My Wife was referred in January 2020. We thought it was a professional and friendly office. We brought a disk with her scan for his review. they asked us to leave the disk and the would mail it to us. Called in March and was told by the nurse it was probably lost in mail do to Covid-19. Called first part of July and was told by records person we would get a call by the nest day on status of disk. Called Monday July 20th and this is Friday and still no call on Status of disk. Was also supposed to be referred to HarborView Hospital for possible surgery and have heard nothing. Not a way to run an office! Very disapointed. read more

Dr. Dale Bloomquist was the recommended surgeon by my Orthodontist for my orthognathic surgery. If I had read the reviews in advance, I probably would not have gone to him. I'm glad that wasn't the case as he did a great job moving my jaw and I recovered quickly. He was always professional and to the point. If you're looking for a smile and hug, he probably isn't your guy, but if you want a precise procedure with no complications and at a respectable price, he is the Dr. to see. He also performed surgery on a good friend of mine and another's two kids. All of them also give him a thumbs up. On a side note - I noticed that those leaving negative reviews are people that seem to be never happy. Far more negatives than positive. As an update my daughter still has ongoing issues from her surgery with Dr Bloomquist. It is heartbreaking for me to know I lead her through this nightmare. Dr Bloomquist was recommend to us through Dr Samuel Lake who we trusted. She still feels another screw pushing through. She has a numb lip and her jaw pops every time she chews. It pops really loud so that everyone around her can hear it. In addition she experiences lock jaw on occasion, especially when eating something chewy like French Bread or jerky. The lock jaw causes head aches. There are also times when her face is throbbing and aches, mostly on the left side. read more

Dr. Bloomquist moved my upper jaw forward and straightened out my lower jaw in August of 2008. Positives: Having Dr Bloomquist perform this operation was absolutely one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Before surgery I had difficulty chewing to the point that I had gastro-intestinal issues often. Since then I've had no such issues and, as a happy side effect, it made me look better aesthetically. Before surgery I was undoubtedly nervous (scared even) but recovery was not as bad as I had anticipated and it was SO worth the excellent results. Negative: It's fairly minor, but about 5% of people who have orthognathic surgery have some nerve damage. I have a spot about the size of a dime on the right side of my chin (just below the lip) which has very little sensation since the surgery. It was worse at first, but gradually got better over the course of a year or so, and since then I'm so used to it I almost never notice it. Summary: If I had to do this all over again, with Dr Bloomquist as my surgeon, I wouldn't hesitate at all. The benefits far outweigh the inconvenience of a few weeks of recovery. read more

I had double jaw surgery and genioplasty done by Dr Bloomquist in June 2017. I had an underbite, and a prominent chin. He took about 2 hrs to do the surgery and it was a disaster. After his surgery I had 2 cants, open bite on one side and cross bite on the other, midlines were way off, sleep apnea I never had before, couldn't chew at all...had to grind all my food. He moved my chin back too far and I ended up with a mess of hanging neck skin. My orthodontist was so disgusted with his dismissive attitude that he will not refer patients to him anymore. I had the surgery redone by Dr Bobek. It took him over 7 hours to clean up Bloomquist's botched surgery. Sure Bloomquist offered to redo his surgery for free...but there's no way I'd let him work on me again. Do yourself a favor...see Dr Bobek...he's great and does a good revision as well. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bloomquist by my local orthodontist here in Nevada. I was told he is the "best" and I believe it. He operated on my jaw and also did a follow up procedure with me and he and his staff are great! His staff makes you feel welcome and comfortable even when you are nervous. Dr. Bloomquist did my jaw surgery and I was very unhappy with it. I was left with a number of problems. One of my vocal cords was paralyzed during the procedure and Dr. Bloomquist showed zero concern. The staff are obnoxious and slow. I really regret going to Dr. Bloomquist. read more

I had a maxillofacial surgery done by Dr Bloomquist in June of 2016. I had a severe open bite and went through years of orthodontic appliances in my mouth as I grew up. My orthodontist set me up with Dr. Bloomquist and we prepared for an upper and lower jaw corrective surgery years in advance. My dentist and orthodontist both tell me that Dr Bloomquist is renowned and people come to see him from all over the world. I am not sure how difficult it is to see him, but I was very blessed. If you have the opportunity, take it. He is clearly an experienced surgeon and knows what he is doing. He is friendly, but also is on the more serious side. From what I've heard, he could do surgeries in his sleep and I believe it! In my surgery my upper jaw was broken into three pieces and rearranged, and my lower jaw was rotated and had two pieces cut out of it. I now have 5 metal plates in my face and over a dozen screws. Recovery was, obviously, rough. Because it was such an intensive surgery. My teeth had turned out PERFECT, especially after my orthodontist did some finishing touches with my braces at the time. The only problems I experienced were purely my genetics and not at all under any control of Dr Bloomquist. I had some jaw joint popping and pain that subsided in about a year and no longer exists. I also had numbness in my upper gums and chin for up to a year that Dr Bloomquist had warned me about. I was more than pleased with how my new bite had turned out, it was like a dream come true. However, with my luck, my jaw joints began remodeling themselves - in other words, my jaw joints were reshaping and thus changing my bite again. Dr Bloomquist said this happens to 1% of all patients, and nearly always are younger women (which I happen to be). This remodeling of my jaw joints was the reason for my cracking and popping, and the reason I now have an open and under bite once again. Although my bite is still NOWHERE near the severity of what it was to begin with, Dr Bloomquist and my orthodontist have been diligent in keeping records on my bite and now have plans in the near future to conduct a second jaw corrective surgery on only my lower jaw. By the generosity of him and his office, we will only be paying for the hospital fees for the surgery and nothing more. Same goes for my orthodontist who I will be getting braces on again at no cost. I trust Dr Bloomquist and his expertise with jaw surgeries, and although the pain of recovery will be difficult, I do look forward to my 2nd surgery. I wanted to write this review for anyone considering seeing Dr Bloomquist. My journey has been long and is far from being over but I promise you, Dr Bloomquist is by far the BEST choice of jaw surgeon you will find! I would not recommend Dr. Bloomquist for jaw surgery. He is getting up there in age, I hope he retires soon. He may have been skilled back in the day but he should not be operating on anyone else at this point. Dale Bloomquist is one of the most knowledgeable professional doctors i have ever dealt with. I have had chronic pain in my jaw due to bruxism for years. After many dentists and doctors everyone told me that it was a mental issue and I would slowly grind my teeth away into dust. Dale told me of a botox treatment that would help my jaw no matter what, botox paralyzes muscle thus making it impossible to flex and grind. After 12 of having the surgery I would do it again. He has changed my life for the better. I had surgery at age 17. I am now 30 and have perfect dental health and my jaw is In perfect alignment. I recommend him hands down. Surgery was smooth and easy as a 17 year old. Took about 6 months for swelling to completely go down. I had the top and bottom jaw moved as well as the top split. I had orthognathic surgery with Dr. Bloomquist in 2010. I work for a small company so I never had insurance that would cover the procedure. The prior oral surgeons I saw quoted me at $25,000+ for the procedure and most told me that hospital costs were unpredictable. I though jaw surgery to fix my underbite was out of reach for me until I found Dr. Bloomquist after reading some information on a forum. I believe my total cost at the time was under $10,000 for everything (surgery, anastesia and overnight hospital stay. Dr. Bloomquist has an agreement with the hospital so he is able to negotiate reasonable rates for his patients. The surgery itself was completed in under 3 hours. I had no complications and was able to start eating soft foods like bread on a week. By two weeks I was able to slowly start play tennis again! I too had surgery with Dr Bloomquist in 2014.....Most of the surgery went well, except he FORGOT to do part and now I have to pay for another surgeon to correct his mistake. I found out he didnt do this part of the procedure 4 weeks after surgery. He is denying that it was needed to be done now ( even though every other oral surgeon says now I MUST complete this procedure to finish my treatment plan). It has been months of me trying to get answers and now Im getting fed up. Again- he did not consult with me prior, or a family member during/ after surgery about this " change " nor did he even speak to any of my family after surgery to even say if things went well... Dale Bloomquist is dismissive and arrogant. He made me feel like my questions were a waste of his time. He doesn't treat his patients with respect and he rushes through his appointments. I was looking to him for jaw re-construction surgery- not something to be taken lightly! After three consultations with him over a few months I finally gave up on him and found another surgeon. (Dr. Leonard with Neal Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) I took my business elsewhere because the last time I saw him he literally argued with me that what I thought needed to be done to my jaw (one cut on the upper jaw) was wrong- in fact he said he REFUSED to do it and insisted that I would be unhappy with the results. In the end what I thought needed to be done was exactly what my new surgeon thought needed to be done too. (She gave me her opinion before I told her mine) One cut was all that was needed, not the FIVE that Bloomquist wanted to do! (Two cuts on the top and three on the lower.) Bloomquist's initial "reduced fee" (I was paying cash) quickly doubled when each time I saw him he kept adding additional procedures that he insisted needed to be done. He would have done unnecessary surgery and it would have cost me an arm and a leg! Not to mention my recover would have been much more extensive and painful! In the end I had the right surgery done for me (I couldn't be happier with the results) by a doctor who cares about the patient and not just the office's cash drawer! Dr Bloomquist performed my second orthognathic surgery, my first surgery was botched by a different orthognathic surgeon who shall remain nameless. Dr. Bloomquist is the most caring doctor I have ever dealt with, and was very reasonable price wise. The surgery went perfectly and the healing time was about half the time of my previous surgery. On followup visits he always took the time to answer my questions and make sure I was satisfied. I see that there are some negative comments, which really surprised me. I had a very positive experience with him, and my bite is perfect now. read more
