I don't think she ever had ANY intention of following up.
So at this point, this Dentist pauses for about 30 seconds- pretending to wait for his wife to return with the quote. She never showed of course, and then he went back to trying to get me to sit in the chair. As I would soon find out, he just totally disregarded my wishes and proceeded to do the x-rays without my verbal consent. At the time, I thought he was just getting me ready to begin the procedure just as a way to save time until the wife returned, but immediately after he got me set up he hurriedly went straight into it. At that point I had already made myself VERY clear about wanting the quote before deciding if I wanted to it, but its as if he just decided "heck with it, this is happening with or without his consent".
By the time I realized he was actually doing the x-rays, I tried to defend the guy in my head by telling myself that this guy didn't just do what it looked like he just did. I began rationalizing that because he was in such a hurry he was planning to just delete the images or something if I decided not to go through with it. Boy was I wrong! After taking the x-rays he went straight into reviewing the x-rays with me without skipping a beat. Also, he's now saying I had to have $2000.00 in work done right away or it would turn into twice that amount of work eventually because it was only going to get worse.
Next thing I knew I was standing at the reception desk again with his wife scheduling the appointment for whatever it was he was saying that I had to do. The wife then gave me the bill for this visit (it was about $55.00) to which I reiterated for a fourth time that I wanted a quote before committing to the x-rays!
What happened next was the clincher between me and these scam artists. With an expressionless face she just looked at me and said nothing. She purposely created an awkward moment of silence, as if this was one of her tried-and-true ways of manipulating people (by making them feel uncomfortable). I then started getting angry and repeated myself AGAIN. This time she calmly turned around and told the dentist who was now greeting his next patient at the desk. Guess what he did? He looked at her and then at me, didn't say a word and then turned around and walked his patient to the back and that was it.
Shame on me for paying for the x-rays, but with all the legal documents I signed I had to assume that they most likely had the upper hand to get away with what they did. So this time I had to just come to terms with what they did and regard the money I just gave them as a loss. I didn't trust a single word that came out of that guy's mouth about the ACTUAL condition of my teeth either. TOTAL wolf in sheep's clothing! But sometimes you just need to learn your lesson and walk away before it gets any worse- so that's what I did.
About 2 months later I sent them an email requesting that they send me copies of the x-rays. They actually emailed them to me in a timely manner, but then I saw that they only sent SOME of them... so I asked about it. The wife bluntly replied to my email with a statement that she sent all the x-rays to me and if I want to discuss it further to call. I probably shouldn't have told her I wanted the x-rays for my new Dentist... oh well. What I think ACTUALLY happened was that she simply didn't know how to send an email so large in file size to include all of them, so that was one last little lie she told me to top off my HORRIBLE experience with them.
