This is the third dog we have have been boarding at Warwick Pet Lodge over the past 30 years. All…read moreof them have always been ready to jump out of the car and run toward the "Puppy Hotel" as soon as we make the turn off Jefferson Boulevard! When we pull up into the parking lot our present dog, Honey, can hardly wait to run in to see Frank. I'm sure there are more extravagant places to board our dog; however, I'm also sure that none can beat the care and attention our dog gets while she's there! Cosmetics isn't everything. The kennel where our dog is kept is clean and is, I'm sure, washed down more than once a day. She is her own large cage and at the end of each cage is a door which Frank opens so the dogs can go out into the I own fenced- in run...I would say it is about 10 feet long and approximately 4 1/2 feet wide, so there is plenty of room for her to move around inside and plenty of room for her to play during her outside time. Not once, in all of the years we have been boarding our pets there have any of them ever come back with so much as a flee or any type of illness. As a matter of fact they seem to come home cleaner than when we dropped them off! Frank is usually always working around the back where the animals are boarded and always talks to the animals. This last time when we boarded Honey it had been over a year since she had been there, and Frank remembered her name and Honey ran toward him as though he were her long-lost friend! (So much for loyalty! LOL!) She went right in the back with him as if we had disappeared! !! Hmmm!!! I must say though that it always gives us a peace of mind knowing that she, (and our two other dogs that have now passed), actually love being boarded. Frank is very picky when it comes to which cats or dogs he will board. If your furry friend is over a certain age and has never been boarded, don't bother calling. I think that Frank may feel, and rightfully so, that if your dog is 5 years old and has never been out of your sight or boarded it is not fair to send him/her to a kennel for a week. I'm sure it could be a very traumatic experience. All animals have to be up-to-date with all of their immunizations and one must leave an emergency number or two and the animal's vet's name. We happen to take Honey to the vet that Frank's wife works with so that is a plus for Honey...she not only loves Frank but also his wife. Another great advantage is that Frank lives right upstairs so either he or the Mrs. are there 24/7. I find this to be very comforting. So if you are looking for a wonderful, caring place to board your pet, I feel that you can't go wrong with Warwick Pet Lodge! Oh just a little tip...when we first get our dog we get them used to being boarded by leaving them several times for a night or two on a weekend when we are home so they know we will be back for them. All of our dogs have been rescued from shelters and we don't want them to think they are being deserted again! That way when we leave them for longer periods of time they are all ready for their stay at their favorite home away from home!

Good if you're in a pinch but not great. When I picked up my dogs, one of them peed like he hadn't…read morein days and the other one peed in the car, which he has NEVER done. Both my dogs were very smelly and a little skinny after only 4 days. They don't really let you tour the place or send you pictures to let you know how they are doing. They were also very wired, which makes me think they were in the kennel for long periods of time, but not sure.

I strongly recommend boarding your pet elsewhere…read more I dropped my dog off at 8:30 am this past Saturday and picked him up 3:30 Sunday. 31 hours. I dropped him off with his bed and tupperware of food. When I picked him up, his food bin was at the same level (in other words, not touched) and they handed me his bed in a plastic bag. The bed was absolutely soaked in urine. That evening, my dog started to have diarrhea and needed to be fed brown rice for 2 days until it passed. I have worked in animal hospitals and boarding facilities since 2003. My dog is quite accustomed to hanging out in a boarding facility, as I have often brought him with me to work. He doesn't get stress colitis and only has diarrhea when he has a dietary indiscretion or his food has been changed. He has also had some long days waiting to be walked and has never ONCE urinated in his bed. Upset by how my dog was treated, I called the following day to speak to the manager, Karen. Karen looked into it and left me a voicemail stating they had a new kennel person "who didn't know he was supposed to clean the bedding". Did he know he was supposed to walk the dogs after giving them water? My dog basically held his urine until he couldn't take it any longer and then urinated all over his bed. And how long was it before they came to clean up his run, I wondered? I called back the next day and spoke with Christine, the very nice kennel manager. She had been absent that weekend and apologized for my experience. I asked that I have my money returned since they clearly didn't take care of my pet. She didn't have the authority and, after another call 2 days later, I was told she spoke with the owner of the practice who said, "the best we can do is give you a $20 credit." Not, "I'll give you a $20 refund" - they'll give me a credit. Boarding your pet here just because it's attached to a medical facility is not going to get you the care you would expect. My dog was neglected and I paid money for it. For the owner to decide to only give me a credit is to communicate he doesn't care my dog had a bad experience and that he'll take my money anyway. To give a credit tells me he wants me to spend more money with the arrogant assumption I would now, knowing he is this sort of person, ever bring my pet back for "care".
