Walking out on the pier, you get beautiful views of the water and a nice breeze that makes it perfect any time of day. It's a great place to just relax, look out over the bay, and enjoy the scenery. Everything felt clean and well kept, and it wasn't overly crowded, which made the experience even better. The highlight for us was spotting a stingray swimming right near the pier such a cool and unexpected moment. Watching it glide through the water made the whole visit feel special, especially for my daughter. It's those little surprises that turn a good stop into a great one. We had a lot of fun. Overall, the Safety Harbor Pier is a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, some great views, and even a chance to see some wildlife up close. The boat I was on today was not air-conditioned inside, but still a decent size boat. The larger boat has places to lay down in case you're not feeling well. The smaller boat does not. In both instances there was only two people helping out when you needed assistance both times there were someone new and unexperienced. Fortunately for me, I know how to fish, add a new hook as needed, and takeoff my own fish so instead of waiting around, I often not only helped myself but helped those around me. Very discouraging since they do not have hand rags. Being this is my second time I was aware of this so I brought my own this time around. The spool on the fishing rods are awful... I'm not certain how often they change the line out or get out the bubbles in the lines. Several people around me were having issues. On both cases there was only one large catch of the day. Most of what I caught were grunts and Porgies- both which do not have size limits. I kept only the large ones. - about 1'0" The boat I was on today only offered squid and shrimp.- no fish for bait. My suggestion is to check which boat you're on and if there's air-conditioning., bring some hand towels/rags, nail clippers, and your own needle nose pliers. I almost forgot to mention that my most recent experience, one of the guys was walking around, smoking the entire time and for someone who has severe asthma and heart conditions. This was a huge problem. The rating has since come down to a three. Do I dare go on this boat again? Hummmmm I don't know....would you?

Beautiful beach that has tons of shells…read more This beach is emptier than others because you have to take a ferry to get to it and you have a four hour limit. We aren't major beach people, but I got really interested recently in finding shells. We were at Clearwater Beach and didn't see a lot of shells so I did research into where we could find an abundance of shells and this was one of the beaches that popped up. They have so many shells, but all the shells are very similar. They are the clamshell looking type. So if you're looking for a variety of shells, I would suggest going elsewhere. However, I was super excited to find all of these shells. We ended up getting buckets full of them. You pay eight dollars to get into honeymoon State Park. Then you follow the signs to the parking lot where it is $20 per adult and $12 per child, five and under are free, for the ferry ride. The ferry ride is a boat that is actually quite fun for the children. It's about 10 minutes and in the morning, you can see dolphins and the ferry will stop to look at them. They can fit about 45 to 50 people on each boat, and they do fill up. The first boat is at 10 AM and leaves every half hour after that. You can rent two beach chairs and an umbrella for $35 and they have food and drinks that you can buy on the island. Since you can't bring carts most people travel light so we didn't bring shade or seats. Being that our whole goal was to find shells we weren't sitting much anyways. It is pretty empty. This is not a packed beach at all and we were there on a Saturday in the summer so prime beach season. The sand is white and fine and the water is beautiful. If you're looking for a beach that isn't that crowded I would highly recommend coming here.
