I was ok with that as we are doing virtual appointments but I thought it was a little odd that they are advertised as being in Oregon. I go through the online forms and fill most of them out. Then I see that if you take any controlled substances that you will be drug tested and you will pay for them! I am 48 years old and have been med compliant my whole life. I am prescribed one controlled substance. I've been on it for years and all it takes is one look at my prescription history to show that I've always been compliant on it with no issues. I don't appreciate being treated like a criminal because my brain doesn't work correctly. I don't do drugs, I don't drink. But when a clinic called Gentle Psych treats us like criminals it's just not cool. I just want to warn people, especially folks in Oregon.

My lawyer was concerned that I was not going to pass and that her report would be the death nail in my career. With that said, I just decided to go in and be as truthful and transparent as possible because you're going to be vulnerable. As much as I felt my situation did warrant some concern, I strongly felt that the way my district handled the situation was questionable. I found her to be extremely helpful but downright charming at times. She ended up giving me more insight to my problems in an hour than I've received in the past four years from my own psychiatrist. She really was able to surgically zero in on my issues and I felt that she was fair. It's not her job to hold your hand but to deliver an opinion and although I'm still not sure how the report will play out I felt strongly that she was very fair and that's all you can ask for. If she wasn't so far away I'd transfer my services to her. I felt she was very helpful and I know that going through these evaluations isn't fun, you simply have to own your mistakes and be willing to accept the consequences.

Sorry about that, my bad. Then he transferred me to the New Patient Line to leave a voicemail where I did as such. No returned call. 5/9/17 - left another VM on the new patient line. No returned call. 5/17/17 - Went to their website and sent an email stating that this was my third attempt at contacting them. 5/18/17 - Received a call from Darci that if I was "still interested" to contact them. Really....What do you think!!! I called Darci back immediately, upon which I was told that Dr. Z was not accepting new patients. I explained that my doctor had referred me to him. She explained of course, b/c Dr. Z is the best doctor and went on and on and him. I thought my doctor was the best myself and he was about to retire but I wasn't bragging. She recommended Dr. Julie Guthrie which I declined as she doesn't have good ratings. She explained that there were staffing issues....staff had left and the rest were having to pick up the slack. So I asked will Dr. Z be possibly take new patients later in the year? She said she didn't know. I asked if I could call back and check, yes. SOOO.... 10/23/17 - left VM on new patient line. Note the message states not to leave multiple messages as they are busy with patients or calling patients back. 10/30/17 - attempted to leave another VM but VM is FULL (see 10/23.....I believe if the office were actually calling patients back and deleting the VM messages, it wouldn't be full). Sent and email via their website contact page. 11/1/17 - @ 4:55pm....well, as of this writing, I have yet to receive a phone call. In my opinion, I truly believe the office staff are blocking and preventing patients from actually getting assistance from this facility. I believe the office staff are the gateway to the doctors and other medical professionals in this office and if they are picking and selecting who gets treated or not, that's sad and can become detrimental. This is very poor busy practices not returning phone calls back to potential clients. P.S. - Dr. Z may be a good doctor (I'm sure he is) but his office staff are not making him or the facility look very good. I wonder if Dr. Z, the other doctors, and other medical professionals really know what's going on in their office...that patients are trying to get in to seem them but the office staff are not allowing this to happen. Upon my research I found others have had issues with the office staff as well. Unless management take notice, this will continue to be a problem.

When I called back to ask the receptionist why it wasn't, she said that insurance companies "never cover those", after several attempts to get a hold of someone in charge, I was told that they would remove the charge, but they never did. I refuse to pay it out of principal, and now I am getting rude calls from an aggressive debt collector who just told me to "be responsible; pay your bills", and hung up on me. This past week, I decided to give them a call and try again. I left a message and missed the first return call, so I had to try again. The second time Angela immediately called me back. She was very polite, and set me up for an appointment the following Monday. Please be patient during your first visit. It can take up to 6-7 hours to do your assessment and meet with the psychiatrist. Remember, sometimes we have to go extra lengths to get the recovery we want. This is a newer business, so they are still working out some bugs, but after you meet with the psychiatrist things are smooth sailing. There are some really great people who work here, and they seem to be very serious about recovery. To the person who wrote the first review, I really hope you find the recovery you're searching for. So many addicts are so full of entitlement, they feel like everyone treats them bad because of who they are. Get over yourself. Sometimes we have to go to extra lengths for our recovery. I'm giving Eden 4 stars and I already gave them my suggestions. They aren't big enough yet to have someone attending incoming calls, and I get that. They will change that when they grow. They also need to work on speeding up the initial appointment. I arrived at 2pm and didn't leave until 7:15pm. I spoke to another patient who said he arrived at 12:30pm and didn't leave until 8pm. Finally the last suggestion was a change of location, which they are actually working on. Right now they are way up off of Sawmill Parkway. The new location will be closer to downtown. In closing, it was all worth it to be here in this program. Great professionals who are addicts like us that have many years of clean time. I'm looking forward to my next group meeting tomorrow. The process to get in may not be the smoothest, but it is worth it to follow through.

Instead, they will prescribe old outdated drugs like Depakote, instead of the much newer drugs on the market. Without asking or consulting with you personally. They are currently being federally investigated for lengthy patient hospital stays and billing practices! This place is ran by Acadia Health. They partnered with Trinity Health to use the Mt. Carmel name. This is very deceiving. You will NOT get the same good quality of care! Communication between patient and caregivers is terrible. They won't tell you anything, even if you ask repeatedly. Instead, they act like they don't hear you. I asked,pleaded and begged to be sent out to Mt. Carmel East for testing due to severe lower back pain. It was very debilitating and I was in severe pain the whole time I was there. They denied my request to be sent out. After discharge I went to a local hospital emergency room for an MRI and other testing and was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis and this place denied me medical care. It is so severe that I will be needing surgery and they totally ignored my requests when I could hardly walk or get around. Terrible place! Don't come here or you will regret it. The staff is abusive toward patients!! If you ask questions and cause too much of a problem you will be sedated against your will. They sent a whole group of medical staff into my room and held me down against my will and sedated me for several days in a row. I'm assuming because I asked questions and they never acknowledged me so I acted out. One worker (a very heavy male attendant) bent my right wrist back so far I thought he was breaking it. VERY ABUSIVE TOWARD PATIENTS. The doctor and staff do not care about your medical history or your well being. They are in it to bilk your insurance company for every penny they can get. Don't expect to get outta here anytime soon! They will keep you 8-12 days minimum. Which is way longer then the average stay at other behavioral units in the city. Go elsewhere, you won't be treated like a human being here! THIS PLACE NEEDS SHUT DOWN! I have already filed a complaint w/my health care provider and contiplating filing complaints with The Mental Health and Addiction Board and Ohio Dept of Health. They need to know exactly what's going on in this sh*t hole place.

My wrist is bruised horribly from the tracker they put on way too…read moretight and didn't fix until my 5th day in despite me pleading multiple times and them even noticing it as well as it was put on backwards so every 15 minutes all night when they did checks, I was woken up so it could sync with their iPads. Coffee was only offered with their disgusting meals and water was locked up and had to be requested. The TV remote was also held at the nurse's station and had to be returned immediately once a channel was selected. It was freezing cold at all times. There was one clock in the entire unit at the nurse's station, so we never knew what time it was as we were not allowed out of our rooms between 10 pm and 7 am. There was no individual therapy and the group therapy sessions were inconsistent, disorganized and worthless. Most of the staff besides Brandy was careless - so careless in fact that a patient in my unit named Joel Gullet died and they didn't even realize it until the next day. It was horrifying to the patients in my unit and I still can't wrap my mind around it. I was initially put in unit 200 because the "normal" units didn't have room and there were violent people there who literally said they were psychopaths. No one would tell me when I could leave. I am beyond traumatized and could go on and on. I'm shocked they haven't been shut down.

However, the outpatient part here has been nothing but amazing. They communicate very well, they are direct with no BS, accommodating and work with you to actually assist, instead of creating more stressors. Terra is an office manager here and has made the experience so seamless, setting the true expectations from the beginning. Krystal is a therapist, who is simply amazing bc she is able to be bluntly honest without coming off as insensitive or a jerk. She educates. So many people need this for themselves! I for one, have always appreciated things coming without beating around the bush!

Anthem transportation is the culprit. They have made me miss multiple in person appts due to their lack of finding drivers and me missing important appointments. My type of care is multiple diagnosis and complex and I'm not treated as a diagnosis or a label. I'm treated as an individual with respect and dignity. Their care quality is top notch and OPS is constantly educating themselves and offering new state of the art treatments to patients.
