Service is great. The food is horrible. My steak was absolutely way overcooked. I asked them for medium well with extra seasoning. There was absolutely no seasoning and it was burnt. I believe charcoal would have been better, but the environment is very clean and friendly. Unfortunately the cook is just absolutely horrid. My suggestion would be as get a better cook because every time you come here, the steaks are wrong they used to be good so I'm not sure what happened. Let me be clear. Tony and I happened to find this restaurant by accident based on the snow storm we were trapped in. I just happened to GPS nearest restaurant and this Roadhouse was the closest place to rest from the storm and eat. We were greeted immediately and pleasantly surprised how nice this restaurant was! There was no signage on the roadway, so we found it literally by accident The service was good@ the food was great. Tony loved the outside fire pit for smoking. He ordered half rack ribs with Baked potato and Mac n cheese and was extremely happy! Wife ordered the fish basket, and she removed over done bread on the fish, only to find some of it undercooked (aka raw). I had a steak salad with balsamic dressing. The steak was quite chewy, the dressing just not right - I can't pinpoint it but while it tasted like maybe it had balsamic vinegar in it, there was too much of something else, maybe sugar. Just visiting the area, and honestly there aren't a lot of choices in sit down restaurants, but we wouldn't come back. Wife and I agreed Taco Bell would have been a better choice. This afternoon wife and I were out taking a long drive , stopped in here blindly not knowing what to expect. We had a great server (Jacob) took good care of us , very attentive. Our app was good , the egg rolls were a beautiful golden color . They were very tasty . Not made in house but good . I ordered the 16oz prime rib , honestly one of the best I've had . The flavor of the prime rib was outstanding, barely use any horseradish was no need. Actually was shocked at the star rating of this place ! We stopped here for lunch during our travels. The restaurant was packed during lunch time. Our waitress was very attentive. The atmosphere was comfortable and not overly noisy. The restaurant is noted for its hand cut steaks, ribs and hamburgers. The menu also features a large variety of items from salads, soups, appetizers, bbq, sandwiches and sides. We ordered the half of bbq chicken with 2 sides. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, all very tasty and tender.. Food plated nicely, good portions, and reasonable priced. From the outside in, Dakota's Roadhouse will transport you down South and make you feel warm and invited like a real country home should. I started my experience with Mrs. Susie's Margarita which was strong and not too sour, just like I like 'em! I shared their Almost Famous Onion Loaf with my husband, which was less loafy and more onion ringy but still so very delicious, especially when you add the southwest ranch sauce for a little razzle dazzle. The downfall, which was probably more of my fault than Dakotas for not ordering steak or ribs, was the Prime Rib French Dip. It was just mush on mush, the bread wasn't toasted for a contrast and it just wasn't very tasty. The food is usually good but not always. I imagine there is a lack of care when over half the lettuce in my side salad is from the base of the lettuce head. It is by far the most pale salad I've ever had. When I worked in the food industry my rule of thumb was to only sell a quality item that I myself would want to eat, this salad falls short of both those standards and I fail to see a reason a competent staff would ever serve food this quality, even something minor like a side salad. I gave 3 stars for overall experience but I would give tonight a 2. Thanks for attending my TedTalk. I came back and changed my review from 3 to 2 stars after looking at the other salad in my order. We were in from out of town and it was a very busy Saturday night and we have a large family. They told us 45 minute wait but it wasn't nearly that long. I ordered a steak and it was the worst steak I had ever had in my life. I wish I was joking when I say it smelled like a dirty bathroom. The taste was even worse, it left a taste in my mouth so bad it ruined anything else I ate. The "Manager" took the meal off that was uneatable but offered nothing else. She even smelled the steak and said the same, even threw a pan away because of it. Then she never came back, had to ask for her again to get an explanation of why it was the way it was and she ended up walking away after her saying I don't know what else I can do, to my reply you are the manager. They have coupons and specials which is nice. This has been a local stomp for a few years. We go here because it's really the only restaurant in its category in town other than Arch & Eddies. The food is OK, not great anymore. Staff try's to be friendly, many of them fail. It hurts the ones that are truly friendly. You are not here to do me a favor, I pay for my service and food. Management seem to try hard, but the food often comes out cooked to the wrong temperature, is completely the wrong steak, or in many cases service takes so long you could have gone to the store, shopped, gone home and cooked it faster. It's like a knockoff Texas Roadhouse, the building, the decor and peanut barrel look just like Texas Roadhouse but the actual steak is not quite there yet.. We came to Jackson about a month ago for work and the restaurant choices aren't really there, so in a way I wasn't really expecting a lot from this place but I also made a mental note that next time I would drive 30 miles to a real Texas Roadhouse. I had the 10oz ribeye and it looked really small on the plate. It's cooked a perfect medium rare however the flavor could be better. The baked sweet potato was the bomb but it was so small as well. Husband had the cheese burger, it was not bad except the bun was on the soggy side. Decided to give the dessert a try and ordered cheese cake - I wouldn't be surprised if they get their dessert from Walmart next door. I was in town for a family event. We called ahead to make Dakota aware that we had a large family group (20+) that was planning to come for dinner. They were kind enough to situate us all together. Staff were very friendly and responsive. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Menu has typical steakhouse offerings like other franchises. They offer a selection of other options for those who prefer something different than steaks. Tonight, I had their full slab of ribs, the fully loaded sweet potato and asparagus. The ribs were very meaty and tasty. You might ask for additional barbeque sauce. And the sweet potato ... covered with a brown sugar, pecan topping ... more, please. The asparagus, admittedly, were overcooked and "mushy". Portions were ample. I felt quite full by the time we left. Our two servers were amazingly attentive. They kept our beverages filled and were very responsive for our requests of more sauce or customized dishes. They were accommodating to split the bill up by families and apologetically made adjustments when the wrong drink or side had made it to someone else's bill. I usually eat here 4 to 5 times a month. The last few times has been bad. They were out of prime rib at 3 on a sunday with only 10 cars in parking lot.
